: : : Just heard a couple live things he does….anybody know what his setup is? His sound is unlike a lot of other players today…anyone agree? I know I am late in the game in getting into his music…but it impressed me a lot. What do you guys think? : I don’t know his total setup but I do know his warm sustain is from 2 ts-9 tube screamers. He runs through several Alesis rack mount reverb units. His whole electronics setup was designed by a man named Paul Languadoc. Also he designed treys’ guitar. Trey has become an inspiration with his long improvising jams…… soulful player no doubt! : Actually he has a sustain swith on his guitar. If you watch him play, you’ll notice him flipping the swith on and off.

Howdy: I like the SE 28 so well that I have 3 of them. Or 4, if you count the tobacco burst one with a different number. As far as I’m concerned, it is the finest sounding, playing guitar ever. I can afford Anything, and this is what I chose. I hear Steven Stills was seen playing one. At the Martin booth at the NAMM show several years ago, the guy who headed up the SE 28 project was there. It was made in several runs in several Eastern countries. Ironically this guy doesn’t even play guitar. Lucky in Las Vegas

Im trying to learn my brothers old gituar and i found this that you posted but i dont know how to make the chords! If you could help me out or point me in the direction of someone who could that would be great!! Thanks again, Alice : yeah an easy song and cool if you like bob dylan : its knocking on heavens door. : it goes like this : IF YOU DONT KNOW THE SHAPE OF THE CORDS LET US KNOW AND I WILL EMAIL THEM YOU : INTRO: G-D, C : : G D Am7 : .. Mama take this badge off of me : G D C : .. I can’t use it any-more : G D Am7 : . It’s getting dark, too dark for me to see : G D C (D) : . I feel I’m knockin on heaven’s door___ : : : CHORUS: : G D Am7 : .. Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door : G D C (D) : .. Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door___ : G D Am7 : .. Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door : G D C (D) : .. Knock, knock, knockin’ on heaven’s door___ : : : G D Am7 : .. Mama put my guns in the ground : G D C : .. I can’t shoot them any-more : G D Am7 : . That long black cloud is comin’ down : G D C (D) : . I feel I’m knockin’ on heaven’s door___ : : : ENDING: CHORUS, THEN REPEAT AND FADE : : G D Am7 (G) : Oo – oo – oo – oo : : : NOTES: : – "." in lyric line represents 1/8 bar rest : – "*" in chord line represents a new bar, play same chord : – V1L3: Clapton omits "for me" : – V1L4, C1L2: (D) is an optional added chord : – END: (G) is optional (return to tonic chord) : : From: [email protected] (Lost in the Shuffle) : Subject: Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door (Plus some) : We always use this tune as a cool jam tune on stage. : A slow melodic solo in Em pentatonic can really get the crowd : into it. We also use it for guest vocalists, if we can’t find : any other song to do together. : The problem has been that the tune is too short…with only two : lyrics. So I’ve added two more lyrics to finish it off a little : better. : The tune was originally from a movie and is sung while the sheriff : lay dying. So picture the good guy with his white hat on the dusty : ground in his final moments of life…reflecting on the life he : knew. : The two extra verses are phrased exactly like the previous two. : Forget about other versions of the tune you’ve heard…make it : your own version…with your own style and flare. : : Knocking on Heaven’s Door : -Bob Dylan : G D Am7 : Mama, take this badge off of me… : G D C : I can’t use it anymore… : G D Am7 : It’s getting dark, too dark to see… : G D C : Feel I’m knocking on heaven’s door… : G D C : Knock..knock..knocking on heaven’s door… : G D C : Knock..knock..knocking on heaven’s door… : G D C : Knock..knock..knocking on heaven’s door…

: Notice: Johnathan Davis totally RIPPED OFF MIKE PATTON! (lead vocals for Faith No More) When he rants and goes into gibberish! PATTON DID IT FIRST! And the bass? Billy Gould (Faith No More bassist) did that sound first but, guess who copied him? That’s right! THE PUD WHO CAN’T HOLD A BASS FOR SHIT! FIELDY OR WHATEVER. And also, they sold out just to be a merchendise and a depeche mode cover band. THEY SUCK.

Hey there bro, it is hard with a wide selection of beauties and phonies out there, i would strongly suggest a laneys amp, otherwise refferred to as the poor man’s mesa boogie, well mesa is the way but laneys is ooooohhhh so close, TFX300 tube fusion, check it on http://www.laney.co.uk bless you bro matt: : i am planing on buying a new amp soon and i’m not sure which one to buy. i need one that is very versatile because i play everything from punk to blues and classic rock. i am looking for a solid state around 100 watts. right now i have a marshall mg30rcd. i am not really happy with the distortion it has. i am only 16 and dont have alot of money to spend. : Ok now that you have become more specific, I could further answer your question. I know where you are coming from, since I’m 15. A matter a fact for 15, I have able to buy a lot of quality gear without paying a lot of money. I recently bought a loud 80 watt Crate amp, which I have been very satisfied with. My suggestion,Is not to buy by wattage, but by the size of the speaker(s). Fender has a good 65 watt 12′ amp for $275. Fender is a quality amp, and has good reverb. Another suggestion would be an Ampeg, they are a cheapier tube amp, which you might like. Also, I don’t trust the distortion on a less expensive amp, so buy a quality distortion pedal. I suggest a Boss Ds-1, a Ratt distortion, or a Sansamp Gt2. All three are quality pedals, but the Gt2 is a little bit more expensive, but its worth it. I own one myself. I bought my amp, through Rockauction.com. This site is great, it is quality checked musical equipment site. All of the eqipment, is ethier used, or never sold. I got my amp $180, $150 under the retail price. I saw a 100 watt fender amp their one time for $200. Register there, and then watch for drastically under priced gear. Good luck!!

June 4, 2000 at 1:52 pm #88153AnonymousGuest
Stay away from solid state! If you’re worried about bad tone a good way to get bad tone is to use a solid state amp. These days 100 watts is too much and you’ll end up with serious ear damage, I know, I’ve been playing for 30 odd years and standing in front of rows of Marshall 100 watt stacks has given me serious ear damage. A 50 watt rig will give you all the volume you will ever need and you’ll get that sweet tone you’re looking for without causing any serious damage to your ears. If you need more volume mike up your amp to the PA at least then the sound is in front of you.

Compared to a American Standard? : in my opinion stay away from the mexi stuff. you will get sick of it in a couple of weeks and you cant move the damn things. go american standard for sure. maybe jap the are verry good these days but still no resale value. the am standard will always be worth what you payed for it. and be sure to try a lot of strats they tend to vary in playabillity and tone so take your time and get the wright one : good luck

: Hey everybody! There is a great contest going on to win a lapsteel guitar from Robert Randolph and the Family Band. Plus, you win a lesson from Robert Randolph himself! : Robert Randolph and the Family Band are extremely positive, and make you want to jump up and shout "Hallelujah!" with their gospel, bluesy sound. They cover Hendrix tunes with Robert pulling of Jimi’s licks exceptionally well on his pedal steel. He also played with John Medeski and the Mississippi Allstars in The Word. RRFB has become an elite member of the "jamband" community and play several festivals including Bonnaroo. Check out RRFB here if you are unfamiliar http://pages.m80im.com/?TDoxNjU= or enter the contest here http://pages.m80im.com/?Qzo4ODoyMTQwODA= : Have a great day!

: : hi, any one out there ever bought a guitar in Japan or overseas? i’m thinking of gettin a Grassroots by ESP or an Edwards by ESP guitar, but i don’t know if it is possible to bring it back home (i’m in Singapore) without a Hard case….anyone can help me? : I’ve never tried to transport my guitar like that…but I have seen people wrap their guitars in bubble wrap and masking tape. Then just take it on the plane with you. But depending on the size and cost of the guitar, that may not be possible.

: : Does anybody have any opinions on the New Kramer guitars, namely the Barettas? : I saw these guitars at hairballmusic.com awhile ago. I looked at what they are made of and they are true pieces of crap. you really don’t expect to get a quality guitar for what they are asking. If you really want to get a piece of crap guitar, that sounds good, buy a danelectro. The original Kramers were crap, and these follow in the tradition Ben, I think you need to get your head out of your ass. The original Kramers (USA MADE) were great guitars. If they were such a "piece of crap" then why did so many players use them? They had great necks!! I havent had the chance to get my hands on one of the "NEW" Kramers yet But for the money they can’t be to bad!!! I do know that they are made per the original specs. I own a Jackson pro and 2 les paul customs and I still miss the Kramer ST I had in the late 80’s it was just a great playing guitar with killer tone. All in all it’s player pref. and if the guitar looks and sounds like you want it to then go for it.

: Does anybody have any opinions on the New Kramer guitars, namely the Barettas? I recently purchased a New Kramer Striker 424cm custom let me tell you I play metal and punk exclusively. I have played Jackson, Ibanez, Gibson Esp etc. These guitars play even better they have that fat hard crunch and screeching highs you need for soloing and are well worth their price considering it plays just as good as a Dk2 compare 375 to 250.

I dunno from experience because I’ve never owned a Kramer, but I AM interested in buying because for days I looked for reviews and so far, all of them were GOOD reviews(well, except for 1 or 2, which is understandable!), so I would encourage you to try it since it’s really not a lot of money. If it sounds horrible, hang it up as art or something! ^_^

This is quite an interesting post. The new Kramers are junk, Ben is right about that. Serious players don’t consider them real instruments, they are more like toys. The original Kramer guitars manufactured in the USA in the 1980’s were very high quality guitars. The original company’s Baretta was designed by Ed Van Halen. It’s a shame that Gibson ruined the good name of Kramer. The Kramers by Gibson are made in Korea from extremely low grade wood. What do you expect for a $69 guitar? Musicyo is the only place selling the Kramers by Gibson because they could not get any real retailers to sell them. Gibson bought the Kramer name in 1998 and tried to marjet them for two years before starting up Musicyo. Musicyo is a division of Gibson, they sell all of Gibson’s low end brands. : : Does anybody have any opinions on the New Kramer guitars, namely the Barettas? : Suggest you check out the review reprinted from Guitar Magazine at http://www.musicyo.com. The review is more favorable than Ben’s. However, musicyo sells Kramer, which explains why they reprinted the article.

Ben doesn’t have a clue – Barrettas are great, the new one’s are great (not as good as the USA made, but GREAT for the price). Also, MusicYo.com is the only people who carry Kramer – they’ve got exclusive rights to the brand.

: The inventor of the Electric Guitar is Mr. Terauchi Takeshi. His father was an electrician and he was tinkering with the radio set to connect it with the guitar. I do not know the exact date but it was invented in Japan. I just met this guy last week. : He was 64 and still playing concerts. A really kind and nice guy who thinks of others before himself. : I did not read the follow ups so I do not know if you already knew. : Thanks he invented the guitar in the 1930"s

Firstly, it’s all according to what you call ‘Get Better’.If you want to work as a pro guitarist as a living over the years you must be versatile….Learn your chords….Scales.Play with emotion..Not speed for speeds sake…Get a job in a band..That’s the only way to learn. The more experience the better….. Phil

I bought my FG 340II new in 1979-80…it was my first steel string guitar – I had no idea at the time what a great instrument I had. I am a professional musician and have several really "good" high-dollar guitars, but this is far and away my favorite. It has a beautiful, rich tone and plays incredibly well. It withstood years of abuse from me before I knew how to properly care for a guitar, and it has never needed any major repairs. I stumbled on the 12-string version of this guitar in a pawn shop a couple years ago – 150.00! I, of course, bought it immediately and have found it to be equally as playable and with just as lovely a tone and temperament. I had to laugh when I read the post about the guy who would rescue his FG first (after his family) from a fire – I have said that same thing many times. I will never get rid of this guitar – I can’t believe how cheap they are…if you find one – BUY IT.

Just ordered a 610CE, black w/ 1 7/8" neck. I played a 712 with the 1 7/8" neck and was blown away! I liked th sound of the dreadnaught a little better though. What really convinced me aside from the fantastic palyability was the video they sent me. It shows the unique way the neck is attached to the body and what effect this has on playing and adjustment. Being a mechanical engineer, I find their approach extremely well executed. Can’t wait for delivery!

Someone mentioned Laney’s AOR as a possibility. I HIGHLY recommend the AOR series. I have an AOR3012. Nice warm clean sound and a responsive, natural, Vox-ish overdrive sound. The closed back cabinet gives it plenty of bottom end. And it’s small enough to lift. If you want a chainsaw distortion sound get a pedal, but it has a nice tone and is built well.

alright, now i’ve got this message board figured out… anyway, question: i was resigned to not being able to afford a good tube combo and was about to buy a carvin sx100d (solid state) when i played a mesa-boogie subway rocket. this thing is only 20 watts, but the sound is incredible. and of course it’s more expensive… does anyone have opinions/stories on mesa-boogies? i think it might actually be loud enough to gig with…?

Posted By: JASON Date: Tuesday, 26 June 2001 "Hi, I’m 23 and I make more money than my parents and so can you" Turn $6.00 into $60,000…read this to find out how!!! READING THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE! I found this on a bulletin board like this one and decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through a newsgroups, just like you are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of dollars within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00! So I thought, "Yeah right, this must be a scam", but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Anyway, it said that you need to send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the article. You then place your own name and address in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups. (There are millions) No catch, that was it. So after thinking it over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I figured: "what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and $6.00, right?" Then I invested the measly $6.00. Well GUESS WHAT!!… within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000.00! In the third week I had over $10,000.00 and it’s still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made just over $42,000.00 and it’s still coming in rapidly. It’s certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps, I have spent more than that on the lottery!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works…. Also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it. I promise you that if you follow the directions exactly, that you will start making more money than you thought possible by doing something so easy! Suggestion: Read this entire message carefully! (print it out or download it.) Follow the simple directions and watch the money come in! It’s easy. It’s legal. And, your investment is only $6.00 (Plus postage) IMPORTANT: This is not a rip-off; it is not indecent; it is not illegal; and it is virtually no risk – it really works!!!! If all of the following instructions are adhered to, you will receive extraordinary dividends. PLEASE NOTE: Please follow these directions EXACTLY, and $50,000 or more can be yours in 20 to 60 days. This program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants. Please continue it’s success by carefully adhering to the instructions. You will now become part of the Mail Order business. In this business your product is not solid and tangible, it’s a service. You are in the business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large corporations are happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. However, the money made from the mailing lists is secondary to the income which is made from people like you and me asking to be included in that list. Here are the 4 easy steps to success: STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of paper "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST." Now get 6 US $1.00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope (to prevent thievery). Next, place one paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the phrase "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST.", your name and address, and a $1.00 bill. What you are doing is creating a service. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! You are requesting a legitimate service and you are paying for it! Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal! Mail the 6 envelopes to the following addresses: #1)M. Sunrise, FL 33313 #6)Alexandra Haba : 22 Buchanan Pl. , Allen , TX 75002 STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc…) and add YOUR Name as number 6 on the list. STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 2.4million groups) All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make! This is perfectly legal! If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18 Sec. 1302 & 1341 of the Postal lottery laws. Keep a copy of these steps for yourself and, whenever you need money, you can use it again, and again. PLEASE REMEMBER that this program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants and by their carefully adhering to the directions. Look at it this way. If you are of integrity, the program will continue and the money that so many others have received will come your way. NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address sent to you, either on a computer or hard copy and keep the notes people send you. This VERIFIES that you are truly providing a service. (Also, it might be a good idea to wrap the $1 bill in dark paper to reduce the risk of mail theft.) So, as each post is downloaded and the directions carefully followed, six members will be reimbursed for their participation as a List Developer with one dollar each. Your name will move up the list geometrically so that when your name reaches the #1 position you will be receiving thousands of dollars in CASH!!! What an opportunity for only $6.00 ($1.00 for each of the first six people listed above) Send it now, add your own name to the list and you’re in business! —DIRECTIONS —– FOR HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS———— Step 1) You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put your cursor at the beginning of this letter and drag your cursor to the bottom of this document, and select ‘copy’ from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the computer’s memory. Step 2) Open a blank ‘notepad’ file and place your cursor at the top of the blank page. From the ‘edit’ menu select ‘paste’. This will paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name to the list. Step 3) Save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If you want to do your postings in different settings, you’ll always have this file to go back to. Step 4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions.) Step 5) Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group, click the post message button. You’re done with your first one! Congratulations…THAT’S IT! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the hang of it, it will take about 30 seconds for each newsgroup! **REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200** That’s it! You will begin receiving money from around the world within days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O.Box due to the large amount of mail you will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it. **JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.** Now the WHY part: Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example). So then I made $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for me, now those 25 each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5 replies each, I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional $626.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters with my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 replies, that just made me $3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still ONLY 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will receive $15,625,00! With an original investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remember is: do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are joining the internet and reading these articles everyday?, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So, can you afford $6.00 and see if it really works?? I think so… People have said, "what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day, with thousands of those joining the actual internet. REMEMBER, PLAY FAIRLY AND HONESTLY AND THIS WILL WORK FOR YOU!!! I CAN NOT EMPHASIZE HOW IMPORTANT IT IS TO BE HONEST AND SEND THOSE 6$ FOR THOSE 6 PEOPLE!!!

i just got A candy apple red telecoustic…it is great..i love it..the neck is perfect for my style music..emo and worship..it sounds great when plugged in but when unplugged it is very quiet..you cant hear it very well at all..it is very light and easily moved.i also played the stratacoustic and the person that i bought it from said they are the exact same guitar…but that extra cuttaway on the strat and the differant neck heads…i personally like the tele more.so i think you should go fro it and get it..i know that griggs has them and west music in davenport iowa

I bought one from Guitar Center. A telecoustic. My opinion is that it sounds pretty good plugged in, unplugged it sounds kind of cheap. I’m a Gibson and Krammer man. I bought the Telecoustic for my son as a begining Guitar. For a 1st guitar, it’s great. You can practice unplugged with some tone, but the real justice is plugged in, and it sounds great though my effect unit. The sound I got through my Marshall amp was bright and clean as you would expect from a fender. I had to turn down the mid a lot. It’s a good choice (double duty guitar) for a begging to intermediate player. A pro would expect more, better unplugged sound quality, Stay in tune better, adjustable bridge would be nice. Overall fun to play. I plan to try it out for recording. I think a graet choice for my 13 year old son. Steve

: I have called musicians friend, they told me the guitar is mexican fender. I have also inquired about an american version, it appears they is not one. I am debating purchasing the stratacoustic, but like yourself no dealer carries them yet. I have been told the ship date is April sometime, but according to fenders website they are available. No dealers I have contacted can comment on them either. The only good thing about musicians friend is if it crap you can send it back. If you here anything else I would appreciate if you could let me know : Thanks, : Brian

Brian, I have played the telocoustic but cannot find a stratocousitc yet. The telocoustic was quite impressive when plugged in. I was very bassey and had a nice rich tone. Unplugged, the tone is good, but it is quite quiet. One thing I liked about it is that the fender neck is so fast. I am a finger picking acoustic player and because the neck is so easy to play, I can easily play things that are difficult on my Martin. Musicians Friend shows both the stratocoustic and telocoustic in their fall catalog.

The Fender dealer near me has started to get a few in. The neck is about the same profile as a regular strat, only it seems a little bit heavier around the base of the head. I’m pretty sure the top is solid spruce. Some grain is visible through the finish. The one I played was made in China, not Mexico. As for the fiberglass back, it compares very well with the all wood thinlines I’ve played. The back is slightly bowled giving it good projection. Much like an Ovation, only not as loud.

I just started investigating a subwoofer because my guitar sounds excellant through the subwoofer on my computer. I tune down to A so i avoid all actually tube amps. Solid state doesn’t break up as much. A good distortion sound instead of overdrive is cool. But anyway I heard Riviera is making some sort of guitar sub that’s why i’m doing a search for it right now. BUzz

: : i recently purchased a nice 88 les paul custom and noticed it had a cracked but professionally repaired headstock. how significant is this to the guitar as far as value and structure? : i know the feeling, i recently foun a 70 es330 in the trash. headstock broke clean off. its in the shop being profesionally repaired. as far as structural goes most headstock repairs hold up very good. it did however hurt the value of the axe pretty good probably 2 to 300 off the value of that one. its a shame but that guitar is now a utility piece a player a jobber. just play the thing and dont worry about the repair : have fun Doesn’t hurt the instrument or the tone if it has been repaired properly-just pray that they used wood glue…

In my opinion, rg suitable for any sound of music because of its unique style of guitar such as rock style, greatest range of fingerboard(24 frets), powerful pickups, special tremolo and locking nut. Other brands like Fenders guitar lack of this

Theres a site called http://www.licklibrary.com it provides backing tracks and works out about £1 per week. They are professional backing tracks made with real instruments and are well worth it. We use them all the time at our gigs. In the meantime if you find any other sites e-mail me back.

Hey guy, Try a Destination Overdrive by Option 5. It’s a killer pedal with very warm and dynamic overdrive (not fuzzy at all.) If you want gain, it cranks! It also has 3 tone controls. It is a boutique hand made in the USA pedal, so it brings in quite a price $170, but it’s worth it! I play this pedal and myself use a Les Paul through a Bandmaster and I love the tone I get. Just go to thier web site @ http://www.option5-online.com to order. You will not be disappointed.

Try out a Danelectro Fabtone pedal. They can get pretty much any sound, I use one for hardcore, poppunk, and social d style rock. The yellow mxr, and Boss Ds-1 and Od2 are also good pedals, but stay away form the metal zone, they are not good.

: ya, sure mesa is reliable… but marshall is where the tone is at.. with the advanced/vintage tube technology. Marshall by far owns mesa on the end of a leash. It’s really simple, if you want vintage tube tone, power, and authority you MUST go with Marshall. If you want to sound like mud being pushed through a grill cloth like all the nu-metal bands, then go Mesa.

: : i would like to know exactly who invented the first electric guitar.was it les paul gibson? ::: People have been playing guitars or similar instruments all around the world for hundreds of years, but they’ve only been electric since 1923. That was when Lloyd Loar invented the pickup, the gizmo that makes the guitar louder in the same way a microphone makes your voice louder. They take the sound from the strings of the guitar and send them to an amplifier. This increases the volume of the guitar.

: Hi fellow guitarists. You may have read some of my columns here at this great site. I’m the guy who has been playing for 38 years and still doesn’t read notation. I wrote a book about THE TRICK to understanding muisc and the layout of the fretboard. It’s called PlaneTalk – The Truly Totally Different Guitar Instruction Book and it’s a comic strip conversation between an old pro and a guy who gave up trying to figure it all out. The reader gets to listen in as the the TRICK to seeing the hidden logic of the fretboard is revealed. This book is being sent out to all corners of the world every day, thanks in great part to this site’s support. : You will also find a number of lessons, free downloads of my music and more. : http://www.lorange.kirk.net is the URL. I have 64 guitars…. 12 acoustics Guild D-55, Gibson J-200, Gibson Dove, Martin D-28 Etc… and my Yari guitars kick the crap out of them…. The higher the number DY-XX the better the guitar… Try one out, you will be impressed…. : : dont know about a mid 60’s one, but most of these ive seen seem to go for between $100 – $200, cant think of a single guitar made in Korea thats worth a real lot of money, they never were and still arent that great at making them. : : Lee

I wanna know that too. I’ve just got a Les Paul Studio, but everyone says that they aren’t as good as standards. They are £1000 more expensive, but that doesn’t tell you how they’re better… the guy in the shop I got the guitar from said that studio’s are just stripped down versions of standards, and made a big thing about the binding you get on a standard. I asked one of my friends about it and he said that it IS "mainly cosmetic". I can’t say I know for sure what the difference is, but it’s probably something to do with wood perhaps, and they do use different pickups. Still, I wouldn’t have thought better wood, better pickups and binding come to £1000…

I use a BOSS CE7 graphic EQ after my Tubescreamer to beef up the bass (and middle). Otherwise it can sound very thin and "middley". Even then it’s only really a modest blues drive. Quite smooth though.

: : "To anyone who finds this message…" heh : : I started playing guitar a few months ago on my own, and have been takinig lessons for about the past month. I am currently playing an acoustic however wish to buy myself an electric guitar. There is only one problem: I am completely clueless in this area =) : : Can anyone tell me what a good beginning electric guitar is, along with what all the weird things on it do? Heh, what i mean is, i’ve been looking through various company and store sites, and they talk about pickups, and humbucklers, and 5 way switching thingamajigs, and stuff….so what is that all about? What’s that stuff do? : : Also, what is a good (and cheap, I’m on a sub $500-600 budget for guitar and amp)material for them to be made out of. : : Last, what accessories do I need? I know I need an amp, do I need anything else? : : Thanks to whoeverr helps me out. : Hey Andrew, : I have many of the answers to your questions. First of all, If your total budget is $500 or so, that is pretty good, you have enough money to buy some quality equipment. Guitars and amps really go on style. what you have to do is go into a store and just try every variation of guitar. Guitar is totally your own opinion, but amps go on how big of a room you play. If you play in your bedroom, buy 10′ or 12′ speaker, or in wattage, 30-65 watts. Now cartaristics,Humbuckers are a kind of pickup. A humbucker, is a double coil pickup, which you could find on a Les Paul. A pickup, is a kind a magnetic microphone, that sends the sound of the guitar to the amp. A three position switch changes between pickups, a 5 position switch, could make it position coil- tapping (using mulitiple pickups). Accesories: Package of 50 picks, a Strap, another guitar stand, another pack of strings, a peg winder, possible a slide and a capo. In the future, you can buy a effect (stomp box or Multi effects proccesors). If you have any more in depth questions I could walk you through it. So e-mail me at [email protected], and good luck

: : you’re right, tabs are easy. but everyones gotta learn so here goes. Its easier to learn in person w/ someone teaching you but i’ll see what i can do. : : First you have 6 horizontal lines that represent the strings on a guitar. the letters on the far left represent the string. i. e. : : A————————. So that means the a string. Numbers on the line represent what fret you hold on that string. ie A————8———. That means you hold : : 8th fret on the a string. if they want you to play a chord, it will look like this : : e—-3 : : B—-0 : : G—-0 : : D—-0 : : A—-2 : : E—-3 : : So that would be a g chord, if you dont understand why, then you’re gonna have to consult someone else. so chords are tabbed in line w/ each other. : : solos and other riffs where you are not using chords are tabbed progressivly. hope this helps. : : sean

I’m a begginer, and I am looking at buying a used telecaster. However, I don’t want to spend over $400 total for the amp and the guitar because I am going off to college in less than a year, and my budget is a bit tight. I was wondering if there was any online stores that I could realistically pay this amount for both? Also, i was wondering what you think a decent smaller amp is for a small budget, =). I am a beginner so i don’t need a very powerful amp. I would really appreciate any feedback that you could give me. Thank you for your help. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~Lance Bruner

ive got a dearmond and i love, im not sure what it is but its a les paul style body, i only paid like $250 for it just before they were discontinued, its beautiful and incredibly comfortable but i dont really like the pickups, i had an epiphone g-400 that was twice the price and it didnt even compare to the dearmond so i sold it and replaced the bridge pickup, now its a beast and i dont think ill ever need another guitar

Hi there Gary my name is Mike and I am 18 years old. However, don’t let my age fool you, I really like lenny Breau and have some recordings of him I don’t know if they are released or what. THis friend of mine has told me they are the "Living Room Tapes". anyway I guess I’m writing because I am curious to see if you have had any responses or any luck in finding any tapes. If not maybe I can join your quest in finding some recordings of Lenny. If you are still interested or want to talk Lenny or about guitar write me. Thanks

: I found a Clarion guitar at an auction, I would guess it is about 50 years old, any one able to shed a little light on these guitars? I once had a Clarion guitar.I have also seen, if memory serves me well, a Clarion flat top and back mandolin, a tenor banjo and a banjo-mandolin. As far as I know they were made in Montreal circa 1930. Their instruments were of Harmony or Kay quality. If anyone knows something else or has one please let us know.

Color is red, finger board and back in Brasilian rosewood, top in cedar or spruce. : I would like to know what is value to-day and the year it was made. The only time I saw one exactly like that, it’s in the movie of the life of Hank Willams JR. : Hank played this guitar in his motorhomme during one scene in his movie. : Thanks in advance. : P.S. Excuse my faults in anglish please. Funny thing, I traded in a Guild -D25 M at guitar center a couple of years ago. I had a Fishman pickup mounted in the bridge, since I bought the guitar back in the days before acoustic electrics. I am curious as to where you got the guitar. I can tell you that I brought the cherry red Guild in 1981 for $500.00, and I understand that they do not make them anymore. To be quite honest, I do not think that they appreciate much in value.

: get a copy of the Real Book and a copy of one of those old mel bay 4 note chord encyclopedias. then play through a bunch of songs that you kind of know, trying each of mel’s chord suggestions until you find a few dozen voicings that appeal to you. : you’ll be able to throw the chord encyclopedia in the back of the closet within a few weeks, but the real book will be with you for a long long long long time. *s*

Frank Zappa Robert Fripp And Who Knows Else Have and Had been doing This sort of thing forever. A while Back I scavenged the cord and patched in through a sound card on the Input. Not HQ I admit. I suggest getting hold of a Fripp net or better yet Attend one of his Seminars or Clinics. I know and realise what I’m saying Is easier said than done. : : : I am putting a home studio togther and was wondering if there was a good way to connect my guitar to my P.C. so I can record what I am playing to .wav format. I am looking for a high quality sound so the way I connect it is very important. I know a way I can do it but the quility would be poor at best. Please E-mail me if you have any suggestions. : : which guitar should I buy a bcrich NJ warlock or a jr-20 jackson rhoads?? : : Which one is better and why?? it all depends on what kind of feel you like. If you like the rounded neck you get a BCRich. but if you want the flater neck you get a jackson.I own 2 jacksons and 2 BCRichs. i love the sound i get out of both of them. sound wise they are both great but if you dont like it you can always buy a better amp or better pickups. you can turn a fender tele into metal guitar just depends on the equipment.

iN RESPONSE TO ALL THE KNUCLEHEADS THAT OPINIONED ON THIS ISSUE, YOU OBVIOUSLY DON’T HAVE A CLUE ON WHAT YOU ARE SAYING, WARLOCKS ARE REALLY COOL GUITARS AS WELL AS JACKSONS ARE,BOTH HAVE THEIR PROS AND CONS ON TONE AND PLAYABILITY BUT THEY ARE DEFINETLY COOL GUITARS FOR HARD ROCK OR HEAVY METAL,NEVERTHELESS WHOEVER IS THINKING OF BUYING ONE OR THE OTHER WILL ULTIMATELY MAKE THE DESICION AS TO WHICH GUITAR LOOKS,SOUNDS AND PLAYS BETTER SO MAKE YOUR OWN CHOICE THEY’RE BOTH GREAT AXES. 9

: : which guitar should I buy a bcrich NJ warlock or a jr-20 jackson rhoads?? : : Which one is better and why?? : Dear lord, why would you want to buy ethier of these tacky instruments. For the same money, you could buy a low price Gibson, or a nice american strat. Both guitars have locking tremelo’s which give any musician headaches…unless you know what your doing unlike you obviously. Hey, anybody who says that Jacksons and BC Richs are trash guitars…Screw you, you obviously don’t know anything about metal. I used to have a really nice Strat and it sucked ass in comparison to the Jackson Rhoads I got now. I’d say, if you want to do metal, your going to be happy with either. Fuck the stats. So, as Cartman would say, "SUCK MY BALLS!!!"

: which guitar should I buy a bcrich NJ warlock or a jr-20 jackson rhoads?? : Which one is better and why?? Ed obviously doesn’t know his head from his butt. Ibanez and ESP are both Japanese made, bolt on neck, way overpriced, JUNK! B.C.Rich and Jackson’s American made versions are both quality HANDMADE guitars. It’s gonna cost you for the USA made, but it’s worth it. They’re both quality guitars, you can’t go wrong with either one. Remember, just because a company has the money to buy off clowns such as Korn and Vai, and specially make their guitars, does not mean that the rest of their guitars are any good.

I’ve owned and worked on both of these guitars. Lots of fun to play unplugged or plugged. Remarkably well set up for its kind. You DO get what you pay for, though. I strongly recommend replacing the cheapo plastic nut and saddle with a TusQ nut and saddle, LOTS better sound. Also recommend carving down the massively oversized X-brace…also, lots better sound. These little critters also deserve better tuning machines…Gotoh or Grover, et al. Oh, the strings that they are shipped with are crap. NOTICEABLY better sound from good strings. …Tim

I’ve had my Stratacoustic about a month now. I love it! I use my guitar mostly for composing. I was out of town when the terrorists struck, and found myself unable to return as I’d planned. So I went looking for an acoustic guitar to work with in the meantime. I never planned on getting an acoustic-electric, but when I played the Stratacoustic I was hooked. Being accustomed to my good old Strat electric, this was a blessing for me since it felt familiar. Played unplugged, the sound isn’t as full as a standard acoustic, or as rich as an Ovation. But plugged in…it’s truly sweet. Bright, clear and clean. I pick up my Stratacoustic over my regular Strat whenever I need to tinker with some chords or fumble around with some picking. I love the fact that it’s laid out like a Strat. That’s my two bits. I love this guitar. 🙂 – Heather Haze

I played 2 different black ones at The Guitar Center, and one had a better feeling neck than the other, (craftmanship?). But I liked it, (though it’s a far cry from my Custom Shop Stratocaster!), so I am waiting for a white one that I ordered that should be ariving anyday now. After I’ve had a few days with it, I’ll re-post and let you know what I think of it… GOOD I HOPE!!

I briefly played the stratacoustic at a music store last week and I though it was a quality guitar. However, the acoustic-electric guitar is not new. There are many kinds out there. The most distinguishing factor of this guitar is the thin body. While excellent for playing (I find it easier than a regular acoustic guitar) you lose some of the sound. I would recommend starting with a full body guitar, and only pay the extra money for an acoustic-electric guitar if you think you’re going to need it. If you have any questions or want a more detailed review (I’m going to play it again this month) send me an e-mail. Bill

I recently purchased a Agile Gold Top off a "Buy it Now" on E-Bay. After extensive research I bought the Model 2000 for around $229.00. To say the least, I was pleasantly pleased with the quality. The gold top finish was perfect. Playability was not far from excellent after changing strings and setting the bridge down a bit. Intonation was right on. The guitar workmanship is very high quality for this price range. I might stress " VERY HIGH" I bought this guitar to retire my 1976 Gibson LP Deluxe, which took a beating as my main guitar in the 70’s thru the 90’s, I had purchased it new in ’76. The Agile P-90’s sound great; notlike the mini-humbuckers I was accustomed to, but great to my ears. I can’t say that the Agile is overall as good as the Deluxe, but in my opinion, it comes damn close. I have been playing for 38 years. I own a collection of around 30 guitars. The new Agile is a real asset to my collection, and is played daily. If you are into Heavy Metal I would suggest you stay away from the P-90’s. They are however, great for the Blues and similar types of music where clarity and pure tone is the objective.

I agree they look cool. I just played one (1/2/01). It played really nice, and it looks great. It went for $460.00…no case. Grover tuning, seymour pickup…nice. All guitars play different, so one may play better than the other. I like the semi acoustic sound myself. I think for the money, if you could find one that plays as well as the one I played today, I would go for it. I agree with you on the prices of Gibsons, who can afford…in my humble opinion they are way over-rated. Fenders are ok. Some of there cheap ones play pretty good! PRS are all the rage. I played one, it didn’t impress me that much…not for $1500.00…bottom of the line! Ibanez are not bad, if you get the right one. Again, all guitars are not created equal. Good luck! Chain

: : i would like to know if anyone thinks Rogue is a good brand. I also would like some advice on what kind of inexpensive first eletric guitar to buy and amp? thanks. : I would recommend a Danolectro U-1. This guitar retails for $140, fast action, great sound, great value. I’ve been playing for 5 years, and I recently bought one of these, and they sound just as good as my paul, and my explorer.

Dear David, Here’s what’s probably wrong with your amp. I’ll bet it happens about 15 to 20 minutes after you turn it on. What is happening is, the tubes are heating up the chassis, and then the effect loop jacks are getting a bit melted out of shape. The other problem is that it is a Marshall. No offence. Marshall amps are not designed. They are on after thought after another. Change the 4 effect loop jack in the rear, as well as the input jack in the front. DO NOT buy cheap, or Marshall Jacks. BUY Nuetrik Jacks ONLY!!!!! This is a very inexpensive way to repair the problem. If it does not do it, then the next thing would be to remove the little connecting leads from one PC board to the other. They are little white 3 pin connectors. Remove them, and then solder them directly to the board. I repaired a JCM 600 Combo, and went through hell finding the problem. Now, I pass this info on to you poor JCM 600 sufferers. Let me know if this helps.

: Mexican Strats are made of Poplar, while Americans are made of either Alder or Ash (lighter than poplar). Because of this, they have a bit more resonance, on average, than the mex strats/teles do. It’s my understanding that the pickups are better on the American versions also, however to figure that out you’d have to play both of them, right after the other, through the same amp on the same settings on the same day… truth is I’m not sure of the pickups. This year, they also redesigned the American Strats. The neck is contoured a bit differently, the headstock only restrains the E string instead of both the B and E. see my other response here. i have a mex strat and for a couple hundred bucks it’ll blow out any off the shelf american strat around. note: hollow out the body of any extra wood and line teh cavity with copper. it’ll give you such sustain and tone with the protection of feedback or noise, you won’t believe it’s the same guitar. i am running kinmans in mine. stephen

I know how you feel! I own a Polaris white solid body electric guitar myself and don’t know much about it. I went out the other day looking to buy a pickguard and couldn’t find one that fits because the pickups are oddly positioned. On my guitar they are slanted right off the neck and the bottom pickup could be exchanged for a humbucker(which is what i plan to do). I cant find anything on the internet and don’t know where it is made. Information would also be helpful here!

My brother bought several CR models — but he buys anything that’s cheap. As a pro guitarist, I tried them and while "nice," the fretting is not true. Several strings on the 12th and 19th fret harmonics are 1/4 to 1/2 note flat. If you plan beyond the 5th fret — it’ll drive your ears crazy . . . have to retune if you play "up" and tune back when you play open strings. Try the Washburn low end line for better quality.

[The body of this post has been reconstituted from replies so it may differ from what was originally written.] Have you considered buying a Seiko? I have a Korg GA20 and I bought it because I can do 4 b(flats) with it which gives me that kewl half a step down tuning. Yeah Korg is kind of hard to use, so I also have a Seiko ST-727. It’s a lot more accurate and it can be used while performing. Seiko’s run about 50 bucks, while Korg’s are a little cheaper. But the value is definately worth it. They are really accurate. Check em out. Oh yeah, Seiko also has a chromatic tunner, with a green iluminated display for those nights in a dark club. I don’t how much they are… probably about 60-70 bucks. Rock on’

It’s a mahogany body and real maple top just like a les paul but it was a mystery to everyone at the shop. Someone said they were made in the mid – late seventies before Gibson kyboshed the les paul rip offs. Beautiful guitar.

You just have to set the input of your soundcard to sp/dif or optical using the recording mixer panel of windows. Then you can burn the .WAV on an audio-CD with your standard CD-writing program.

I have never seen it’s 5000 dollar gibson counterpart but I can’t immagine it could be any nicer. It is definately as well put together as my real les paul standard.

My very first guitar ever was a Columbus Les Paul Custom copy, and I got it in 1981. When I finally got a decent-ish guitar (Washburn Force 2), I realised that plank had been holding up my development as a guitarist. My second guitar was a Satellite Strat copy and I can honestly say it was HORRIBLE, worse even than the Columbus. Now, 19 guitars later, I have a Gibson Les Paul Standard 2003, American Series Stratocaster and American Series Telecaster. I AM HAPPY!

I too would like to know, I have seen that Wamoth makes necks freted with the wire, but they won’t sell it. I suspect it would require some special tools to work with.

: DOES ANT ONE KNOW WHERE TO GET STAINLESS STEEL FRET WIRE,LIKE THAT USED ON THE PARKER FLY GUITARS? I WOULD REALLY LIKE TO GET MY HANDS ON SOME. Warmoth carries it. I want to get some too, but I’ve never re-fretted an instrument (I’ve done all other work on my guitar, and I trust myself much more than anyone else). I have heard, though, that stainless is quite hard to work with.

: : Does anyone have any idea of what a S.S. Mossman, Great : : Plains Custom, 1975, Winfield, Kansas might be worth? : : Thanks. : a couple years ago a great plains was worth about 1200 for a 75 model, Hold on to it if you have one it is sure to go up over time, as Stuart Mossman has since died and they are now made in sulfer springs tx. New retail for a texas plains model is around 2-3000. Its the same as a great plains. As for worth and price that you could get for it that is realitve to how bad someone wants it, Its as fine of instrument as any martin makes,Mossman just dont have the name or the marketing, hold onto it a winfield mossman is hard to come buy. Or email me if you might ever want to sell it. I feel very lucky to have a 1974 White Plaines model (I think, as it does not actually say it anywhere). It is initialed on the tag inside the guitar with 14 initials, one of whichj is Stuat Mossmans. I would never part with this instrument! When I play it for guitar lovers they melt. It is so wonderful… Do you know of anyone in the Chicago area that wood be able to do expert repair on the bridge? It has latley lost some volume and their are grooves in the actual bridge from years of string pressure. Will I mess with it’s value if I do repairs? Thanks! Rich

: You’ve got be kidding!! Neither of those mentioned are "great guitarist" Chuck Berry has never progressed past the " 3 chord wonders" for 45 years. He and Jerry Reed are legendary entertainers not great guitarist. No, my friend, you’ve got to be kidding!! Have you ever even heard any of Reed’s stuff besides "east bound and down" How about the stuff he did with Chet Atkins? I guess you think he sucks too. Maybe your guitar hero is Kurt Nobrain. Try to learn some of Jerry Reed’s stuff and then get back to us

It is a bloody loud amp… Anything louder and you will be going through a PA system so it will be fine. The power dimension switch on mine has never worked properly up untill 2 months ago when I had it specifically looked at (for £60). I have had mine for 6 years and it has been overall excellent. Dust will appear on the valves after a while and it will give a crackling sound each time you turn it on. Make sure you get it serviced say, once a year and it will always be in good working order. The speaker is great and I have the adjoining extension cabinet which fills out the sound. It is for sales if interested.

Best Guitarist is probably one of the hardest questions asked… When asking you have to determine whether or not they’d be jazz, rock, blues, classical etc…. There is a difference between the most well known, and the most talented. Just because they’re famous doesnt mean that nsync is better at singing than Hansi Kursch from Blind Guardian. My preferable listening material is Jimi, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Steve Vai, Joe Satriani, Jimmy Page, and Eddie Van Halen

There is no clear answer to that question unless you just want to debate the issue. All of these people have a talent and obviously exceptional artists. I mean Chuck Berry known for that unforgettable Johnny B. Goode lead, Clapton which song? Santana which song, I might just plug a guy I knew,as a kid would for a quart of beer could play the star spangled banner behind his back, no it was not Hendrix, and he never went anywhere so it no big deal! I think the greatist guitarist or artists is the one that moves you at the time you listen to them! If there was just one great guitarist, the rest may as well pack up and go home! Peace

: : Hi. : : I am trying to decide who I think is the best guitarist : : in the world, but I dont know them all. Therefore I would like to hear your meaning. BEST IS A HUMAN INVENTION. IN THE REAL WORLD, BEST DOESN’T EXIST. IF YOU MEAN MOST POPULAR, COULD BE KEITH RICHARDS.(THEY PROBABLY SOLD MORE RECORDS THAN ANYONE). IF YOU MEAN MOST BIGGEST PRODUCED SOUND, PERHAPS IT COULD BE BRIAN MAY. ERIC JOHNSON ALSO HAS A HUDGE SOUND. IF YOU MEAN MOST DIFFERENT FOR THE TIMES ,MATBE IT WOULD BE JIMI HENDRIX. IF YOU MEAN TAKES A LOT OF PRACTICE TO PLAY LIKE THEM (BECAUSE THEY HAVE A LOT OF TECHNIQUE. PERHAPS IT COULD BE YNGWIE MALMSTEEN, STEVE VAI,JOE SATRIANI,GARY MOORE,ERIC JOHNSON,JEFF BECK,OLD RICHIE BLACKMORE,MICHAEL SCHENKER,JAN AKKERMAN,ROBIN TROWER,LESLIE WEST,Steve Lukather,Eddie Van Halen,Warren DeMartini(RATT), Tony MacAlpine,DANNEY ALKANA(ALBUM ROCK THE BACH),Ronnie Montrose,Steve Morse, Randy Rhodes, John Petrucci,Darrell Abbott.OR DO YOU WANT TO KNOW JAZZ PLAYERS OR CLASSICAL PLAYERS. ANYWAY, WE CAN LEARN FROM ANYONE. PICK WHAT YOU LIKE BEST. THAT IS THE BEST PLAYER(FOR YOU!)

If it is the JEM 555 Jr Model – it’s fine but is definately of lesser quality than the 777 models. The guitar is excellent for it’s price – although I would be tempted to go for a good second hand 777 rather than a new 555. You may have problems with fret buzz on the 555. This is easily rectified by raising the Floyd Rose slightly if you know what you’re doing. Again – go for a 777. : : If you have ever owned or played this guitar, did you find any defeciencies or things you did not like about it? If you know things –good or bad about this guitar, please answer.

You could always buy a used high end Martin or Taylor. I think that both make great guitars. I own a Martin HD 35 and a Taylor 810 and a 510. They all have their own unique siund so one is not better than the other just different. Go with your ears and listen to what sounds good to you. Basically a guitar you cannot put down is the one.

I just got this guitar but b/c of my job I havent been able to play it as much as I want. I now have to put money together to put a downpayment on a new truck. I’ve only had it for a few months and it’s an awesome sounding guitar. I just don’t have the time. I’m asking for $850 (it’s listed at $1298) I just need to sell some of my stuff fast. If you are interested please e-mail me. My phone # is 337-207-7942 and I’m from Louisiana. Seth LaHaye

I myself just bought a Martin SPOMOO16_ $1200. It is an Ochestra model, Magagony boby, High Gloss, 1 3/4" at the nut. The sound is so bright that my right ear often times has a slight ach after I play it for a long time. None of my other guitars have ever done that. I have Guild, Fender, Morrell. Alveras and now Martin. I really do love it and the look in something else for sure. I want to get a Taylor 514ce cedar top next. Pat Kirtley plays one of these fine guitars and it feels and sounds great. can’t go wrong .

My personal preference would be the Martin D18, but that ran me a little over 2. I also have a Martin DR, and it is just over a grand. It is awsome. I would recomend that for something in the thousand dollar range.

Re: Martin/ Taylor…. I have a Martin D 1 for 5 years now…Paid US 699.00 with hard shell case….then I bought a 310 (with the new neck) a few months back…the Taylor has a much beter sound and the action with the new neck design is like butter. I paid with the Hard shell case about $799.00 for the 310.If you can not afford the higher prices, I just bought a "Big Baby" , its a large version of the Baby Taylor. It is about the size of a Grand Concert. It was like a magazine ad. I went in picked up the Big Baby Taylor and bought it, less than 2 minutes. The sound for an inexpensive Guitar is awesome. The action is great and the price was right… I bought it for US$299.00 including the new gig bag. Some stores do not have them yet, but shop around… you can found one and do not pay more than 299. with gig bag. Happy shopping Thanks Paul

It sounds sweet, but they need to be replaced. : be carefull messa designed there amps to a certain sound that means they cannot be biased. you have to buy messa tubes because they are checked for the right voltage if you put any tube in you could cause damage. i reccomend using messa tubes or call willy at nbs electronics in denver co. he knows what the tubes should read and he will make sure you get the right ones e me for his phone number : be carefull : : Has anyone tried Svetlanas or JANs?

I have an MT-2 and have never had any problems with it. It provides a wide range of distortion effects and killer sustain, especially when I plug my Les Paul into it. Ya, if you are running it off a battery instead of an AC adapter, try changing the battery. When the battery is going dead you might get a little output but not much.

: : : Can anyone give me the guitar tabs to "Sleep Walk"by Santo & Johnny? undefined More… [Close] [Close] undefined Subject: TAB: Sleepwalk(Larry Carlton) From: [email protected] (Spencer Low) Date: 1996/03/23 Message-Id: <[email protected]> Newsgroups: alt.guitar.tab,rec.music.makers.guitar.tablature Here’s the melody line for Sleepwalk as covered by Larry Carlton. Since the original was played on lap steel or some type of slide guitar you can try to mimic the sound with well controlled bends or whammy bar action. This tab is just meant to be a starting point, so have fun with it. I have notated certain repeated parts of the melody line differently just to suggest alternate fingerings. You just have to work it out to the liking of your ears. I used |’s across the neck to denote the endof a section, otherwise a single /= slide up to the note. : I just bought a Seagull S6 Cedar last week and I’ve noticed that low G sounds sharp when I play it. F# sounds sharp, too. But the E string is in tune. I’ve checked it with an electronic tuner and I have no idea why it’s like this. I thought the fret might be out of place, but low C sounds ok to me.

Hello Mike,
I learned that the problem has been inherent
since the creation of the guitar. There is a company
that just started up called Earvana.com that makes an
adjustable staggered nut that solves this tuning bum-mer between open and fretted chords. Their cost is
surprisingly reasonable and I suggest you log on to
their website. Good luck. -

Hello Lev, I own a Little Willie 30 Watt Rock Head with Gain Control and lots of Overdrive (no Metal though!). These Amps are in fact handmade in Germany by two friendly guys named Erkel & Kopp and I strongly recommend them! The Amps all use Class A circuity and sound absolutely fantastic! Also the best Quality available (hand wired). They are extra rare since the Production was stopped last year (website shut down!)and I will propybly buy some others if I find some. In some weeks I will be the proud owner of the last Micro Willie (5 Watt!) ever built (especially for me from the last spare parts!). If you like the sound, go ahead-buy it! It doesn’t get any better than this!
