I’m getting back into guitar and want to buy a les paul copy that is well-made but not overly expensive, between 250-400. I’ve heard about agile and explored their site. It seems as though they have put some effort into their guitars and I’ve read some good reviews (I assume they aren’t plants) Are they any good or is epiphone the best way to go? Also what about a not too expensive amp 100-200? Am I out of the ballpark on any/all of these demands?

I dont know about the guitar part of it but you may want to look at Behringer amps, depending on what size you want, you can get a good practice amp for the price range you are looking for. Try the online music stores.

private sale you should get between £2,500- $3,000. depending on condition and orginality, having all the original parts is paramount, if you have a repaired headstock then you can probably halve it. white ones tend to be popular too.

yes, he was the brother of Robert Flemming who of course invented the ‘Space rocket’ and later became the first man to play guitar on the moon, robert married his sister ‘Princess Diana’ of Kensington, that was before she was credited with inventing the wheel, of which we are all very gratefull. Knowledge, knowledge knowledge, who said that??

Hondo II ??? its probably worth $50, not very good guitars, if they cost $100 new then $99 would have gone into making them look nice and the other dollar was spent on the strings.

I recently purchased a warmoth vintage strat neck and i was wondering if i could get decals added on to the headstock. I was wondering if they were stickers because im not to crazy about that and was wondering do they make them so that it looks and feels original

theyre waterslide decals – go to http://www.axesrus.com you simply submerge them in water and apply them very carefully. not stickers, there are the official things. to get it looking exaclty like an original, you gradually build up coats of lacquer on the headstock using spray can of lacquer. Ahh the joys of making fake guitars! J

Anyone got a view on whether Thin Lizzy stuff is of interest these days? I’m thinking of moving on a couple of Les Pauls seeing as I don’t play any more – one of which Robbo used as a spare and is in his origninal Thin Lizzy flight case (I used to manage him and bought it off him at the time). While I’m on – can anyone tell me what a second hand les paul fetches these days? – one’s a ’79 deluxe with mini humbuckers in tobacco sunburst, the other a ’90 standard in cherry sunburst…. Be much obliged for any advice.

If you have pictures, I might take some interest. Thin lizzy memorabilia won’t get too much attention from anyone that isn’t a big fan. They don’t get too much publicity. Maybe if Phil lynott wouldn’t have died… LP’s on the otherhand depend on the year they were built. Gibson in notorious for making really bad nice guitars and then the next year making excellent. It depends on the quality control and who is checking/making them in nashville. I own newer LP’s and they are heaven. If you have any pics or more info i might take a peek, make you an offer. Is my problem fixable, and if it is, is it worth getting the string raised or something? can the string actually be raised somehow??? : thanks a load for answering my dumb question. : cheers man!!!!!!!! thanku! You don’t say what kind of Guitar it is, which will affect the way you fix the problem; I’ll assume it’s a solidbody and you’re using light strings. There are a # of things that can affect this: The neck may have a ‘back bow’, which is a convex arch-the string is likely ‘noting out on a fret- If that’s the case the truss rod needs to be relieved. Sight both the bass & treble sides of the neck from the headstock & look for a hump in the neck-Bring the guitar up to pitch-then turn the truss rod nut counterclockwise a bit and see if the neck straightens out. You may have a high fret which will need to be reset. You may have the pickups to close to the strings-the magnets will pull the strings toward them-causing distortion & in extreme cases can cause the string to ‘note out’. If you are not sure -take it to a qualified set up person and spend the $20-25. for a proper set up. Improperly adjusted saddles, too light a string, A back bow in the neck, are likely all involved in this minor problem, and are easily fixed by any decent set up man.

I’ve done some research and believe that it was probably made sometime between 1965 and 1970. Currently it is not playable.(needs some work) But, when it was playable, the sound was beautiful and the action was great! Any ideas on how I can zero in on the instrument’s real I.D. would be greatly appreciated.

Maybe send them a photo and ask them to identify it.

I remember back in the early 80`s in college selling bootleg Zeppelin.I had a 90 min tape and a 60 min for 20 bucks.I made about 200 dollars in one semester.I had “Destroyer“which was “Cleveland 1977“i think.I also had “Melencalay Danish superboys get it on“ which was recorded in Amsterdam or maybe even Copenhagen in 1979 ,It was the first concert of their last tour.I had “live in Japan“ where Bonzo was late for the show and the band played a tune from Zep 3.I also had “Montreal Forum 1975“.It sounded like “The Song“,but poor sound. Can anyone tell me if they can still be found?

I don’t know if I’m being over-ambitious with my meagre Zoom 606, but there’s on effect I’d like to recreate. When Matt Bellamy plays "Bliss" live, he uses an effect to play the piano section. If anyone has any idea how to do this with a Zoom 606, I’d be VERY….excited 🙂

Hi, all. It may be a long shot, but I was wondering if anybody could identify a mystery guitar for me. I was shopping around pawn shops and found an old beat-up electric with some kind of enamel smeared over the headstock (for what purpose I have no idea). The maker is unreadable, and "rock’n roll version" is all I can make out. The body itself is yellow, with a fixed neck. One humbucker and two knobs–volume and tone. Looks like a rosewood fretboard. At first glance I thought it was a Les Paul Junior, but the $50 price tag makes that a virtual impossiblity. However, it is at a virtual junk store, and there is a chance they might not know what they have. The current strings on it have rusted, and it probably hasn’t been played in years. In any case, it’s a pretty guitar and if it isn’t complete junk it may be worth the 50 bucks. Any ideas?

Hi, My father has a Sears and Roebuck Harmony Rocket guitar, he’s not for sure if it is a 63′ or a 64′. It is a hollow body with 2 pick-up electric guitar. He is curious as to how much it is worth. He does not want to sell it, as he is an avid guitar player! He also has a Sears & Roebuck 1964 15 in.sears tower bass amp and is curious of its worth also. Thanks

I was surfing around last week and found a site that showed a guy making piano, organ, string sounds using his electric guitar. Stupid computer locked up and I lost it. I thought that was pretty impressive, anyone know how he was doing that??

Thanks for the assistance, I found the page again. The guy was using a MIDI guitar interface in a Korg TR-rack module. ( http://www.theguitar.net/videos.html ) Took a quick look @ ZZounds and this equipment cost $1300.00, so hence how damn impressive it is…..maybe if I ever completely master guitar I’ll try strings.

maybe you have a steel block in the bar, some people do this to increase the sustain on the guitar, but this also makes the trem bar useless, take off the back plate and have a look.

Well it could be your springs, most guitars with whammy have 3 springs it the back, you could have five, try taking a few out, or you could try and loosen your bridge screws so that the bridge has room to whammy. : when you put in a whammy bar all you do is screw in the bar till it almost can’t screw in any more but still hangs solid without moving freely. then just take a hold of that thing and whammy all night long

Your serial # indicates it was built in 1967-8. They quit building them in 1970. The retail price for a new one in 1969 was $99.99. They were a well built guitar and easy to play. It’s worth a bit more now than it was then. Made in USA!

The neck pickup has a white, black, and yellow wire in it. The yellow is ground, the white is hot, but I need to know where the black wire should be soldered on the 5 way. The Bridge pickup is stock so if this black wire is a split, I’d like it to be in conjunction with the bridge. Anybody have any idea?

I think it is from the late 60’s or early 70’s, I also have a japanese copy from the 60’s of a six string that kind of looks like a cross between a fender and a gibson. If anyone knows anything about these guitars please give me some information. I also have a 60’s era hofner beatle bass. thank you .

I have, what I believe to be a 1968 gibson goldtop deluxe. It plays great, but the finish has begun to possible oxidize where your right forearm rests. This guitar has been played, not in a case for the last 30+ yrs. The original bone keys began to strip, so I replaced them w/ Grover’s. I did, however have to rout the holes a bit. I am curious as to what the approximate market value of this guit may be. I paid $1670.00 in 1999. Thanks for any ideas.

I have an Earth Producer series amp I bought in 1975 new and want to sell it but have no idea of it’s value. The head has 4 inputs, 2 under reverb effects channel, a graphic equalizer, and 2 under a normal channel. It is rated at 700 watts, has 2 15 inch speakers in a seperate cabinet. It looks and works as good as new. It has never been out of my home. No scratches, tears or wear marks. I think it is solid state. If it has any tubes I can’t see them. On the reverb channel it has fuzz, rate, distort, reverb and depth. If anyone can give me a clue as to what this is worth, I would greatly appreciate it.

A Martin D-35 with that serial no. would put it in the late 60s. If it’s a Brazilian rosewood D-35, in decent shape, it’s probably worth somewhere in the $1,500 – $2,500 range. Go to the C.F. Martin Co. website, find a dealer or repair facility near you and let them see it.

: I got rather small hands and I feel in some parts it’s hindering me! Are there any guitars that have thinner necks? Most fender strats/teles have pretty thin necks, and so do their copies (mansfield and such). You can also try ESP, they have pretty thin necks, avoid ones with floyd rose locking system, the necks (to me) seems a bit wider than the rest (then again it might be just Jackson). Ibanez supposedly has super thin necks (RG series) but I’ve never personally tried one. Good luck hunting. rock on \m/

I’ve acquired 2 old guitars and an old Danelectro amp. I can find lots of info on the ’58 Gretsch 6120 but very little on the Framus bass or the amp. I would guess the Framus to be a 60’s model since the Gretsch is a ’58 but I can’t find model or serial numbers to identify it better. It is solid red and I haven’t found one like it.

Would anyone know how I would go about suing a guitar shop? A repair technician for a local shop performed unauthorized modifications to my guitar that permanently altered the brand new instrument. The cost of restoring the instrument to ‘near’ original form is more than the cost of the guitar’s new price.

I have found a little information on this site regarding Lyle Guitars, Mine is a model L-12. The guitar appears to be in very good to excellent condition, with some minor wear on the finish near the pick guard, and sounds fantastic. I have just begun to play guitar and would like to know if this is a good guitar? Is it actually worth anything?

I went ahead and shielded the whole guitar with copper tape and continuity tested the tape to make sure I had a closed cercuit form pick up cavitiy to the eclectronics to the bridge. I also soldered a new wire through out to ground. But it is still humming. I got the instructions from guitarnut. What now?

oxidation happens when sweat gets on to metal plated parts and isnt wiped off, chemical reaction occurs and it ends up getting pitted and powdery, this is all part of the ageing process, i would say clean it up best you can with a polish and then let it grow old gracefully, guitars look great when they are a little battle scarred.

i think the JCM900 has effects loop and twin gain switchable channels, i think they also have reverb, its a more modern beast, it still has the classic marshall sound, and the 800 has fewer features, less knobs more crunch, most of the players i know go for the JCM800, check out these amps on the marshallamps.com website, they discribe each amp on there.

It’s a great color (wine tolex, brown grill), but it has a few dings in the tolex, but sounds really sweet. I’ve got the price fixed at $875. Is this reasonable? The option is perhaps a new F-30 for right at $899. Really appreaciate your advice. Thanks.

I play in our church band and we recently have implemented an Aviom in-ear monitor system. Our goal was to primarily reduce stage sound levels. I am wanting to continue using my tube amp and want to build some type of box to "soundproof" the amp and utilize the Shure SM57. My first attempt was building a box that was 6" wider and longer than the amp and surrounded the inside with 3" Auralex foam leaving no space between the amp and the foam which caused feedback on the mic.

Hey, I just got started a few months ago with an old Yamaha acoustic, and I want to know what a good beginner’s electric guitar would be. I’ve talked to my geometry teacher, who is an expert (he collects and plays, and he has somewhere around 18), and he said that the cheaper Stratocasters would be his choice (the ones in the $250-$350 range). I’ve browsed on a few sites, and for the most part, that’s the choice guitar. I just wanted to kow if anyone had any advice one way or another. Since I’ll probably forget this site, please e-mail. Thanks.

I’m using an old stock yamaha humbucking pickup in another guitar and I’m not sure how to wire it. The pick up has a red, a white, and a ground. I’ve read that these kind of pickups are supposed to have a hot wire, a ground and a coil tap wire. Does anyone know which wire (the white or red) is the hot and which is the tap?

I’ve rearly played other guitars so I don’t know if this is a common thing. The best way to discribe what my problem is if you pluck the open high E string and then touch the string to end the noise it keeps going. I couln’t understand why this was happening untill I touched the lower E string and A string and discovered they were vibrating(I can even hear it when my room is quite). When any high E note is played the resonation from that note travels to the lower E and A string. The noise is faint but more then strong enough for the pickups to play it clearly. The real problem with it is if you play an F note right after an E note the remanent E noise clashed and sounds awful. The lower E and A string will not do this if they are tuned too high or low, only when perfectly tuned. Thats the worst clashing sound, some other notes do it aswell. I’d say the second worst note is high G note, it causes the D string to vibrate. I doubt this is a common problem, I couldn’t find anyone complaining about this on the net and I don’t see this being a minor problem. Does anyone have any idea what this could be. I think I may have a cheap guitar!!

Hmm.It could be a couple of things. 1)if the guitar IS cheap, you as you may suspect, the wood is probably too light. This can make the vibrations last too long. 2)the action maybe too low. This can cause unwanted overtones and harmonics cause the fret is acting like a nut.An uneven fret height can do this. I would take it to a guitar tech for examination.Tell him that you’re getting DOUBLE TONES.A good set up and fret grind could help. Since the problem only occurs when the axe is "perfectly" tuned, odds are its a fret or neck problem. Good Luck

I actually suspected the wood cause it is very light. Looks like I’m just going to have to open up the walet. Thanks I"m so very tired of this problem!!!

it’s worth noting that when a string is plucked it will cause any other string to resonate that is on the same frequency, ie the same tuning, but this will only be a slight resonation, it happens with all stringed instruments.

Yes but when I want the note to end it doesn’t because it’s resonating in another string. I wonder if low output pickups will leave them out.

Someone tell me how to get the strap on! There is one button on the bottom where I could attatch the strap, and the other side has a string on it, what the hell am I suppose to do with the other side of the strap? Thanks

accoustic or electric? the string is meant for accoustic guitars with no ‘button’ on the top of the guitar and you would tie the string around the headstock, i think if you take the string off you will be left with a hole which you then attacth to the second ‘button’.

Hi. I’m Rachelle Kirk, I’m 16 years old and I have a certain antique guitar. My twin sister bought it about 5 months ago, and I don’t know anything about it. I was wondering if you could give me some ideas on what kind of guitar it is and maybe how old it may be. If you need a picture, I would be happy to take one, so just give me an e-mail address and I’ll send a couple pics. Thanks for your time.

I play the six and seven string guitar, I am wanting to know the difference between a bass amp and guitar amp in reguards to the subjects of input Impedance 22kOhms(the bass) and Impedance 3.9MOhms (input impedence on a reg guit amp)Are these the items that are the major differences? How do they effect tone are there other factors to take in to concideration? I don’t need a real in depth definition. I had always heard that "in the day" lots of reg (6 stringers) guitarists used the fender bassman head does anybody know how would affect a regular 6 or seven string guit.?

Andrew pretty much said it.Around the rythym pick up is where the 24th fret would be.These are strong, stable harmonics. By striking the note and scraping the string with your thumb(same time),you can get the "double octave’ harmonic. We used to call this "pinch harmonics".Follow your ears…you’ll find it. Good Luck

        Guest

try choking up on the pick. You need to mute the string with the tip of your thumb almost simultaneously during the picking process. I can get a Pinch alost anywhere between the ends of both pickups but starting out, if you are playing the 1-4 frets then you should be trying them right about the rythym pickup. Move down the body as you move down the neck.

I decided to make a homemade himidifier for my acoustic Guild 12-string. I went and got our travel soapdish from the bathroom, put a sponge that was wet and wrung out inside, put it inside my guitar and closed the case for 8 hours. When I opened the case, I noticed that now the guitar’s interior smells like soap!! Even worse, it smells like IRISH SPRING!! Gone is my lovely smell of maple and spruce that I loved so dearly! What do I do now? Is this a permanent mark on my guitar’s fragrance?? Say it isn’t so!!

Common sense tells us not to do some of these things, maybe we should start a new series, you know like ‘America’s dumbest criminals’, and ‘pets that ATTACK!’ maybe we should should have ‘Guitars that bit back!!’ ‘well Mike it all went wrong when i took the guitar out of the case, the guy down the shop said i should take it to the nearest swamp and throw it in a few times, so i did, and then i took it home and hung it above the fireplace for 5 days to dry off, then i nailed it to a tree and let the local birds nest in it for the spring, and just look at it now!! its ruined!!, i took it back to the shop and the guy says hes never seen neck warping like it, he said it remided him of his fishing pole under full strain from a 200lb marlin.

Hey all, I have a Digitech WH-4 reissue and to be honest am fed up with its unreliability. I only use it for the whammy mode as it is. I’ve been told that a WH-1 is much better, but living in New Zealand, it’s hard to come by anything slightly interesting. I can bring them in but it costs a lot. Does anyone know of a different pedal that does a whammy pitch shift like the Digitech one? Cheers, Karlos

Hi, i am currently using a Gibson SG Srtandard through a marshall AVT275 and often use a BOSS PW-10 V-WAH pedal. When i turn the gain knob on the amp up to about 6 or and crank up the gain on the pedal i get so much feedback and thye pickups pick up even the slightest movement. The AVT275 has 4 channels, Acoustic simulator, Clean and OD1/OD2. Which channel should i play through and how could i get the metal sounf i want without so much feedback?

Hmm. Overdrive is volume. The pedal has a volume. The Guitar has a volume and the amp has volume plus overdrive….That’s too much volume! In live situations,it’s best to keep the Dist./OD level about 9 o’clock.Amp on 6 o’clock. In your case,I would put the OD pedal on 7 or 8 o’clock and use it ONLY as a booster. LET THE AMP DO MOST OF THE WORK Set the amp’s dist. to match your CLEAN volume setting. This is for "crunch rythym" sound. Then, kick in the pedal for Lead(solo) sounds. Thats a basic setup for live stuff. Question…if you have an OD1 and OD2 channel…why do you need a pedal?? Hope this helps

      • #98693
        Anonymous
        Guest

i think you are overcooking your gain, i would only use 1 gain control, that one on the amp, bypass the wah and see if you can get the sound you want by using your OD channels, if you want a metal sound and cant find it on your amp then i suggest you get yourself a Boss MT-2 pedal, when using the pedal use the clean channel, obviously keeping the volume down and taking off some treble will help with the feedback problem too.

Lee you know better than that, im no gibson master like you, i think what most any guitar ive had come into my personal shop (aka bedroom) that has had a feedback issue such as one gibson flying v, it was bad pickups or humbuckers, though i do have a paraffin waxer its not pressurized therefore it doesnt do much justice, and no its not a cosmetic either. i was just suggesting the idea of the pickups bein bad. And i only have infinite wisdom towards floyds, just not the best infinite, take luck! You could: – Move away from the amp. – Turn down the volume on the amp. – Roll off some treble on the amp. – Turn down the volume on the guitar. – Roll off some treble on the guitar. – Wear a space helmet, put the reverb on full and be one with the feedback. – Sell off all that 21st century Marshall valvestate crap on E-bay and whip out an acoustic. Seriously – for your metal sounds you should be playing the OD1/OD2 channels. Just screw with the volume and EQ (presence too) on the amp coupled with volume and tone settings on your gitbox until you find the magic zone. Remember- you may have to sacrifice overall sound quality to get rid of your screechies at "metal" volumes.

:well first off, you can go two ways, first you could just learn tabs and play off that. Or you could learn actual chords and musical theory. I suggest the latter of the two. But if you want to learn how to read tabs, it is not that hard. 1. Read left to right ex- read the tabs like you read a book 2. You can’t usually get the rythem of a song from tablature, you have to listen to the song and then play to the song 3. Ex of tabs e(top string, nearest to you)——————— a———————————————— d———————————————— g———————————————— b———————————————— e-very bottom(thinnest)—————————- Just play what you see in the order it comes Good tabs sites–Tabworld.com/tabworld.com

use a household spray polish, the kind you polish your table tops with, in UK we have a wax free polish which doesnt smear. you can also buy dedicated guitar cleaning polishes which are very good, fender do an excellent one in co-op with mcguire.

My Nighthawk is very noisey. I opened up the back and found out that there is no shielding in the cavity I also tested to see if the grousnd wire was really attatched to the bridge and it was. Meaning i do have a dead short as it should be whaen guits are groundedd properly. still 60 cycle hum is heard on every pick selection. What should I do.

I went ahead and shielded the whole guitar with copper tape and continuity tested the tape to make sure I had a closed cercuit form pick up cavitiy to the eclectronics to the bridge. I also soldered a new wire through out to ground. But it is still buzzing. I got the instructions from guitarnut. What now?

The answer this time is not WD music. You have to make your own using a 3 ply pickguard or similar material. It can be custom engraved at a trophy shop.

i think you need a Boss LS-2 use it as an A-B box, you have your guitar going in and 2 leads coming out one going to each of the different channel inputs on your amp. there are lots of ways to do it, i think each output on the pedal also has its own level so you can boost the signal too. check it out on the boss website.

why bother with mini ones? you can get hondo ll and colombus guitars for a lot less than $10 each, and you will be doing the world a great favour by taking them ‘out of service’ , just think people, a world of ebay with no ‘Hondo 2, NO RESERVE !! starting bid $1 ‘ headers. Maybe i could start a society, the CHDS (Colombus and Hondo Destruction Society) and we could buy them all up and have a Grand Bashup Day where we all gather with our years worth of bought up guitars and see who can come up with the most unique way of disposing of them, hendrix lighter fluid, attach them to rocket fuel cells and lauch them into stationary orbit, we could get a very strong man to stand behind a bush and throw them into the air whilst our members shoot them down with pump action shot guns, fire throwers and sam missiles. ummm i think i need to go and lie down…

Allo… New here. I’m looking to buy an electric guitar, I’m an ultra newb with playing, only really gotten into it on a mates $45 classical guitar he sold me 12 months ago. I’ve subseqently realised a classical does NOT play the kind of music I’m after, and that an electric is more the way to go. With a VERY tight pocket, I want something that’ll keep me entertained by sounding alright, nothing for stage, just personal use, and doesn’t look to screwed up either. Dunno whether I want single coils, humbucklers… I want 6 strings…. Ideas on what to avoid at all costs / cheap recomendations? I don’t know much about guitars, and can only just play, but am progressing pretty quick. Thanks in advance. -Baggins

Have you looked at the epiphone range? they are very good for the money, and when you want to sell up and move on or upgrade they are easy to sell on. before you buy take a look at harmony central web site, they have some good reveiws on guitars on their, avoid colombus, hondo and hondo ll, fender chinese squiers arent that good quality wise, also the indian ones are poor, generaly speaking the entire epiphone range is of good quality, Yamaha pacifica’s are good, as are tokai, before you buy post your selection on here and see what replies you get.

I have an old Toledo Delux that’s been passed around through my family for the last 20 or so years. It’s a sweet little guitar with a great sound, but i can’t find much about them. I’ve heard it was made by Aria (in Japan) in the late 60’s. Aria didn’t use SN# until the mid 70’s so I’m at a dead end. If anyone has a Toldeo or knows anything about them let me know.

A superb insrument! The Kalamazoo reputaion probably speaks well for the guitar. either it was a spinoff of Gibson, not unlike Epiphone, or it was a group of luthiers that started their own business. either way, they were a decent instrument for a very low cost. maybe someone can dig up a bit of history on these.

Apart from shelling out £££££ on expensive mics is there a signal transformer that will convert the cabinet output on my amp head into a low power recording signal?? From an amature home studio point of veiw there is something quite reasuring about having your amp plugged straight into the 12-track when recording

Hi Jay, i saw your earlier post on the forum, about the Ashdown fallen angel 60 watt combo, this is a very good question, i dont know of anything that will substantialy reduce the output signal to line out level. I was thinking maybe you could use the effects return signal on that amp, but i think it would be a dry signal from the guitar before its pre-amp stage, and you would still have to play the aamp at normal volume, i would look closely into this before attempting any DIY solutions because as im sure you are aware you can cause a lot of harm to your amp if you dont attached a speaker/s to your amp of the correct impedence whilst it is switched on. with a valve amp you could kiss goodbye to your output transformer, which would be a costly item to replace. The only solution i can think of is use a power brake / hotplate attenuator and mike it up. or maybe buy an amp with DI output. Good luck.

Thanks for the help. I had alook at the Power Brake and Hotplate. I also discovered some products made by Palmer they call DI boxes they have one called the The Junction which gives you a DI-out but you still have to have the speakers running through it otherwise you damage the amp, I was after something that cut out the speakers, but if I put a Power Brake/Hotplate between it and the speakers this should do the job.

I baught an Ibanez SZ320MH with a veiw to upgrading the things they miss out on lower priced guitars guitars like the pickups and the finish. the guitar is pretty much bare wood finnish. Can any one see any reason as to why I shouldnt french pollish it with shellac as I know french pollishing?

        Guest

If you play out at all be very careful with alcoholic beverages as it will wreak havoc with a French Pollish finish.

        Guest

No reason not to…It is an Ibanez after all. You’ll have to make sure that you completely remove the existing finnish first – as shellac or laquer doesn’t play well with todays poly finnishes. It may look like bare wood, but Ibanez has most certainly treated it with something (satin polyester?). It will be a lot of work but could actually enhance the tone by getting rid of the sound robbing plastic finnish. It’s your guitar – have fun with it…
