Had one for a while. It's a nice double-cutwaway guitar, but now I have a Yamaha SG 1500 and it's much better. It is a lot heavier, which means you have better sustain. The neck is also a little better. If you're looking for a Yamaha SG, my advice is wait until you find a SG 1500 or SG 2000. They're a lot better guitar than the SG-500. I paid $400 for my SG-1500 and it's worth it. I wasn't satisfied with the SG-500.

Re: YamahaSG 500

: Heavier is not alway better. The heavier the guitar the wood the lower down the tree, the more compressed and hence the duller it will sound. Ideally mid-weight provides the best sustain.
