: 0pinions on Takamine or Ovation?

Having played both, I prefer the Tak over an Ovat any time. The main reason being that I think ovations do not sound very good unplugged. Also the rounded plastic backs cause the guitar to slide off of my lap without a strap on. When I perform acoustic(often sitting down on a bar stool)I hate wearing a strap as it restricts my body movement. However,"Plugged-In", the Ovat. can really rock ! Just look how many professionals use them.It's stricktly a matter of personal choice and you should play both before making a purchase.

I had the oppertunity to borrow a Sada Yairi model 710 for a few months from a close friend. I offered to buy it from him but he wouldn't (I don't blame him). Unfortunatly the previous owners had no respect for such things and carved various phrases into the top, though not too deep. Nevertheless, the guitar sounds excellent and I would personally hang on to it if I owned one.

They didn't make these in the '70s. These were made in '85 and '86. Also check out the Fender Performer. Same era, same quality, same weirdness, same cool vibe, different cool tones.

i own a pac 412 and it is really clean sounding and it is the best value guitar i've played
