.: : i would appreciate any advice anyone could give me because i’m considering buying an all-in-one pedal. I’ve managed to narrow down my options to either a digitech rp2000 or a boss gt3. At the moment i’m leaning towards the digitech but am not sure. Any replies are greatly appreciated by anyone who owns one or has played them both. Especially information about what mod effects can/cannot be used together and how many variables/effects can be assigned to the expression pedal. : : thanks. : Just ask T.J., the guy who has the defect in his Rp2000. I hate my digitech Rp6. The Pedals have worn out, and the sound quality stinks. Go for the Boss.

: : I was wondering if anyone knew the type of distortion pedals Metallica uses or something that sounds close to their sound!!! Thank you so much! -Danielle : I am very familiar with metallica’s gear, because of what I read in the March 1998 edition of Guitar World. The question that you ask is very complicated, because Kirk doesn’t use pedals on the stage persay, and the stuff he uses in the studio, is very obsure. Also, he uses a lot of amp distortion, which only sounds good, at stage levels. I will give you his distortion effect anyway, and let you decide for yourself. These effects, give his exact sound, but I will also give opinions on similar, more cost effect effects. First, the only distortion pedal he uses is a Lovetone Brown Source. Don’t try looking for this pedal at your local store, YOU WON’T FIND IT. Love tone is made by a small company in England, and they are very rare. He also uses a guitar synth (Roland VG-8) which gives him distortion as well. His main distortion, comes from his amp. He uses a Mesa Boogie dual recitifier, and a Marshall stack. He also uses EMG active pickups, to hot rod his sound. James basically uses the same stuff, just in another channal on the wireless. I would recommend that you just buy a $60 Boss Ds-1 and do it like that, because you will never find the exact sound that he has. If you want to try to get a Love tone pedal, here is their URL. Its http://194.164.6.10/lovetone/. Good luck

: What are these guitars valued at in to days market? That’s a tough one. I would venture to say you have, depending on the shape it is in, a giutar worth about 1500.00 dollars. Since The re-release of the starfire series under the Dearmond brand, Guilds are worth more. I have a 1974 Starfire IV and was offered 850.00 by a dealer. This was equal to the selling price of a new one. I decided to keep it. I just bought the Guild Bluesbird. WOW! If it plays and sounds good, keep it.

My best advice is to buy a Fender American Stratocaster: You can learn on anything but you’ll enjoy the experience anad hard work better with a quality guitar. You’ll be happy you spent the extra 4 to $600. Money isn’t anything compared to having a quality instrument to learn on even if you have to work extra hard to get it. You’ll enjoy learning and practicing much better than if you buy a guitat that is "OK for Now". Same goes for anything else you want in the music area. Then, if you decide you don’t like playing a guitar you’ve got something that will re-sell very nicely.

There are three basic Marshall cabs (not two) 1) A 1960AV cab has "vintage 30’s" (70watts each). It is known as a vintage cab (Slash, Via, etc.) Hard rock sound with great tone. 2) 1960A, the standard or regular cab which has 75 watt speakers and a strait Marshall sound. Handles a lot of power and bass, good for general use. 3) 1960AC "classic" or "greenback" cab has 25watt celestions. (Van Halen, Hendrix, Cream, older smoother sound) The DSL overpowers this cab a bit. I’ve tried all three with the DSL 100, I like the Vintage 30’s the best with that amp. Lots of tone however not much treble. The greenbacks sound like they are going to melt down — totally saturated sound. Cool, in a way, but be ready to blow a speaker or two. The standard 1960a cab sounds great with the DSL for all around modern heavy rock. P.S. I have a Marshall DSL 100w head for sale and lots of used guitars at http://www.gtrkev.com

I talked to Randy Curlee (founder of S.D.Curlee Guitars) and he is sending me an article that sums up his company and guitars. I do have a rare brochure I will quote some for all to see: Solid Honduras Pattern, Brass Strap Buttons, Adjustable Steel truss rod, Pickups, Mahogany Body, Guitar – Super Distortion humbucker and single coil high output, DiMarzio pickups, Adjustable Bass Bridge, Brass Control and Neck Anchor Plates, Individual tone and volume Controls, Pickup Selector Switch. If anyone is interested I can post more info, specs, etc.

: I’m a newbie at electric guitars and the only info I’ve got about them is from guitar dealers (and who knows how trust worthy they are).. I’m looking for a guitar 800 bucks or under and am not sure what to get. I like a guitar that can get a really good classic rock sound. I was thinking of a Gibson LP (not gibson epiphone) but most are more than 800. The only thing that is around there is The Les Paul Lites but I don’t know anything about there quality. : :Which is better sounding and more reliable Gibson or Fender?? When I asked that to the guitar guy he said they are both completely different "animals" but I think one of them must be more preferred…. Could somebody help me ??? If you know any other type of guitar in the 800 dollar range let me know.. but am mostly considering LPs or Fenders… Who do you listen to? What bands/players do you like? I can offer suggestions based on this.

[The body of this post has been reconstituted from replies so it may differ from what was originally written.] My feeling is that Gibson type guitars are more forgiving(sound-wise)to a beginner.Fenders have a very clear, bright character with less sustain. If you dont know what your doing they can sound very harsh

where ever there’s an h in pepes’ scale examples replace that with a "b" he must of had a typo problem but his scales are accurate, Yngwie is all about natural minor, harmonic minor, diminished and phrygian scales and modes respectively. Try any search on guitar lessons and you’re more than likely to find these scales in tablature format.

The Jackson Soloist SL1 is an excellent guitar in all areas. It’s build quality is amazing, it’s tone is sweet and the neck is silky smooth. The sound from the Seymours Duncans makes it one versatile guitar. This is not just a Hard Rock/Metal guitar. Buy one, you won’t regret it…I haven’t:)

: : Just wondering what everyone’s opinion is. Also, what is the difference between having one humbucker and two humbuckers? You can only use one at a time, correct? Thanks for any info. Jackson is making an import series from Japan that structurally is very good. Not very expensive at all. I believe it’s based upon the Jackson Dinky model. Get it, gut it, Replace your pick-ups with higher end Seymour Duncans. This should give you a great guitar at a price well under what an original jackson soloist cost. I prefer the dinky’s neck over the soloist neck. There is an amount of hype over the soloist. Do check out Ed Romans guitar site for some great Jackson info. Hope this helps : I had a similar guitar, a couple years back, and I hated it. The neck was too hard, and needed refretting, only a couple of years after purchase. The double-locking tremolo was a nightmare. I had it with one single coil, and a humbucker. I liked this configuration, though Jackson pickups suck bigtime. You can only use one pickup at a time, this is because the 1980’s style design that Jackson can’t get off of, doesn’t include the very cool coil tapping feature, that should be on every 3 pickup guitar. There are better guitars, then the overpriced, overhyped, Soloist. Good luck

: It sounds like you may have had a heavier gauge string installed w/o adjusting the internal rose springs. I understand the floyd rose should be flush, or parallel, to the body when it was adjusted properly. if you were dive bombing from a point that was out of tension range you may have cracked some part of the internal spring mechanism

Hi, I’m from Germany. I got a ’75 "Flint Hills" model with a fishman-pickup under the bridge. Though it’s a very good Mossman and as fine as a Martin-guitar, I’m thinking about to change it for a 52 Vintage reissue Telecaster BSB . Do you know someone who’s interested?

I’ve been playing for about the same length of time and I also have diffuculty in deciding which method to exessivly practice with, the wrist or arm. I Use wrist orientated picking for techniques such as sweep picking, but I tend to use the whole arm when using econemy picking, jumping to the next string with the same pick stoke direction. I was just on a web page that said to have a totally relaxed arm and to use the wrist, yet I have started to use my arm out of habit! Look at accomplished guitarists such as hammitt, malmsteen etc. and watch their technique. Thats what I do and it somtimes points me in the right direction.

: Hello my name is Scott Jones. I am a currently the music/band director, guitarist, transcriber/arranger at my church in St. Louis. It is a contemporary service that has afforded me the great priviledge of writing in every style imaginable and sharing God’s glory through my gifts to a congregation of 3-4000 people. This includes all vocal arranging, all transcribing, new instrumental arrangements of hymns and worship songs, all orchestrations of horns, strings, piano, full rhythm section; in the styles of pop, country, jazz, orchestral…etc. I am also a songwriter/producer. I often use drum loops in my arrangements. I sometimes revise old songs to mirror the current styles of Sara McLaughlin, Fiona Apple, Tori Amos etc…

I just bought a "real" one (Gibson) for 699. It was actually the only unused new one I could
find in all the Sam Ash stores in the U.S. I always wanted a LP and I hear this one is a hot rod.
I already have the strat of strats in my opinion the Voodoo Strat and a Jackson and I always
wanted a LP. Already Ace was always one of my mentors (1977-) and you didn’t have to
twist my arm to buy this one.
      at that price.

said I had no right to expect the codes if I reformat that often. I told them I could do
whatever I wanted and that they never said in the web site you had to get the codes
from them every time. They refused to refund my money. I have all the emails to prove it.
I threw my money away. Any more info please email me. Mike
you need new codes from them every time you reformat.

You cannot own music: : Sharing music is the latest craze since MP3. Do you feel that any sharing of music files is a violation of copyright laws?

: : Does the Napster software infringe on artists, labels and publishers copyrights?

: : The RIAA has accused Napster of not only facilitating, but encouraging the unlawful exchange of copyrighted music. Do you agree?

: : Metallica & Dr. Dre have joined the RIAA in filling suits against Napster. Should independent artists be concerned with the popularity of music sharing sites?

: I went to Napster and found many obscure recordings you cannot find in CD Shops, or they are very difficult to find. I downloaded some Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed songs, most of which I had bought on Vinyl, but no longer have the vinyl. But I got some Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed I had not purchased on Vinyl.

: This getting some great music by Chet and Jerry Rekindled my interest in having CDs by the two great Guitarist. So I purchased two Chet Atkins CDs and a CD by Speedy West and Jimmie Bryant, the first commercial CDs I have bought in the last 7 years. Napster acted as a kind of Sampler Site. It sparked my interest in my favorite Guitar Players once more and so I purchased three CDs and am going to purchase the Jerry Reed CD "Pickin." And I may purchase some Les Paul CDs.

: MP3 files are nice, but they are not the same as having a CD by your favorite Guitar Player. MP3 music does not have the Excellent Fidelity of the CD, it’s close, but not quite there. And There is a kind of personal value in owning the CD with the Art Work, and it’s something you can touch and see, it is real, not just a computer file.

: I think Napster is the greatest CD salesman to come along since radio. If you will notice the largest selling CDs have songs on Napster. I would bet that many Metalica CDs have been sold because music lovers got Metalica downloads from Napster.

: If the RIAA closes down Napster, it will be cutting the throat of the Music Writers, the Musical Artists who make CDs, and the Music Publishers. It will be cutting their throat financial wise for Napster is the Greatest recorded music salesman since radio started playing Recorded Music.

: Napster is not a Data Base of every song that has been recorded. It is a kind of sample site where a person can find samples and if they like the music, really like it, they will buy the CD. If they don’t like the music, they will not buy the CD.

: Napster and MP3 COM are creating a great interest in Recorded music which Generates CD and Musical Instrument Sales. How nice it would be to have broadband and listen to the CDs I have purchased on the MyMp3 COM program. But I just have a 56K modem and so the listen from the internet is in lo fi not hi fi, and I can hardly stand lo fi internet listening.

: I had not played my Guitar much in a few years when I first got the internet. Then I started recording my Guitar and emailing my Guitar songs to people. They liked the songs. This did a lot for me and made me play my Guitar more. Then I went on MP3 com and had some big time downloads of my songs and for the first time in my life I made money from the songs I wrote and recorded, quite a bit of money. And It is gratifying to know that your Guitar music is being listened to by people all over the world on MP3 Com.

: Then I went to Napster and that sparked my interest in commercially recorded music by my favorite Guitar Players and so now I’m buying CDs, Buying too many CDs, I must get control of my desire to buy the CDs of the Great Guitar Players.

: Napster is a CD Salesman, the best there is for those who surf the internet. If you play Guitar and go to Napster you are going to end up buying many CDs of the Guitar Players you download from Napster, if you are anywhere near normal.

: I’ll tell you one thing, If I had made it big in the Recording Music Business and someone put my recorded songs up for download on Napster I would be happy as I could be for I would know that my music is loved and the person who put my songs up wanted the world to hear my music. That is what really happens on Napster, people love the songs they put up for download and want the world to hear the great songs. To have someone put up a Song on Napster for download is a supreme compliment to a musician. It is also a way to get your songs heard and purchased when maybe people had forgotten that you exist, after your CD sales have gone down, your day in the Sun is gone.

: While Santana’s "Supernatural" CD was selling 3 million Copies, you could download every song from the CD from the Napster Web Site. So did people download the songs on the "Supernatural" CD from napster instead of purchasing the CD? A definite NO. If anything the Downloads from Napster caused the Santana Fans to go out and purchase the CD. How many CDs ever sell 3 million Copies, not Many.

: A poll on the Billboard Web Site revealed that over 64 percent of those who voted on whether Metalica was right in Suing Napster said "NO" they were not right, that Metalica Suing Napster was the same as Metalica suing it’s Fans who purchase the CDs made by Metalica. No doubt this suing Napster by Metalica is going to prevent many Metalica CD sales by Fans who are angry over the law suit.

: Hey guess what, because of MP3 music, and it making me want to play my Guitar again, I have purchased a new Guitar, so MP3 benefited Musical instruments sales as well as the CD sales. And I purchased a new audio mixer, and a magnetic pickup for my Acoustic Guitar.

: The short sited, UN-perceptive RIAA People, and the Music Artists who are against Napster and MP3 Com are trying to cut their own throats, financial wise. And if they should succeed in closing down Napster and the MyMP3 com portion of MP3 COM, they will have taken millions of dollars out of their own pockets in CD sales.

: Musicians want to be heard, they love this almost as much as playing their Guitars. Napster and MP3 Com are getting musicians heard. Both are incredible promotional web sites for Musicians. I hope that the Judges that hear these cases are not as UN-perceptive as the RIAA and the Artists who are suing both Napster and MP3 COM for the Artists, the Music Publishers, and the Recording Companies, and the Music Lovers of the world will come out the loser if these web sites are closed down.

The concept it great, and it could be made into what most people want, which is a place of sharing, innovation, and growth. how it could actually work. hmmm I see it working great. amazing really. my personal vision: I see a service that would fuel innovation, and imagination, and be used for recreation, learning, communication, and is based on honesty and fairness; generating commerce, and new business between individuals and companies that would never have had a chance to meet, I see a lot of free art, music, and information from people who are artists and scientists, and who freely share and interact with professionals, amatueres, and fans, alike, and who have respect, and don’t dis someone for not understanding, and they are here to learn as much as anyone else; because this is something new, and also because maybe this is something they only dreamed might have existed, but never expected. and as ideas flow, and all work and play together, exciting projects manifest, and we all celebrate each success as well as each step towards self-realization, and looking at the actual service itself, I see a range of other services that are attached directly or indirectly, some of which require us to pay, and others free, and there are so many options for the people creating and offering the services to showcase these inventions and tie them into each others inventions in meaningful ways, that their mutual efforts create a new paradym in the history of collaborative invention, and I see the users of the services mix and match and create very unique and personal interfaces, and do so with childlike ease, and these interfaces make the service something they not only can use, but because of the innovation and constant growth, it becomes something they will use and help to define, and it becomes a living growing extension of themselves and their dreams. and its all flowing and it all makes sense, and the interface part of the system becomes a thing to marvel at, and a source of ideas for many other industries, who, instead of capitalizing on the innovation and using their massive power to twist laws and steal the ideas fir unfust profit, approach with respect, and ask to participate, and invest without asking for firm commitments, or a final say on some specific aspects of how this works, they do it because they believe in it, and they want to be part of it, and reap rewards beyond the monetary, and they do offer advice and sponsership to other individuals and smaller companies, and they bring in new ideas to collaborate on, and for people that do this, and live for this, and love creating and selling, this makes a lot of sense. and so they are conduits to other needed ideas as much as any indivdual, and help in manufacturing and selling the products that society really needs in large quantity, and there is no mad rush to beat each other to the market and then bash each other to pieces out of fear that the other guy will bury you if you give him an edge, if it takes a bit more time to do it right, do it right, or if takes more time to do a different version, take the time, and because we are all fair and expect the same from other groups and industries that work together, the work we do and the experieces we share create a much better level of quality and there are much needed innovations that have transformed our lives, and we still believe in competition and lots of hard work, and maybe we compete even more than ever, because we feel like its fair and we aren’t working hard to be taken advantage of, so there are these new standards between companies and individuals who compete in a fair and open society, and the old ways and concepts of what power is and was, fade away, because we see they are not effective, and create mostly waste by comparison, I see this, and its funny and much to the disbelief of many who were railing against the "corporate whores" and tyranny of big business ( all of us) only a very short time before, because we have all grown into a global interdependant community, and are all corporate, yet individual, and we use this technology to reach each other and experience each other, and we don’t fear technology nor do we try to dominate by it , so we are allies, and condiuts to and from various points where innovation and markets intersect via this service, They work here, and we work there, and vice versa, and though we may be everywhere, we have no fear anywhere, because its not about that anymore. and when people outside of a group or organization who are new collabarate on a project, and have made it known that their efforts are not donated, (because they need to live) and that they need to paid, they don’t have to worry about spending months or years on something and expecting a return on their investment in time and or money, and they don’t have to fight for whats fair, in fact, it’s no longer something they even think about, that much, but knowing a persons needs, and the value of his work, and of the product, and all the specif ways things will breakdown and add up in the manufacturing and life cycle of this product, someone from the company who’s product this will be, who’s job it is to know all these things, and insure they are handled correctly, puts it together on paper, has it signed, and brings it back and hands it to the person whom has requested to be paid, along with an advance on the profits, and a thankyou card, and this is happening everywhere, just as it did in the days when a man looked another man in the eye and they agreed ona price and when it was done, be it six months or six years, it was handled, and with each and every step forward we gain trust and ideas flow even more, because people don’t waste time and energy protecting themselves against each other, and watching their backs like mad beasts and cannibals, and this change alone is changing the way business is being done globably. and all the while this is happening, there are new places to go and study, virutal worlds to experience, films and animated movies and hybrid experiements in entertainment being explored and sponsered by the film industry who have invested very much into this, and all the people from the various parts of that industry are here working together, learning, meeting people, sharing ideas, and we are exposed to, and by experiments that we’d never have been included in, and our sense of being connected is stronger, and our support and respect and love for each other is reflected in every country, as our governments are working together and sharing resources, and removing restrictions, and disarming, while at the same time, making agreements towards new international projects that will improve the the world in much needed wasy. Lots of dialog about restoration, and multiculturalism, developing natural resources and new sources of energy, needs of peoples in various regions, nature, eductaion, sustainable growth, definitions of growth, sharing of wealth, freedom, and all things that are requisite in order to create the kind of world we all want to live in and since this is where it started, yes there will be a lot of new music, musicians from different countries and cultures, some playing traditional musi on instruments thousands of years old, and others playing insruments they just finished creating, and plenty of experimentation and melding of spirits, and this experience alone is worth so much to them, and classical musicians will be introduced to classical instruments and devises that connect to their instrument but offer many ways to change and manipulate the traditinal range of sounds, and it will have opened a door to another place, they come back with ideas and innovations of their own, and I see mysterious musical ecxhanges between strangers, who play in ways and employ musical languages we’ve not heard before, and they record this and give it a name, and request that it be marked as free product and remain so for all time, and these are a tiny fraction of what we can all see and experience for real, if we do what is right by each other, but what I dont see, is contempt for law, and disregard for human rights, and all the types or treachery and malicious misuse of technology that the people who originally proposed this concept told us we would be evolving away from, and so I say to them, if you were pretending, be prepared to deal with people who aren’t, and who aren’t going to settle for anything less than what was promised. : : : Does the Napster software infringe on artists, labels and publishers copyrights? : : : The RIAA has accused Napster of not only facilitating, but encouraging the unlawful exchange of copyrighted music. And It is gratifying to know that your Guitar music is being listened to by people all over the world on MP3 Com. : : Then I went to Napster and that sparked my interest in commercially recorded music by my favorite Guitar Players and so now I’m buying CDs, Buying too many CDs, I must get control of my desire to buy the CDs of the Great Guitar Players. : : Napster is a CD Salesman, the best there is for those who surf the internet. If you play Guitar and go to Napster you are going to end up buying many CDs of the Guitar Players you download from Napster, if you are anywhere near normal. : : I’ll tell you one thing, If I had made it big in the Recording Music Business and someone put my recorded songs up for download on Napster I would be happy as I could be for I would know that my music is loved and the person who put my songs up wanted the world to hear my music. : : While Santana’s "Supernatural" CD was selling 3 million Copies, you could download every song from the CD from the Napster Web Site. So did people download the songs on the "Supernatural" CD from napster instead of purchasing the CD? A definite NO. If anything the Downloads from Napster caused the Santana Fans to go out and purchase the CD. How many CDs ever sell 3 million Copies, not Many. : : A poll on the Billboard Web Site revealed that over 64 percent of those who voted on whether Metalica was right in Suing Napster said "NO" they were not right, that Metalica Suing Napster was the same as Metalica suing it’s Fans who purchase the CDs made by Metalica. No doubt this suing Napster by Metalica is going to prevent many Metalica CD sales by Fans who are angry over the law suit. : : Hey guess what, because of MP3 music, and it making me want to play my Guitar again, I have purchased a new Guitar, so MP3 benefited Musical instruments sales as well as the CD sales. And I purchased a new audio mixer, and a magnetic pickup for my Acoustic Guitar. : : The short sited, UN-perceptive RIAA People, and the Music Artists who are against Napster and MP3 Com are trying to cut their own throats, financial wise. And if they should succeed in closing down Napster and the MyMP3 com portion of MP3 COM, they will have taken millions of dollars out of their own pockets in CD sales. : : Musicians want to be heard, they love this almost as much as playing their Guitars. : : : : Robert Lee Johnson : : The Guitar Man

: : : Ace frehley les paul by gibson,Any info on this guitar Reviews, pros&cons How much am i looking to spend on this, What guitar magazines did a review ? Besides The three pickups, is it a true custom les paul?

      :
: Okay, first off the cost, its 80 at Musicians Friend. To answer your other yes no question, it is custom. If you want to look like Ace Frehley, buy this one. Your right about the 3 pickups, I don’t know if you know it has Dimarzio pickups, not Gibson Hummies. They also have custom hardware, inlays, tuners, and headstock. Also I would like to ask you whether you are talking Epiphone or Gibson here. Epiphone I believe is the only producer of the guitar. If Gibson made one, I haven’t seen it, and it would probably be in the ballpark of ,800, thats if they made one. Now I haven’t seen a review of it, since it is made by a Korean maker, and they usually don’t review Epiphones. Now I will give a few suggestions. First, if you are not the #1 Kiss fan on the planet, and you are buying the guitar for quality purposes, don’t buy it. It has the diehards in mind, when making this one. Now I will give a few Epiphone 3 pickup guitars. First off, the LP Black beauty, ironically right next to the Ace Frehley one in the catalog. This guitar has gold hardware, nice black color, and has a nice 3 pickup sound, for 60 less. The G-400 is a custom Sg with 3 pickups, but I heard its on the cheappy side. Also if you want a Gibson type guitar, and are willing to pay upwards of 00, go for the real thing man. Go for a Sg special, or an Lp special, or even an Lp junior. I’m talking Gibsons, because between that and Danelectro’s, those are the only electric guitars I buy. If you want to go another way, thats alright to. I don’t what else you have in mind, and also your style, so I can’t elaborate.

: I found a Focus guitar by Kramer at an incredably low price and was wondering if theyt are good guitars

Anybody that tells you the Old Kramers were shit doesn’t know his butt from a hole in the wall. Certain Korean-made Strikers and the like weren’t all that good, but the American made guitars were second to none!!!!

: Barney Kessel was one of the Pioneers of Modern Jazz. In the 50s he had some Top Selling Jazz Guitar Albums. Barney Kessel was winner of many Jazz Polls in the 50s. He was a studio Guitarist and Played on many hit Pop Recordings in the 50s.

: I have a Barney Kessel Web Page that Gets an incredible amount of hits. The Great Guitar Player is Still well known and Popular.

: Barney Kessel Laid the Foundation for Modern Jazz, at least to some degree. He helped Jazz to evolve with his many great recordings. The Chords and Chord Progressions of Barney Kessel Took Jazz to new Ground.

: Have you ever heard any Barney Kessel Jazz Guitar Recordings?
: Do you own any Barney Kessel CDs?

: When I worked in a Collectible Jazz Record Shop Barney Kessel was the most sold of all the Great Be Bop Jazz Guitarists, and one of the Top Sellers in Collectible Jazz Recordings. The original Vinyl Recordings of Barney Kessel were priced as high as 00.00. Most likely his Collectible Vinyl is selling much higher at this time. In my Opinion the Very Best Barney Kessel Recordings can be found on the original Vinyl Recordings. I had the "To Swing or Not To Swing" Album and considered it Barney Kessel’s best Recording. When I sold this recording in 1985 it was worth 00.00. The Collectible Jazz Dealers cannot keep a Barney Kessel Original Album for very long.

Is it the strings buzzing or your pickups buzzing when you are not playing and the volume is on?
If it is your pickups you can check two things.
One try and move away from your amp, teles love to buzz and fi a light is on the same frequenct as it then she will make noise.
Second make sure that the electrical tape seperating the pick ups from the rest of the body, underneath the pickups is still there.
If it is still ther ethen go and get some more of that kind of tape and pu tmore on your guitar. See if that helps.

: : Does anyone know where I can get any info on the "Breezysound" Telecaster copy, and the Les Paul copy please? I’ve got two different breezysound guitars which are superb, a 50’s copy and a 60’s copy, they sound totally different and the yone control is better than USA standard Teles – I’m trying to find a Les Paul copy to try and possibly buy.

Tokai made quite a few variations of teles. Some were stock Fender knock-offs, others customized creations. I don’t think that you can find any one source for history. I just recently found a "breezysound" tele that has a rosewood fretboard, bound body with a (curly maple?) laminated top, and six-position bridge. A bit beat up, but quite the player. I would guess that Tokai made just about all of the major Tele models at some point. All Parts guitars is now the US distributor.

Speak of the Devil! I just bought a brand-spanking new Tokai copy of a Les Paul ’59 Flame Top today!!(the pickups sound unbelievably like old PAFs).
They’re actually back in business (until of course the next round of lawsuits from Fender and Gibson.) I bought mine (in Canada) at "MacAulay’s Music Mart" (in Cambridge, Ontario,..near Kitchener).
      Pete’s store # is (519) 653-5060.
At the moment he’s got a goldtop w. P90s,…a cherry-burst w. humbuckers, and a sweet sweet Les Paul Special in "TV" yellow w. P90s. Several other Tokai LPs,…I stopped looking after the Flame-top became the object of my lust.

The reason metallica is sueing napster is becuase they had the song I Disappear out to millions of people before it was ever officially released. Also since the internet sales for bigger bands have been on the rise. If you’ve only got a few good songs out there then your band will pretty much get destroyed becuase noone will by your cd when they can just download the music right off of the internet. Mp3’s are ILLEGAL unless you own the cd. Napster made it possible for millions of people to have a song not even released yet so there is no way anyone could have it legally yet which will kill record sales for metallica’s new album. Metallica is a band who can afford to take the loss in sales which is why they have to be the ones to sue napster. anyone smaller couldn’t take the loss and the band would go under. It was bound to happen sooner or later anyway. Napster is finally going to be taken off the web which it needs to be.

I bought this guitar because when I picked it up I was floored.the action was a dream, the tonal variety outstanding, and the cosmetics first class all the way.Epiphone also makes a cheaper version of this guitar, but the Gibson edition is an exact duplicate of Ace’s complete with Dimarzio Super distortion and 2 megadrives. Its a bank buster at ,999.99, but out of the 4 Les Pauls I own it is by far the best.I had the ace face painted over by a local luthier(thought it sucked, only thing I didn’t like about the guitar)but other than that it is stock.I’m not the world’s biggest Kiss fan,I bought it because of its quality and playability.Gibson rocked the house on this one.

I have a Anderson ( warmoth made, Anderson stamped ) Thinline telle, with a AAAAA quilt top. The electronics has been changed to a strat neck p.u. and an English made p.u. in the ashtray. Because the body is semi hollow the balance is depending on the weight of neck and hardware.
It looks fantastic but I’ll either replace the strat p.u by a P90 – or sell it for $ 1500 :-

: I am listen to a Napster song as I’m writing these comments. I like napster, they have no case against them, it likes if somebody loaned me a book, after they read it. I think the artists deserve money, but not 0 for a CD. Why don’t they charge like for a CD, and they charge ./sync/sync.sh.25 for a song at a MP3 site. I sit in the middle I guess. I am a consumer, but I’m also an Artist. If I came out with an hit, would I want people listening for free? Hmm, this is a tough one.

Are you crazy? ? I don’t have the exact figures at my fingertips but I think you will find that the actual royalties paid out to the artist for one CD is mere nickles. The rest of the 8 or so actually goes to production costs and advertising. Not the artist.

When I was a kid in 1973, I copied all kinds of music. Still have some of those copies. It was called cassettes. In the meantime I have acquired over 400 records, 200 tapes, and 500 CD’s.

The record companies have done mighty well by me. I daresay there was no more money in the till. So screw Metalickers and Doctor Hay. I call for a boycott of both artists and anyone who endorses their extortion of the consumer and the internet in general.

I’ve got a Gretch Orange Hollow Tele. What I can tell you is that I find that the sound of the pickups is probably the understated aspect of the guitar. Just by changing the volume knob you get a huge range of tonal colors. And the thing is light as a feather. I don’t know the woods. Anderson use a lot of different woods but I have never taken the time to find out what is in this one.

Oh and most importantly, I have stopped looking for a new guitar. This does it for me. And I am an incurable gear addict.

Now if I could find the perfect amp……….

: The RIAA has accused Napster of not only facilitating, but encouraging the unlawful exchange of copyrighted music. Do you agree?

: Metallica & Dr. Dre have joined the RIAA in filling suits against Napster. Should independent artists be concerned with the popularity of music sharing sites?

I went to Napster and found many obscure recordings you cannot find in CD Shops, or they are very difficult to find. I downloaded some Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed songs, most of which I had bought on Vinyl, but no longer have the vinyl. But I got some Chet Atkins and Jerry Reed I had not purchased on Vinyl.

This getting some great music by Chet and Jerry Rekindled my interest in having CDs by the two great Guitarist.

MP3 files are nice, but they are not the same as having a CD by your favorite Guitar Player. MP3 music does not have the Excellent Fidelity of the CD, it’s close, but not quite there. And There is a kind of personal value in owning the CD with the Art Work, and it’s something you can touch and see, it is real, not just a computer file.

I think Napster is the greatest CD salesman to come along since radio. If you will notice the largest selling CDs have songs on Napster. I would bet that many Metalica CDs have been sold because music lovers got Metalica downloads from Napster.

If the RIAA closes down Napster, it will be cutting the throat of the Music Writers, the Musical Artists who make CDs, and the Music Publishers. It will be cutting their throat financial wise for Napster is the Greatest recorded music salesman since radio started playing Recorded Music.

Napster is not a Data Base of every song that has been recorded. It is a kind of sample site where a person can find samples and if they like the music, really like it, they will buy the CD. If they don’t like the music, they will not buy the CD.

Napster and MP3 COM are creating a great interest in Recorded music which Generates CD and Musical Instrument Sales. How nice it would be to have broadband and listen to the CDs I have purchased on the MyMp3 COM program. But I just have a 56K modem and so the listen from the internet is in lo fi not hi fi, and I can hardly stand lo fi internet listening.

I had not played my Guitar much in a few years when I first got the internet.

Then I went to Napster and that sparked my interest in commercially recorded music by my favorite Guitar Players and so now I’m buying CDs, Buying too many CDs, I must get control of my desire to buy the CDs of the Great Guitar Players.

Napster is a CD Salesman, the best there is for those who surf the internet. If you play Guitar and go to Napster you are going to end up buying many CDs of the Guitar Players you download from Napster, if you are anywhere near normal.

I’ll tell you one thing, If I had made it big in the Recording Music Business and someone put my recorded songs up for download on Napster I would be happy as I could be for I would know that my music is loved and the person who put my songs up wanted the world to hear my music.

While Santana’s "Supernatural" CD was selling 3 million Copies, you could download every song from the CD from the Napster Web Site. So did people download the songs on the "Supernatural" CD from napster instead of purchasing the CD? A definite NO. If anything the Downloads from Napster caused the Santana Fans to go out and purchase the CD. How many CDs ever sell 3 million Copies, not Many.

A poll on the Billboard Web Site revealed that over 64 percent of those who voted on whether Metalica was right in Suing Napster said "NO" they were not right, that Metalica Suing Napster was the same as Metalica suing it’s Fans who purchase the CDs made by Metalica. No doubt this suing Napster by Metalica is going to prevent many Metalica CD sales by Fans who are angry over the law suit.

Hey guess what, because of MP3 music, and it making me want to play my Guitar again, I have purchased a new Guitar, so MP3 benefited Musical instruments sales as well as the CD sales. And I purchased a new audio mixer, and a magnetic pickup for my Acoustic Guitar.

The short sited, UN-perceptive RIAA People, and the Music Artists who are against Napster and MP3 Com are trying to cut their own throats, financial wise. And if they should succeed in closing down Napster and the MyMP3 com portion of MP3 COM, they will have taken millions of dollars out of their own pockets in CD sales.

Musicians want to be heard, they love this almost as much as playing their Guitars.

I find the best way is to work out the bass part first by finding the note/key on the 6th string.
Work out the chords. Listen to the song so that you can remember the line then try and work it out by ‘ear’ . Knowing the Key and the chord pattern will help enormously in this regard. Good luck Bob

i think it sucks. the vast majority of people don’t pay for mp3’s anyway. something needs to be done about it. musicians NEED money. they get most of it from cd sales, not live gigs n stuff. other people get payed for what they do, so why should’nt we?

and i think if you like a song, u buy it. if one cd shop lowered their prices then most would shop there. but no one will cause all these outlets are prolly in cahoots. and that sucks.

I find that picking with the wrist is a lot slower and less precise. Picking with the forearm is a smaller, faster motion. The proof’s in the pudding, just try and get any kind of pick speed with wrist picking and you’ll fall short. Don’t even think about doing eruption style tremolo picking with the wrist, it just doesn’t work. That’s not to say that wrist picking is useless, its good when you’re playing slower stuff and you want more control over tone, I find it easier to control tone when wrist picking. You can go for a strong attack by plucking with the pick, or a weaker attack by letting the pick glide over the strings, maybe even angling the pick (which is horrible if you want fast stacatto stuff.) It’s all in what you want to play, but when you’re going for speed, forearm’s the only way to go.

I am listen to a Napster song as I’m writing these comments.

I tried to learn 6 string for years including instruction in college. I never got the hang of it. 6 months ago I discovered the bass and have much better luck. Now I am even start to here the notes beats and progressions. After a beginner video I started working on Light The Fire Again and after many many hours I can reproduce closely. I am looking for some good jams but don’t want to be to challenged to quite that extent for the next ten or so. I am open to and welcome suggestion. Thanks

Barney Kessel was one of the Pioneers of Modern Jazz. In the 50s he had some Top Selling Jazz Guitar Albums. Barney Kessel was winner of many Jazz Polls in the 50s. He was a studio Guitarist and Played on many hit Pop Recordings in the 50s.

I have a Barney Kessel Web Page that Gets an incredible amount of hits. The Great Guitar Player is Still well known and Popular.

Barney Kessel Laid the Foundation for Modern Jazz, at least to some degree. He helped Jazz to evolve with his many great recordings. The Chords and Chord Progressions of Barney Kessel Took Jazz to new Ground.

Have you ever heard any Barney Kessel Jazz Guitar Recordings?
Do you own any Barney Kessel CDs?

When I worked in a Collectible Jazz Record Shop Barney Kessel was the most sold of all the Great Be Bop Jazz Guitarists, and one of the Top Sellers in Collectible Jazz Recordings.

There are many Barney Kessel CDs that you can purchase from the Online CD Retailers.

The standard nut, could take from .08-.13 string tension, thats about the limit. For instance, you can’t put bass strings on a guitar. Any package saying guitar strings can be used. I have never seen anything go above .13. This is for any guitar.

: I’m looking for suggestions as to content of a promo kit that would be appropriate for handing out to local live music venues. Obviously, a B&W photo, band bio, and CD will go in the kit. Any other suggestions? I would appreciate input from musicians in all genres, so that I have a representative sample of what’s being done out there. Thanks.

I have some unrelated advise. If there is live music at say a music store, like a big tower records, ask the manager whether the store has a local music section. If there is a section, ask them if they could put your CD in one of thier listen stations. Also when you put a kit together, add maybe a bit of mystery to your photos and stuff, like make your pictures darker, come up with an interesting symbol things like that. Also if you haven’t done it already, create a website. The internet has become a hot spot to check out music, and utilize that. There are also some sites where you could post Mp3’s of your music. Thats about it, well anyway good luck to your band

I’m looking for suggestions as to content of a promo kit that would be appropriate for handing out to local live music venues. Obviously, a B&W photo, band bio, and CD will go in the kit. Any other suggestions? I would appreciate input from musicians in all genres, so that I have a representative sample of what’s being done out there. Thanks.

Since my princeton chorus has no speaker out, is there any way I can connect up a speaker cab? Can I install a 15" speaker in the amp? What would be envolved in doing the 15" etc.

: Hey all. I’m new to this site. I read down the page a bit and you seem like a knowledgeable bunch. Here’s the question…

: I’ve come to love the sound you get when you run a really hot signal through an amp’s clean channel…vs. using a distortion channel. Right now I have some pedals that are working, but my rig includes a compressor…just to beef the signal a bit. I’m not at all a fan of compression, so I was wondering what pedals are out there (NOT SOLID STATE) that are tube driven and would beef the crap out of my tone. I’ve looked into the Ibanez TS808, but they’re tough to find.

: So the question…any suggestions as to other tube-containing pedals that I might be able to pick up? Has anyone used the one that Snarling Dog makes? Thanks.

: Hey, thanks for your reply. I went ahead and picked it up because it sounded really nice, and I felt like I was getting agreat deal. I also wanted to ask you if you could give me an idea on how I would go about exploring the tex mex pickups. I am a beginning guitarist and I am still a little ignorant on what pick ups are all about. Thanks again for your help.

I’m not sure whether you get a 3-way or a 5-way switch on your guitar, but I will explain the 3-way to get your feet wet. When you put the switch foward, you get the Tex-mex pickup, which give you that real cool Stevie Ray Vaughn type of glassy sound. This foward position give you the real "strat" sound. When you put the switch back into the rythem position you get a really gutsy humbucker, that gives you a cool type of "super strat" sound (Ibanez, Jackson, ESP). In the middle you get a mix of both sounds. When I play, I change pickups constantly, sometimes 3-4 times a song. I set my volume and tone accordingly, and I get a real mixed up sound. Use the single Tex-mex, for when you are soloing, because single coil pickups are so good for artificial harmonics. I think that is the only time I use the treble pickup on my guitars. For the most part, stick to the humbucker, or stick the switch in the middle, because you get the most output from that. Enjoy the guitar!!!

Hello my name is Scott Jones.

I have the vision of doing what I do in Nashville.

Need a song? A guitarist? A new arrangement? Strings or horns arranged? Artist recording a C.D. needing those objective ears to guide the recording/songwriting process?
      I believe we should talk.

Future endeavors include contracted music director/guitarist for the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences Mid-America Emmy Awards.

I would love to share recordings of my playing and arrangements with anyone who desires a professional relationship.

      Hello out there!!

I subscribed to Guitar Weekly almost a year ago, and often something fun comes up to go a little further with. MP3’s are just that thing I am talking about. I don’t know that I agree with the "stimulating CD sales" argument, but I do think MP3’s have done something more important, and just in time too. With this world lumbering further and further into the perils of capitalism, this most amazing sanctuary of music and all it’s energy has come under heavy economic pressure. I don’t want to say too much, but I do speak as a performing musician, and what I have to say is this. MP3’s have brought the power back to the lonely musician whose talent and inspiration, have for so long now, been exploited. I do think that sales from studio albums will be generally decreasing over time, but there is one great big catch: Live concerts!! I don’t know about all you guys, but I play my music by the feel and everyone who gets to share that with me feels it too. That is the beauty of music, and that is something MP3’s will never capture. The profit in music (economically) comes from the fact that you are selling emotion. It is the only such industry to do this. For the true musicians who play because they have to play, and to the bands and solo artists who groove from the bottom of your hearts…don’t be worried about MP3’s – the power is back to you and not the distributor – that being said, the real money in the future will lie in live concerts and the selling of live recordings at concerts.

James Chapman – Long live the love.

I’m a guitarist and I have been diagnosed with tendonitis/carpal tunnel syndrome.I have tried everyting from physical therapy to accupunture, but nothing has helped that much. I’m still able to play gigs and teach lessons, but if I woodshed, the pain becomes pretty severe. I would like to talk to anyone who has/had this type of problem. Also, I havent talked to any musicians that have had successful surgery. Any help is greatly appreciated.

I know you said you were looking fot a tube pedal, but have you tried out the fulldrive2, by fulltone? I think it’s the best sounding overdrive I’ve heard. Check it out at http://www.fulltone.com. I’m throwing my ts-9 away. The other pedal that I use is a mesa boogie v twin. It’s got 2 12 ax7’s in it. I use it for more of a hard rock type sound but it does have 2 channels. The only problem is that you cant set the levels for both channels seperately. There’s also the maxon od808 and some guy named analog Mike that does tube screamer mods, but I havent heard either of these yet.

Has anyone ever heard of a guitar called RINKEN CUSTOM?
It was sold between 1950s and 1970s at a shop in Okinawa, near Kadena air base.
It could be double or triple-necked, coated with Japanese lacquer.

: I have been recently shopping around for an electric guitar, and I came across a Fender Cyclone with Tex Mex pic ups for 286 dollars marked down from 600 dollars, and I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on this model and explain to me exactly what the Tex Mex pic ups do, and what is the major difference in this guitar from the other Fender models.

      : Thanks for your help!

First off if its in good shape, or if its new, your getting a good deal. I like the Cyclone, its a lot different then a strat of a tele. Its surprising that I like it, because I don’t like fenders all to much. First the pickups: A tex-mex is a kind of pickup used on some strats, its real retro, and it better then standard ones. They took the tex-mex pickup from a bridge position and put it up on the neck. You could tell, because the neck pickup is angled. The really cool part, is the humbucker on the bridge. I heard its really good. I once had a S/H setup on my Jackson, and it gave it a diverse sound. The only major difference is that it looks like a combo of a jaguar and a strat.

I Own the Cyclone myself, as others have said its got a Mustang Body but the pickups and bridge are different, to start its got the one Tex mex single coal which if found on a lot of Fender products however you will not find the Atomic Humbucker on any oterh guitar BUT the Cyclone and believe me t a nice peice of work. : : I have been recently shopping around for an electric guitar, and I came across a Fender Cyclone with Tex Mex pic ups for 286 dollars marked down from 600 dollars, and I was wondering if anyone could give me any information on this model and explain to me exactly what the Tex Mex pic ups do, and what is the major difference in this guitar from the other Fender models. : : Thanks for your help! : First off if its in good shape, or if its new, your getting a good deal. : Go to e-bay and watch the bidding and you will see about what things are going for. Only a few go for too much. Most go for a decent price.
The hamer is not that rare and most of your sensible bidders dropped out at their max and i’m sure you didn’t go too much higher so i figure that you didn’t pay too much.

Hey…I’m new here, but one of you helped me a couple of days ago, so I thought I’d return the favor…here goes….

Transcribing melodies and chordal material are completely two different beasts. For melodic, single-note stuff, I would suggest picking up some kind of computer interval training program. Once you learn what a tritone sounds like compared to a major seventh compared to a minor third, placing these intervals in the context of a melody should be no problem. Then all you gotta do is memorize the rhythms….gosh…that makes it sound so simple…

As far as figuring out chords, what you need to remember is that *MOST* popular music follows the conventions of western chord theory…Tonic-subdominant-dominant being the standard progression, with maybe some ii of V’s, b5 substitutions or other chromatic-type chords thrown in for good measure…yadda yadda yadda.

What I would do here is buy an introductory Music Theory book (the textbook type, not the "Theory for Idiot Guitarists/fits in the neck of your guitar case" type). Learn it, live it, love it. Play the progressions you read about until your fingers fall off. If you don’t know how to read the treble clef yet, LEARN. You’ll thank me for it. Once you can play the chords, you’ll be able to identify them within the context of a song.

Most of the music I transcribe is in the car, away from any instrument, or on the fly during an impromptu coffee shop performance. The progressions are so standard that you can tell what’s coming before it gets there.

      Have fun. Good luck.

I’m afraid the only way to go here is hard work. I got started on easier songs for example stuff that just has simple rhythm guitar and maybee a simple solo.

If you keep ploughing through the tunes for fun you’ll find that in a couple of months your ears will be a lot quicker at picking up chords, notes etc. a CD.

Remember the faster it goes the harder it is to transcribe but you will start to recognise patterns and be able to anticipate where a song is going.

Check out my site for some stuff I’ve transcribed and played.

First of all it depends on "what do you want"??? if its a Gibson then buy the LP "Custom" three pickups the older the model, the better the sound ,BUT!
what type of sound do you want is also important, the price here varies, from 200 up….
      The bottom line "Your Choice"…

I would have to disagree with the G-400 being on the "cheappy side". I own one and I think that it’s probably the best sounding guitar you can get in that price range, but that’s just my opinion. I love the thing though and would recommend it to anyone looking for a guitar that doesn’t have a thousand dollars to spend.

I just recently won a 1981 Hamer U.S.A Special in an auction. The man said the guitar is in very good codition but has a few minor nicks and dings. It has the darkest green flame top finish I have ever seen; and it has Dimarzio Pickups. I ended up paying 50 +S/h and tax. I was wondering if thats to much money for one of those used and if so or not, how much do you think they’re worth??

      Here’s my contribution !

I’ve just finished work on my Homepage at http://www.bensnet.fsnet.co.uk

I’m posting stuff which I think may be interesting to other axmeisters.

Please check it out and mail me to say what you think.

      Anyway, here’s the story.
      The Marshall Story

Throughout the history of the world, one thing has never changed: Men and their power tools. Power. Tools. Together they make Power Tools. Tools which not only do things that tools do, but electrically at the same time. Therefore this brings us to the advent of the Electric Guitar. The guitar: a tool. The electric guitar: a Power Tool. The electric guitar combined 4 important elements:

      1. A guitar 2. Volume 3. Electricity 4. An Amplifier

All of which became a veritable weapon when combined (like the Power Rangers)

The possibilities were endless. A guitar, an instrument to make music, could
be combined with electricity, to create an "electric guitar". This "electric
guitar" could be plugged into an amplifier. This amplifier could be turned up
to produce VOLUME. But a louder guitar was not enough. Thor not only had a
hammer, but a magical one at that. Zeus didn’t only rule the universe, but
he could throw lightning bolts. Thus, with this insight, this brings us
      to…………………DISTORTION!!!!

Distortion. It was uncontrollable, yet could be controlled. By overdriving
the speakers of the afforementioned "amplifier", the sound of the speakers
being chewed up created a pretty spiffy sound (albeit a loud one, considering
the increase in VOLUME (see above) Destroying speakers for the sake of kickass
sound soon became too inefficient a way to create the effect, which brings us
to a certain englishman: Jim Marshall. This guy bought into the idea of "hey,
this "distortion" sounds pretty cool, but I can’t afford the speakers" and
eventually created Marshall Amplification, the company who’s name is synonymous
with "Rock and Roll", "Crunch", and "Loud." Marshall’s amps created distortion
by overdriving the tubes in the preamp, creating reliable, controlled distortion.
Marshall Amplification has been a staple of rock for 50 years, and will continue
      to indefinitely.

So, the man has his electric guitar and an amplifier. What’s he to do now (besides
learn how to play)? Simple. He outgrows his amp and foolishly decides he’s going
to buy a new one. So, what’s your pleasure? Well, being a man of action he saunters
past the 25W amps, past the 33W’ers, 50W? Nah.

It’s loud BUT its NOT 100W. So he buys the 100W Marshall. And he is happy. He now
has his magical hammer; his lightning bolts. Only one hitch, no speaker cabs. So
he then decides hmm….big amp-big speakers. So again he goes shopping. lx12,
hah…not big enough. 2×10….nope. 2×12…..close but no cigar. 4×10…hmmm big
but not as big as the mighty 4×12. So he makes his purchase. Removes the seats from
the back of his car and proceeds to stuff the mighty 4×12 into the back. And once
again he is happy. He gets home. Goes to plug it in and sees….SPEAKER OUTPUT A and B.
"You mean I can plug in TWO OF THEM??". He quickly uses his masculine reasoning. 2
is better than 1. 1 is less than 2. I have 1. CRAP!. He hops in the car and runs
down to the store. On the way, he has a brain fart. He reasons "If I get a 2×12,
then I’ll be able to use the smaller cab, the larger cab, or both." So he proceeds
to buy the 2×12. This is, of course, logical thinking, but who is he kidding? He’s
gonna use ALL 8 12’s whether he’s practicing or touring. That’s just the way it is.
Any how, This time he is pleased, but not as happy as the guy that owns 2 4×12’s,
but more or less as happy as a guy with 8 12’s can be (which is pretty happy, mind you.)
He gets home. Plugs that 2×12 into OUTPUT B, and steps back to admire his handiwork.
He sees 8 feet of Marshall. And once again he is happy. So he plugs in, turns on,
lets loose. The ensuing sonic explosion knocks out his electricity, screws up the
foundation of his house, scares the cat away for 2 days, and all up and down the
block, babies are crying. Once again he is happy. Well aware that his Marshall
has more or less destroyed his house, he whips out his power tools in an attempt
to fix what his new power tools did. After witnessing the destruction caused by
this mighty mountain of an amp, he is now convinced that satan lives in a black
and gold house called "Marshall" and that operating such a machine can–and will-
-end the world. He then regards his new crowd pleaser with awe and respect–and fear.

In the end, he sells the black and gold skyscraper and purchases a Line6 POD.
      Once again, he is happy.

: Two missionaries and their guide are walking through the jungle when they heard "BOOM BOOM…BOOM BOOM…". Concerned, they asked the guide, "What is that sound?". The guide says "No worry, we safe. Only drums". After an hour of constant "Boom BOOMing" the drums begin to pound harder and faster. They ask the guide "What is happening?". The guide replies "No worry, we safe. Only drums." A little later the drums intensify again. The guide, reading their minds, turns and says "No worry, we safe. Only drums.". A little while later the drums stop. The missionaries turn to their guide and say "Gee… I’m sure glad the drums stopped, I feel safer now". The guide, with an obvious look of panic on his face says "We in great danger". The missionaries, horror struck ask "Why? The drums have stopped!". The guide replies "When Drums stop, BASS SOLO BEGINS!"

hi, i really want the bass, so i have something that a friend did with his bass, its not gross, but its funny to me,…….
one day my friend had come over to my house, and he brought his bass. he was learning new ways to pick, he doesnt like picks, so he uses his fingers. Well, i need water so i told him i would be back in a few secs, as i left the room i heard this loud note, so i thought he was just playing around and contuined at my search for water, here the actual funny part, when i got back, i had found my friends fingers weaved into the strings of his 4 string, it was obivous that he was in pain and we had to take him to the hostial to get his fingers unstuck….. every one in the waitting room was laughing at him, and now he considers picks more often.
i find it funny, he never did tell me how he got his fingers in his strings, but every time i bring it up, he changes the subject as fast as i brought it up, so i think ill let him keep it to himself.

As far as I know and have experienced myself, the best way for speed picking is to move your wrist and not your arm.
Your forearm is much longer and heavier than your hand. If you move your forearm you will need more energy than for just moving your hand. Since the hand is much smaller the movement can also be a lot more precise. Just try it and always practise with a metronome. Start slow and gradually speed up. That´s the best way to become more precise and faster.

I’ve been playing guitar for a bit over two years now.. and im starting to improve alot… one thing i find is off, is my picking technique.. i was told by an old teacher that the best way to pick(for speed) is with the wrist motionless and moving from the forearm, this is the way i pick now, and i can get some speed with it…

however, a lot of articles i read say that the picking action should come from the wrist with the arm motionless…

i wanted to know which way is better? and why? and should i change???

: : I found a Focus guitar by Kramer at an incredably low price and was wondering if theyt are good guitars

: You weren’t seeing things, they are very inexpensive, but they are incredibly crappy. The original Kramers were a piece of shit, but these are actually worse. They are made of cheap Plywood, and I think a maple neck. But the worst thing is that the pickups sound like mud. I have a Danelectro, and these things are cheap korean imports also, but the difference is that they have cool retro, lipstick pickups (like the neck pickup on a tele). To me if your going to pay nothing for a guitar, buy the Dano. If you really want to buy an "S" type guitar, buy a Squier, the new ones actully look nice. Don’t buy a Kramer
if you think the old kramers are crappy than you dont know shit

Thanks.

I usually make recommendations about solid state pedals, because there are more of them on the market, they are more affordable, and thats what I use. I also use old analog effects that sound tube driven, but not what you are looking for. I found a really cool all-tube distortion lately, but I’m not going to buy it. I’m not paying 70 for a distortion, but I thought with your dilemma, you would do anything for the sound. This is what I saw, it was a Budda Phat-man Tube distortion. It uses a 12AX7 I think, I didn’t take a good look at it, but it sounds amazing. Thats as close as you get to the real thing. I do highly recommend a Sansamp Gt2 amp simulator. I use this thing constantly, and really rocks. It digitally simulates tube sounds, through my amp, and it very versatile.

: : Ace frehley les paul by gibson,Any info on this guitar Reviews, pros&cons How much am i looking to spend on this, What guitar magazines did a review ? Besides The three pickups, is it a true custom les paul?

Okay, first off the cost, its 80 at Musicians Friend. I don’t what else you have in mind, and also your style, so I can’t elaborate.

there is this polish drummer his name i manuel & he plays in a raegae band 1 day at rehersal manuel was just not keeping time..this angered his band mates he was adding extra fills coming in at all different times & tempos so finally the rest of the band had become fed up with manuel so they took his stool & placed it in the center of a circle they had drawn in the dirt and said "dont set foot outside this circle"…the the bass player takes manuels drumstix & slams them through all the heads on his drum kit…manuel begins to giggle…seeing this the guitar player get a hammer & starts beating on the shell & stands… manuel laughs a little louder…enraged the lead singer gets a can of gas pours it all over manuels kit then sets it ablaze …manuel begins laughing histarically confused the band members ask manuel."we’ve totally destroyed your drum kit & its burning as we speak.""what do you find so funny ?"manuel gathers him self and responds "while you were busy destroying my kit … i stepped out of the circle 3 times"
