I have a 1956 Gretsch Eldorado that has been well used. Though not a “collector”, it is a good sounding guitar, mellowed by the years.
Anniversary edition. Serial number: 37164. I have had since 1960 something.
It has a picture of E Tubb holding this guitar on the inside body of the guitar in a heart shape E Tubb is a young man & has E TUBB printed on the picture can you tell me how to find out anything about this guitar I am trying to buy it
I’m looking for a case for a 6119 model Chet Atkins anniversary edition circa 1963.
16 in wide.
Silverish color.
Will pay well for a complete set of Grover sta-tite open back tuners as used on 1950’s through late 1960’s Chet Atkins 6120, Nashville or Rancher. Must be gold plated and have butterbean knobs. Please email photo and price

My father recently passed away. The instrument that I remember as a child now stands unplayed. I would like to find out about its history. All I know is he aquired it in Hawaii during WW2. It says Gretch New Yorker on the handle and has the #6603. It is inlaid with dancers and has what looks like ivory inlaid in the neck frets. Any information would be appreciated.
The New Yorker as it is known is one of the lower end Gretsch guitars of that Era. The early models had binding (white trim) on the fingerboard. Hopefully it is still in good condition. You should keep it around 50% humidity to prevent drying and cracking. If you have a case you can but a damp sponge in a soap dish (drill small holes) and keep that in the case. Just damp not wet! Keep it away fron extreme heat and cold.: My father recently passed away. The instrument that I remember as a child now stands unplayed. I would like to find out about its history. My mother-in-law has a Gretsch 6189 that was left to her after her husband died. The back is a light copper color. Where does she go to try to sell this? Is ebay the best place? It has never been used. He purchased it new thinking he would learn to play. I don’t think he ever picked it up after he bought it. Thanks
do you have this guitar yet?

I have a orange hollowbody guitar custom made for Chet Adkins by Bill Hagner of Gretsch in good condition, and I was wondering what the price would be to sell it. It has a sticker on the inside that says Hagner Musical Insturments, Booneville Arkansas USA; and a tag written on it saying HG5 on the left and on the right with 12 5101.
I have a rare red TK300 6 string electric. It appears to be all original and has original hard case. Nice low action. Plays and sounds excellent. Very nice condition. $1000

Im looking to buy a Gretsch committee bass and Im having some trouble. Can anyone help?
I recently acquired a Gretsch Super Axe as a trade for studio time. From what I understand, this model was made only from 1977-80.There are no serial numbers on the headstock,or anywhere else that I can see. Some previous owner replaced the football-shaped front plate that contained the ill-fated distortion, compression&phase shifter, with an identical plate that has just single tone and volume controls & jack.It came in a cheap gig bag;the original case is long gone.Granted, this guitar is modified a bit,but what would it’s value be?Cosmetically,it’s in nice shape. Also, its unusual body shape makes it ill-fit in most standard cases–how would I go about getting a proper hardshell case for such a 25 year old limited production guitar?Any info would be greatly appreciated.Thanx Dave
I’m looking for a website where I can use the serial number 23852 to find out how old this gretsch is. I believe my grandfather bought it new in 1957, but he says its a 1956 model (it does have the "G" cut out in the tailpiece). Does anyone know where I can check serial numbers online?
Thanks

So please stop asking for it and grow out of the pop culture.

Great guitar! I’ve owned one for ten years. The best guitar I’ve ever owned. It is worth, in the blue book sense, about 400-500 bucks in mint shape. Especially with the original case. Mine was stolen five years ago but I got it back! Keep it, man, it’s a great instrument! -PW

I have had this guitar for about ten years. Time to clear out some extras and I don’t play it very often. It’s definitely a Beast, not sure but from the descriptions I’ve read here it’s a BST1500. I saw some guy in a newrock band playing one on MTV and couldn’t believe it. Dark brown translucent body, white pickguard, two chrome humbuckers, one tone, one volume, one p/u switch, 4-bolt-on neck w/ rosewood fretboard, dot inlays, metal nut w/ ghost fret, unmarked chrome tuners. All electronics work fine. No case but will include gig bag if you want one. Very good + cosmetic condition, no attention grabbing imperfections. Good deal of buckle-wear on back but doesn’t break through the finish. Have good pics. I’m not familiar enough with these to proclaim it to be all original, but I don’t see any evidence of changed parts. Make offer.

I wish my reissue Sparkle Jet had real tone controls instead of a useless 3 way switch. It’s either too bright, or too dark. I’m looking into adding a tone potentiometer control that is adjustable. Strat Man/Gretsch owner Dwight

I owned a Great Beast BST 1000 for many years – bought it new in 1981 but sold it a few years ago.
I just talked to the guy who bought it and I think I am going to buy it back. It’s a dark walnut brown with black pickguard [the original white one is still in the case] and original Gretsch hardshell rectangular case. They are great playing, great sounding guitars. This one is still very nice! Email me back and we’ll keep in touch.
Vince
