NAMM 2013 – Kemper Profiler PowerRack and Profiler Rack

Kemper expands on their Profiler concept with the rack-mountable Kemper Profiler Rack, and the 600W Profiler PowerRack.

The Profiler’s ability to capture and reproduce the tones of four favorite guitar amps continue to impress guitarists world over. However Kemper must have caught wind of comments on how awkward looking the original “lunchbox” is, so now they are offering the same technology in repackaged versions.

These new products take Kemper’s innovative Profiler technology back into familiar territory. The Profiler Power rack is housed in a rack-mountable case for convenient integration into your existing rig. The Profiler PowerRack on the other hand, houses a built-in 600 Watt amp, making it a true standalone guitar amplifier.

Kemper finally decided to add a built-in amplifier to their Profiler concept, and they did so without holding back on the power output. Rated at 600Watts, the Kemper Profiler PowerRack is now a complete all-in-one guitar amplification system for both recording and live use.

With this new setup, you can easily utilize Kemper’s CabDriver mode to play through regular guitar cabinets or even monitor systems while retaining the “Profile” tone that you captured. The amp is designed to deliver 600 Watts at 8 Ohms, or 300 Watts at 16 Ohms. Kemper ensured that temperature is kept optimal and monitored on the display.

According to Kemper : “The 600 Watt Class D amplifier was carefully selected for the guitar amplification system to guarantee utmost performance. After extensive listening tests, a lot of measuring and looking thoroughly at the typical sonic behavior of power amps for guitar amplification on the market, it became clear that only the best components are capable of delivering impressive results.”

The result is a lightweight and portable guitar amp that bears a very sophisticated and innovative sound processing technology.

Although the Kemper Profiler Rack looks quite different, the user interface does not stray too far from the original version. It lets you do everything that you can do on the original, and you only have to get used with the more horizontally spread-out controls.

The Profiler rack maintains the same intuitive control layout and setup of the original. Important parameters such as gain, volume, tonestack are obvious and easily accessible, along with other dedicated knobs. If you’ve owned a traditional amplifier, you will find the controls on the front panel easy to tame.

After consulting with various touring musicians, the Profiler Rack and PowerRack is now “ready to rumble” at the coming 2013 NAMM Show. You can play the Amp at their booth, you can test it with a choice of Cabinets: A classic 4 x 12” standard guitar cabinet, a 1 x 12” guitar cabinet, and a selection of full range solutions.

The Kemper Profiler Rack is expected to retail for $2,025, while the the Kemper Profiler PowerRack is priced a bit higher at $2,730. They will both be available sometime after NAMM.
