Takamine F390 MS

I want to sell my Takamine F390 MS accoustic guitar. It is a beautiful full body guitar with curly maple and mother of pearl inlay. It is literally new although 20 years old. Never used. What should I ask for it?

Re: Takamine F390 MS

in good shape these are often worth MORE than the real Guild. There was one on ebay recently for $1500

Re: Takamine F390 MS

I bought an '82 F390-MS at Trading Musician for $499. without case last year. Liked the sound as much as the Guilds for twice that. Probably got ripped off though. I can find nothing on the web at all on this particular guitar-except for your post. I also wonder about the value.

Re: Takamine F390 MS

Did a little research and... - Correction: Mine is a 1978 model, and apparently they are worth twice as much as you might think due to their rarity. Also they have the distinctive logo that looks like Guild's. Absolutely nothing on the web that I can find about them. All I know is that mine is one of the most incredible sounding and playing guitars ever. The aging helps, of course, and I've heard the late 70's were the best for Takamine. I've heard of a 12 string model going for $800. I would never sell mine as nothing I know of sounds or plays better for under $1500. I tried out vintage Guilds and Gibsons at the same time prepared to spend up to $1500 and NONE were like this.

Re: Takamine F390 MS

I have a 1977 F390 MS. It is a great playing guitar. Bought it in the mid eighties for $300 at the Starving Musician in Santa Clara, CA. Just had it tuned up. Love it.
