Re: The identity of my fender!

What you've got is the Heavy Metal Stratocaster made late 80's to early 90's.It's so unlike a standard Strat that people tend to think it's a copy. I've got one and it plays
really well and has a nice wide neck which suits me

You'll find all the dating information on www.harmony-central.com/Guitar/Data4/Fender

Let me know if you're selling it

Regards
John

69 fender mustang bass

Hello everyone,

Im looking to restore my 69 mustang bass, it was "restored" before but not very well. Are the pickups in these any good? Mine are horrible. Should I buy new ones or have these rewound? If I buy new ones I would purchase a repro picguard because I've never seen replacement pickups for these and do not want to cut the original one. What do you experts think?

thank you,

frank

Fender Bronco value?

I have a Fender Bronco. It's got to be from before 1970 (how can I tell?). It is in very good condition although I can't locate the tremolo bar right now. It does not have the original case. What can I expect to get for this?

Thanks

i need help with re-stringing my new toronado

i can't seem to figure out how to restring my guitar, because instead of a hole, there is a slot on the top of the peg ... thanks for the help

Re: i need help with re-stringing my new fender squire strat

i was playing and my e string snapped. i got some more strings but i cant figure out how to re string it. part of the string is still stuck in the bridge, how do i get it out

Re: i need help with re-stringing my new fender squire strat

What you want to do is use a standard clothes hanger or a paperclip. This should be able to dislodge it, but if not, use a VERY firm thin screwdriver.

Fender Prosonic Amp

It is my understanding that Fender has stopped making this amp. Does anyone know whether this is a good amp or was it a bust for Fender?

Re: Fender Prosonic Amp

: It is my understanding that Fender has stopped making this amp. Does anyone know whether this is a good amp or was it a bust for Fender?

I have a lizard green one but am only a garage player. My music teacher borrowed mine for a 2week tour and then sold his Marshall jcm800(?) head with quad box & bought his own. He reckons it is fantastic because it is small & has a huge sound. The amp starts to overdrive beautifully on the clean channel about 4 with humbuckers but stays cleaner louder with strats. The Overdrive is a cascading gain which means that the more you turn up the 2nd gain the more it sings without distiting more. I love it.

70`s Jazzmaster

I`m still searching for the "right" guitar and I`ve found this really mint condition 70`s Fender Jazzmaster, It seems to play and sound fantastic but I`ve heard that 70`s era Fenders are`nt very good. It`s priced at £1100, could someone who knows their stuff advise me on the truth of the 70`s era reputation and the value of this guitar please? Thanks in advance Ev xx

jagstand

can anyone tell me how much a jagstang is worth? It's in great shape. Thanks

Re: jagstand

I know for a fact that a Fender Jagstang is worth more than $300. I have one I need to get appraised but i can say that $300 is a skimpy offer for a rare guitar.....depending on the year. My '93 was appraised @ $1200 in '97 I need to get it appraised again to sell.

Re: jagstand

prolly around 300 dollars. i'll buy it from you

Super Reverb Amp worth???

My 1969 "Silverface" Super Reverb is all original and has no imperfections. Nobody knows what it's worth! I have good photos that I can email. HELP!!!!

The 1981 Fender Flame

What is known about this guitar? Is it rare? Is it worth any money? Is it a good guitar? Thanks for any info

Re: The 1981 Fender Flame

The Flan\me was manufactured in 1984 as part of the Fender Master Series. Three guitars were offered, the Flame, the Esprit (very similar, but with equalk cutaways and a slightly larger body), and the D'Aquisto archtop.

For each of these 3 designs, there were standard, elite, and ultra. The main differences were in the inlays and hardware.

Note that the Esprit was the basis for the current Fender Robben Ford model, which is pretty expensive.

These guitars were only manufactured for about 1 year, and all were made in Japan by a factory known for Ibanez guitars.

I have owned 4 of the Esprits and Flames. They are very good quality - very similar to an early 80's upper line Ibanez, in my opinion. There do not appear to be many differences between a Flame and a solid body Ibanez Artist, which can be bought in the $500-600 range.

I would think the elite and ultra variations would be worth a bit more than the standard model. My guess is in the $700-800 range for the standard model and closer to $1000 for the nicer ones, depending on originality and condition.

Right, finally got the hang of this internet thing! Just sent original message back by mistake. Anyway, I bought my Flame Elite new in 86 for £260, the rrp was then about £650,
but these were being sold off as Fender had recently been bought from CBS and they were no longer being marketed, according to the shopkeeper. The Ultra had gold plated fittings, block inlays and TBX tone controls, Elite had the TBX and snowflake inlays, the Standard didn't have TBX. I tried the Esprit and the Flame in the shop and chose the Flame as I thought it balanced better. Its a great guitar and I've never seen another one since so it must be quite rare.

Re: Fender Coronado

I do not know much, but there should be a date stamped on the butt of the neck. You'll have to unbolt the neck to see it though. There may be shims so remove the neck so that they do not fall out or at least in a way so that you can see there position(s) and replace them in the same spot(s).

That said, my understanding is the neck date indicates the date the neck was made and may not be the date the guitar was assembled. The neck date on my Coronado says 10APR66B but it doesn't jive with the supposed date range indicated by the serial number on the neck plate. Apparently there is no exact way to date some of these guitars because Fender record keeping was inconsistent and spotty. Hope this helps. Good luck!

Can anyone identify this guitar ? very importent..

I think it's a Fender 50th Anniversary Stratocaster, but Im not sure.
It's serial number is N525438

Re: Can anyone identify this guitar ? very importent..

The serial number indicate that this guitar was made in 1995 because of the "n" for ninety, and the 1st number "5" which mean it was made in 1995. Fender made the 40th anniversary only in 1994 (some were made in late 1993 and may have a serial number starting with "N3") however all of the 40th anniversary guitars carried the metal "flag" emblem on the front of the headstock. If yours doesn't have this, then it's most likely not a 40th anniversary. Fender also made a numbered limited series strat that was virtually an identical copy of the 54 strat. Yours is not this one. As for the 50th anniversary,, those guitars were made in 1996 and all carried a 50th anniversary sticker on the back of the headstock. If yours doesn't have this, then it's most likely not a 50th anniversary guitar and if it's not a numbered series limited edition, it's definately not.

You do however have a very good 1995 instument made by fender and if it's american made, which by you serial number it most likely is, then it's a great guitar and you should enjoy it and play it alot. Hope that helps.

It do has the 50th anniversary sticker on the back of the headstock...

But it's just a sticker, this is why im not sure...
Another thing, the headstock of the guitar is in the same colour of the body(metallic blue).
How much do this guitar worth?(if it it is 50th anniversary strat(50th anniversary for fender not for stratocaster)).

Thanks ALOT, Daniel.

Re: Can anyone identify this guitar ? very importent..

Fender introduced the Strat in 1954, so I don't think there is anything called a 50th Anniversary Stratocaster. Your serial number denotes a guitar made in the mid-1990's. Could this be a 40th anniversary guitar?

Also, note that Fender's American Standard Strats from this time period all had 40th anniversary labels, so this does not necessarily mean the guitar is something collectible or overly valuable.

the guitar you have was made in 1995 and not a 50th Anniversary

Re: Can anyone identify this guitar ? very importent..

the guitar you have was made in 1995 and not a 50th Anniversary

hence the N5 to start serial number

Ode to the Strat Plus !

Can anyone tell me why Fender have stopped making the strat plus, I own one of these gems and it`s a damn fine instrument, so the question remains why re~issue duo sonics (dogs) and stop making the plus series and re~issue of the elite series??

Re: Ode to the Strat Plus !

I agree. The Strat Plus is my favorite Fender of all time. I had two of them and just sold one. I still own my first, which is a 91, with a Blue Burst finish. Apparently the strat plus is not all that popular among strat players, because their value seems to have decreased over time. You can buy one on Ebay for less than $600!
To answer your question about the Duo Sonic and the Elite series, Fender has expanded their line of cheap and student model guitars becauset that's how they make most of their money. Ask any guitar store owner and they will tell you the same thing. They make their cash from kids buying new guitars- not experienced players buying expensive models.
However, based on Fender's track record of re-issues, I bet they will re-issue the Strat plus someday.
