Hello - I have a Laney Pro Tube head and need some help ~ are there any modifications that I can do to cut down on the db boost when running a effects processor through the effects loop? I am getting TOO hot of an output.

Dime runs his signature guitar through a furman eq.,
a digitech whammy pedal and a sure wireless system
into his amp.. and then in his effects loop their
are various effects (phaser, delay, flanger, chorus),
compresors, gates, noise reducers, and another furman eq.
now dimes amp.. has 300 watts of power.. and he runs it
into a cab with 4 x 12" speakers in it.. and then in to a cab
with 2 x 15" speakers in it..
if you don't have all of that equipment but want a similar
sound the best thing to do is to set your gain at
about 8 and crank up your bass to about 9 1/2 and put your
trebble at about 6 and then tottaly cut out your mids
thats where it counts ... no mids... that will drop
your volume but it sounds so good...
you might want to get some good pickups too.. seymore
duncan screamin' demon's are what I use.. they sound
so good..

Ok I found the warhead and it is a 300 wat Randel warhead. That is what he plays. You can look at it at randel warhead and surch web.

My brother-in-law has high praise for the Fender Pro Junior. I like the Crate VC508 which has a surprisingly pro sounding overdrive/distortion for such a small amp. As I recall the Crate VC508 won a Guitar Player magazine shootout a few years back. Check Harmony Central and Guitar Player Online for further insight. Good Hunting!!!

Ibanez Floyd Rose Liscense Temelo

i have an Ibanez S470 with a liscensed Floyd Rose Tremelo. I'm looking for a way to lock the bridge in place. when I'm bending notes with open strings the open notes go flat. I would like it to be something I can "snap on" and off.

I may be trying to do something not possible with the GR33. I'm layering tracks in Cakewalk's Guitar Studio. However, it appears I can only run one channel at a time. In other words, if I change channels (to lay down another track and patch), the original channel and patch go 'mute'. It's not until I return to the channel set in my GR-33 that the sound comes back on. Is it possible to assign several channels to the GR-33 and layer tracks in a midi software program? Moreover, the software program seems to ignore the patch numbers assigned to the track and accepts whatever patch is set on the GR-33 module. Any assistance appreciated.

Kevin, not all trem springs are the same.
check the wire diameter with your original.
Also more springs with softer adjustment
sometimes work.

I just bought a Laney Pro Tube combo (1x12) today, and I tried I buttload of combinations with the sounds. I tried it straight (through a Tele), then with my Fender Bassman (2x12), then through a TS-9 and a Blues Driver. Everything sounded great. Crank the Laney past 6 or 7 on the preamp and the master volume. The EL-84's sound sweet. A nice compliment to the 6L6's in the Fender amp. Now I'm A/B-ing them together and it's quite a unique, rocking tone.
THAT SAID, I'M EAGER TO HEAR NEW IDEAS, AS WELL AS SPECS ABOUT THIS GOOFBALL AMP. Bought it for $199 today... great deal on a poweful tube amp, BUT I'D LOVE TO HEAR MORE INFO ABOUT IT. HELP A BROTHER OUT.

Guitar Strings & Strat

I have a fender american texas special strat, and when I picked it up, it was wired with 9 gauge strings. Now, I have nothing against them, but I don't particularily like them, I would like to use 13's but as far as I can see the guitar won't take them in standard tuning due to the tension springs on the bridge not being strong enough. Right now I'm using 11's in standard tuning, and I've gone through two sets thus far on this guitar, the first was a set of D'Addario XL115's, which worked absolutley fine, but eventually wore out. I couldn't find them anywhere in the stores, so instead I picked up a package of GHS boomer 11's. The D'Addario's I didn't wind too much, probably 2 turns if that on each string, but the GHS's I put on, I wound quite a few times, up to 5 winds on some of the higher strings, and I'm getting a creaking noise when I bend them excessively. For instance, if I bend the higher strings, (G,B,E) up a step or two, I'll hear a creaking, I'm not quite sure if it's the nut or the saddles on the bridge but it's distracting me and I can feel it slightly in the neck. I've already setup the guitar myself for the first set of 11's with the action I feel best with, bridge height and truss rod adjustment, but for some reason these strings are emitting that noise. I've had them on for a few weeks now and I'm doubting it's the strings themselves stretching. Any ideas?

Could be either the nut slots are to tight, or the
bridge pieces are moving around. Each time I
change string size it takes a little time for the neck
to settle in the new sizes.

this was my first guitar and still my favourite 5 more down the road. it has fantastic pickups, passive EMG type things whith true humbucker at bridge and two sweet stacked single/humbuckers at the neck. the purpose of these is single coil sound with full tone and noise reduction of a humbucker. the neck is a dream to play and the trem is great. my only gripe is that here in the UK it is proving difficult to obtain new springs for the trem. they are a lot heavier than strat, floyd rose, wilkinson, etc, etc.
