Re: Archtop guitar

: Dear Sir, Madame,

: Last year I bought a vintage acoustic archtop guitar. The sound is amazing, and it has well survived the years. It has received some restauration though.
: Sadly the logo has disappeared and all I can tell is that is was just a sticker, a six-square as I can tell from the difference in colour.
: It has also got a number inside the F-hole : 9172-, and on the back of the neck there is the number 60 with below it 1440.
: I can send you a picture if you like.
: Can you tell me what brand this guitar might be.
: Kind regards,

: Harry

mayer guitar

I have a Mayer electric 2X4 guitar- no body to speak of- that the previous owner claims is by R. Mayer of Octavia fame- he will not confirm or deny. ANY INFO? This is a production model, not home-made, pretty obviously Euro/German- I'd say from the 70's but the hardware is all changed so it's hard to tell. Any info GREATLY appreciated. Thanks- Jay

Rossel guitar

I'm interested in buying a Rossel VTG guitar. Seller guesses age to be pre-1975. Fritz Rossel is a German luthier and I assume guitar in question and luthier are connected. Single cut-away guitar with 2 humbuckers. Very nice looking. Do you have any info on Rossel electric guitars? Thanks

Hi there,

Yes, I had a Voss guitar in the 60's which I bought new and I gather it was Swedish. I can send you a jpg shot of it if you like. The electrics were not marvellous but then my amps then were the pits so I'll never really know.
Do you jhave a Voss?

Re: Framus

: I've got a Framus I bought in Wurzburg in 1970. It's a copy of a Gibson SG. I was wondering if it had any value in the used guitar market?
I saw 1 for sale at a local music store $300. Loved it, plays great and was in perfect tune.

Info needed on german gutiar maker

I bought what looks like a turn of the century, steel string gutiar, all 100% mahogany with flowers inlay around the sound hole, the head looks like a electric's head sort of pointed, and it's carved out where the strings are attached, not right through...there is a sticker inside that has a R and W and co. or a W and R and company, then on the bottom it says made in germany, the fret board is cut away near the sound hole and has 20 frets it has a beautiful sound..but the neck is some what warped...no steel neck inside just solid mahog. nice little black tunners I could send a pic or two....I think the bridge has been changed and i am trying to set it up as a player....any help on the maker and age and or value would be great!

The guitar was obviously pretty old when I bought it but is still in pretty good condition although the action is high.
