Levin acoustic - built in 1925

Posted by Henry on Wed, 08/22/07 - 22:53:36.

Howdy: can someone give me some info on a Levin acoustic guitar with serial number 55540. I believe they call this a "parlor guitar". Inside the guitar reads "Herman Carlson Levin" musikinstrumentfabrik Göteborg
It has no fancy trimmings. There are no fret dots either. Can you tell me what this model is called and approximately what the guitar is worth.
It is in excellent playing condition. Sounds beautiful. Thanks, Henry in Jakobstad, Finland.

Re: Levin acoustic - built in 1925

I have some Levin catalogs from the 20:s and 30:s, I will have a look and come back with what I find.

I can warmly recommend som forums in Sweden where a few enthusiastic guys talk about old instruments:

Magnus: thanks for showing interest in my inquiry. I have one more piece of info regarding my Levin guitar. The headstock is like the one on classical nylon stringed guitars.(the tuning pegs hang down under the headstock)The serial number is 55540, if that´s of any help. Tack for now.

Quite recently many of the Levin catalogs were published on a website in Sweden. I am shure You will find Your model in the 1925 catalog.

Good Luck!
