I’ve done alot of custom gutar wiring. Usually I’m just adding a new pickup or replacing a pot or switch. Anyway, I go around pawn shops and pick up "junk guitars," where the electronics are messed up but the body is still nice and solid, something worth fixing that is. I try to make each of those guitars unique, say an extra three-way toggle switch to switch between 3 capacitors when playing with the tone knobs. What I’m asking is if any of you out there know anything about wiring switches up for in phase or out of phase polarities with two or more pickups, while still being able to get a decent ammount of output. I want anything, any information. I’ve already made several wiring diagrams to accomplish what I wanted, but there’s just too many switches (at least 2 for every pickup). And if you people know where I can get a 4-pole 3-way toggle switch please let me know. thank you

: What do you guys think about this amp? Likes and dislikes? Thanx A friend of mine had one sounded great had alot of balls like a bassman or a hiwatt. They are all tube cheap and sound cool. the only problem is they offten break down as they are cheaply made.

Uses 6L6 and 12AX7 tubes and has solid state rectifier, circuit is a basically a replica of a vintage Fender Bassman, I think they are decent sounding and a hold up well. I have modified a few of them and the simple design make them great to ‘experiment’ with. : What do you guys think about this amp? Likes and dislikes? Thanx

I bought a swamp ash Strat style guitar body and started the staining and sealing process. I used a "MiniWax" Cherry color stain. I’ve been spraying a MiniWax oil base Gloss PolyUrethane finish. Will this deaden the sound of the Swamp Ash Wood or is this exceptable. Also, on the last coat of gloss, what grit do I use to buff it to a smooth finish?

Please explain simply what does Effects A & B mean on the back of the combo? 1. Do I put a short lead from send to return, and press the button. Then what do i do? I`m confused as I have since bought a Boss ME50 going directly into the front input, but when on, it completely ruins all my clean sounds on clean channel, and gives too much hiss. Please explain how I go from a clean Stevie Ray Vaughan sound on the Clean Channel to using the Lead/Crunch channels properly. I really dont think I`m getting the best out of this great amp. kelvin. : http://www.shortnacy.com/tim/GPA/ : until then, : -tim

Depends how bad the body is, in ex condition they go for about $1200. If it still sounds great and you like playing it, I would keep it, just make sure the body is structurally sound, it dosen’t have to look good to sound good. If you are gonna get rid of it let me know, I personally like em and would be interested. : ive got a 1963 gibson es330tdc,sounds great, but needs some body work. is this worth repairing, or is there some thing else that might be better, for jazz, rock, etc. ps. i’m an atty now, but used to play for a band pre- iggy…

I just bought a Sqire Affinity strat and a peavey blazer amp. I know single coil pick ups are notorious for their noise. I don’t play at loud volumes and the hum noise is quite loud when I am not touching the strings. My question is … are there any ways to reduce to hum (without buying the new noiseless pickups. They cost more than I paid for the guitar) Thank you Charlie

There aren’t any sites that are automated like you describe, not even http://www.ibanez.com. http://www.Ibanezcollectors.com com has a discussion board. Once you sign up you can ask for information. The focus of the site is on older Ibanez guitars, from the 60s thru early 90s. http://www.jemsite.com is more geared toward the later guitars, like the Jem, RG, and S series.

Can someone recommend a book, tape or video that deals with modes? I want to know how to use them in a blues rock metal context. Are there other blues notes other than in the blues scale? Is the guitar grimoire any good?
-
February 22, 2002 at 9:25 pm #91439AnonymousGuest
I would just recommend a good reference book to start that lists all the scales and modes (at least the 7 most common), then learn them, caged, 3 notes per, horizontal, etc until you don’t even have to think (much) about playing them, then you have to learn to ‘play’ them, and I have found the best way is to jam/learn with a really good player/teacher, and for practice spend some time each day on technique, and then some time playing with friends, along with music you want to learn, learning leads you like (ie just having fun). BTW any note is a blues note, it’s all context… after you learn to play ‘in the box’ you will naturally progress to playing outta the box. : Can someone recommend a book, tape or video that deals with modes? I want to know how to use them in a blues rock metal context. Are there other blues notes other than in the blues scale? Is the guitar grimoire any good?

To tell you the truth, if you want to get the best guitar, you gotta go out there and try them. See which one you like the best, which is the right size, the right cut, which one sounds the best to you. It all depends on your taste, so dont waste time asking people, get out there and play some guitars! =)

Hey Kyle, are you just starting out on guitar? If so, my personal preference is that beginners start out on acoustic. It’ll tuffin your fingers more and you don’t have to worry much about eq setting or anything. If you’re a beginner some brands you should look at are Ibanez, Fender, Takamine, epiphone, and if your budge lets you: the 110 Taylor or Martin x series. Brand is not important. It is what kind of sound you are looking for and how a guitar personally feels to you. Taylors and Martins are expensive guitars but they are both different in tone. Martins have thick bass and Taylors and bright Trebles. you are going to have to go to your local guitar store and try themout yourself to see which tone you’d like. for guitars under 200 dollars I’d reccomend you try some epiphones and yamahas. If you would like to spend 500 check out the 110 taylor and martins x series.

PLEASE SOMEONE E-MAIL ME TO [email protected]. HMM—YOU WANT A GOOD GUITAR, BUT ARE ONLY WILLING TO SPEND $200. IF YOUR TALKIN’ ELECTRIC, YOUR GONNA HAVE TO SPRING FOR SOME TYPE OF APLIFICATION–IF YOUR TALKIN, ACOUSTIC—WELL IT JUST AINT GONNA HAPPEN. SAVE YOUR MONEY A LITTLE LONGER–SAY $500 OR $600 BALLPARK. THEN YOU CAN AT LEAST SHOP FOR A PREOWNED GUITAR OF GOOD QUALITY. JAM ON, DUDE!

do you practise on a regular basis? what kind of guitar/ amp do you have and what music do you play? for amps, check out Harmony central, or the notices on this board, also sites such as peavey.com … Have you ever had lessons? maybe you could take a few to remind yourself of the basics? Guitar strap is easy, just choose a good quality one and your guitar should have two little button things you can attatch it with.

Are you looking to sell it? My G-40 might be worth $600, the cost of the original. If that holds, the G-10 would be in the neighborhood of $200. That’s a guess. If you want to sell it, let me know. Has this just happened recently? How long since the amp was turned on? Was anything plugged into the amp? If so, was the inst. volume up or down? Was the amp volume turned up or down? We need more info to help with a diagnosis. Does it still squeal with everything unplugged, the amp on, and the amp volume down?

I bought the first one in may 2002 and the second one two months later. Ther second one I purchased was traded in in less than a month at Guitar Center. Since then these amps have been repaired in the shop by authorized repairmen a total of eight time with only one repair not concerning the preamp power supply. (email if you wnat the complete story) the Marshall Rep is of no help and I am still dealing with this problem for the ninth time. I have experienced one exchange and eight repairs in ten months. MAKE QUICK EASY MONEY!!! Turn $6.00 into $42,000, WITH HARDLY ANY WORK…. read this to find out how!!!! READING THIS COULD CHANGE YOUR LIFE!!!! I found this on a bulletin board and decided to try it. A little while back, I was browsing through newsgroups, just like you are now, and came across an article similar to this that said you could make thousands of cash within weeks with only an initial investment of $6.00!! So I thought, "Yeah right, this must be a scam", but like most of us, I was curious, so I kept reading. Before you get skeptical, just take a few minutes to finish reading this. WITH THIS PLAN, YOU REALLY CAN MAKE TONS OF TOTALLY LEGAL, FAST AND EASY CASH MONEY!! IT WORKS!!! BUT YOU HAVE TO FOLLOW IT CAREFULLY FOR IT TO WORK CORRECTLY AND IN YOUR FAVOR!!!! WITH ALL THE MONEY YOU ARE GONNA MAKE, YOU WILL SOON GET EVERTHING YOU’VE ALWAYS DREAMED OF!!!! Here’s how it works. All you do is send $1.00 to each of the 6 names and address stated in the article. You then place your own name and address in the bottom of the list at #6, and post the article in at least 200 newsgroups. (There are thousands.) No catch – that was it. So after thinking it over, and talking to a few people first, I thought about trying it. I figured, what have I got to lose except 6 stamps and $6.00, right? Like most of us I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal! Then I invested the measly $6.00. Well, GUESS WHAT!!… Within 7 days, I started getting money in the mail! I was shocked! I figured it would end soon, but the money just kept coming in. In my first week, I made about $25.00. By the end of the second week I had made a total of over $1,000! In the third week I had over $10,000 and it’s still growing. This is now my fourth week and I have made a total of just over $42,000.00, and it’s still coming in rapidly. It’s certainly worth $6.00, and 6 stamps. By the way, I have spent more than that on the lottery in the last month!! Let me tell you how this works and most importantly, why it works….also, make sure you print a copy of this article NOW, so you can get the information off of it as you need it. STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of paper, "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST." Also, be sure to include your name and address. Now, get 6 U.S. $1.00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope, to prevent thievery. Next, place one paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal them. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the above phrase, your name and address, and a $1.00 bill. What you are doing is creating a service by this. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! Mail the 6 envelopes to the following addresses: #1) Liz Allred 3307 E. 3600 N. Kimberly, ID 83341 #2) Alex Molloy 105 Diapian Bay Alameda, CA 94502 #3) CINDY MCCLANAHAN 7656 SOMERSET LN. MANASSAS, VA. 20111 #4) Justin Carney 2802 Noble Fir Ct. Woodbridge, VA 22192 #5) Anthony Pappion Sutherland Hall 811E-2 3725 Sutherland Dr. Pittsburgh, PA 15213 #6) Luke Commins 1032 Oneonta Avenue Imperial Beach, CA 91932 STEP 2: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc…) and add YOUR Name as number 6 on the list. STEP 3: Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. If you do not live in the U.S. or there is a foreign address, you must put an international stamp on your envelopes. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 24,000 groups in all.) All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make! —–DIRECTIONS FOR HOW TO POST TO ON NEWSGROUP BULLETINS—– STEP 1: You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put your cursor at the beginning of this letter and drag your cursor to the bottom of this letter. Then select ‘copy’ from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the computers temporary memory. STEP 2: Open a blank ‘notepad’ or word processor file and place your cursor at the top of the blank page. From the ‘edit’ menu select ‘paste’. This will paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name to the list. STEP 3: Save your new notepad file as a *.txt file. If you want to do your postings in different sittings, you’ll always have this file to go back to. STEP 4: Use your internet provider and search engines to find various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions). STEP 6: Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, and this will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group. Then click the post message button. You’re done with your first one! Congratulations…THAT’S IT! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away. After you get the hang of it, it will only take about 30 seconds for each posting!! **REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!!—BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200** That’s it! You will begin receiving money from around the world within days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O. Box due to the large amount of mail you will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as the postal service will deliver it. **JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT** —-Now the WHY part—- Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example). So then I made $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #5, and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00. Then those 25 each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4, and only 5 replies to each, and I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, and I will make an additional $625.00! OK, now here is she fun part. Each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters with my name at #2, and they each only receive 5 replies that just made me $3,125!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1, and if still 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react, I will receive an amazing $15,625,00! With an original investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. Then start posting again. That’s it! Do you realize that thousands of honest people just like you all over the world are joining the internet and reading these articles everyday? So can you afford $6.00 and see if it really works?? I think so… People have said, "what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest users who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday? So, are you willing to give it a try? Estimates are about 20,000 to 50,000 new-bulletin board users every day, with thousands of those joining the internet itself. Remember, please play FAIRLY! This ensures a huge circle of wealth that grows with the internet audience!!! Everyone benefits!!! Remember to send the six envelopes to the above addresses, in order to create the legal service. At first I was too scared to try this, but once I researched it, I found that it is totally legal. When you send the six envelopes out, you create a service – a legal service. The Internet audience is expanding all the time. The audience is like an equity stock on the stock market, continuously going up. If you still think this is a fraud, take a few minutes to check it out; then you’ll start raking in the cash!!!!!!

You will now become part of the Mail Order business. In this business your product is not solid and tangible, it’s a service. You are in the business of developing Mailing Lists. Many large corporations are happy to pay big bucks for quality lists. However, the money made from the mailing lists is secondary to the income which is made from people like you and me asking to be included in that list. ========================================== –>HERE ARE 4 EASY STEPS TO GET STARTED<– STEP 1: Get 6 separate pieces of paper and write the following on each piece of paper "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST." Now get 6 US $1.00 bills and place ONE inside EACH of the 6 pieces of paper so the bill will not be seen through the envelope ( Please make sure that the bill wouldn’t be noticed in the envelope to prevent thievery). Send out US $ DOLLAR, so it would be more acceptable. STEP 2: Next, place one paper in each of the 6 envelopes and seal them properly. You should now have 6 sealed envelopes, each with a piece of paper stating the phrase, "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST.", your name and address, and a $1.00 bill. What you are doing is creating a service. THIS IS ABSOLUTELY LEGAL! You are requesting for a legitimate service and you are paying for it! Like most of us, I was a little skeptical and a little worried about the legal aspects of it all. So I checked it out with the U.S. Post Office (1-800-725-2161) and they confirmed that it is indeed legal! Mail the US$6.00 to the following addresses: 1)James Small 4690 Sierra St Riverside CA 92504 2) Brandon Corbin 307N Church St Lancaster PA 17603 3) Lierin Quinn P.O. Box 242 Bausman PA 17504 4) L Middlebrook P.O. Box 2079 Beaverton Ontario Canada L0K 1A0 5) Phyllis M Whiddon 256, JD Road DeRidder LA 70634 6) D Goldring 1368 Kenton Road Parkville Maryland 21234 STEP 3: Now take the #1 name off the list that you see above, move the other names up (6 becomes 5, 5 becomes 4, etc…) and add YOUR Name as number 6 on the list. STEP 4: Copy this article. Change anything you need to, but try to keep this article as close to original as possible. Now, post your amended article to at least 200 newsgroups. (I think there are close to 2.4million groups) All you need is 200, but remember, the more you post, the more money you make! This is perfectly legal! If you have any doubts, refer to Title 18, Section 1302 and 1341, US Postal and Lottery Laws or Title 18, Section 3005 in the US code, also in the code of Federal regulations, Volume 16, Sections 255 and 436, which states; "a product or service must be exchanged for money received." The simple note in the letter, "PLEASE PUT ME ON YOUR MAILING LIST", makes it legal because you are paying for exchange of a service, (adding the purchasers name to his mailing list) for a $1.00 fee. IMPORTANT: Keep a copy of these steps for yourself and, whenever you need money, you can use it again, and again. PLEASE REMEMBER that this program remains successful because of the honesty and integrity of the participants and by their carefully adhering to the directions. Look at it this way. If you are of integrity, the program will continue and the money that so many others have received will come your way. NOTE: You may want to retain every name and address sent to you, either on a computer or hard copy and keep the notes people send you. This VERIFIES that you are truly providing a service. (Also, it might be a good idea to wrap the $1 bill in dark paper to reduce the risk of mail theft.) So, as each post is downloaded and the directions carefully followed, six members will be reimbursed for their participation as a List Developer with one dollar each. Your name will move up the list geometrically so that when your name reaches the #1 position you will be receiving thousands of dollars in CASH!!! What an opportunity for only $6.00 ($1.00 for each of the first six people listed above) Send it now, add your own name to the list and you’re in business! =============================================== –>DIRECTIONS FOR HOW TO POST TO NEWSGROUPS<– Step 1) You do not need to re-type this entire letter to do your own posting. Simply put your mouse cursor at the beginning of this letter, click and drag your cursor to the bottom of this document, right click and select ‘copy’ from the edit menu. This will copy the entire letter into the computer’s memory. Step 2) Open a blank ‘notepad’ file and place your mouse cursor at the top of the blank page. Right click and from the ‘edit’ menu select ‘paste’. This will paste a copy of the letter into notepad so that you can add your name and postal address to the list. Step 3) Save your new notepad file as a .txt file. If you want to do your postings in different settings, you’ll always have this file to go back to. Step 4) Use Netscape or Internet explorer and try searching for various newsgroups (on-line forums, message boards, chat sites, discussions.) Step 5) Visit these message boards and post this article as a new message by highlighting the text of this letter and selecting paste from the edit menu. Fill in the Subject, this will be the header that everyone sees as they scroll through the list of postings in a particular group, click the "post" message button. You’re done with your first one! Congratulations…THAT’S IT! All you have to do is jump to different newsgroups and post away, after you get the hang of it, it will take about a minute for each newsgroup! **REMEMBER, THE MORE NEWSGROUPS YOU POST IN, THE MORE MONEY YOU WILL MAKE!! BUT YOU HAVE TO POST A MINIMUM OF 200** That’s it! You will begin receiving money from around the world within days! You may eventually want to rent a P.O.Box due to the large amount of mail you will receive. If you wish to stay anonymous, you can invent a name to use, as long as the postman will deliver it. **JUST MAKE SURE ALL THE ADDRESSES ARE CORRECT.** ======================================= *Now the WHY part; Out of 200 postings, say I receive only 5 replies (a very low example). So then I made $5.00 with my name at #6 on the letter. Now, each of the 5 persons who just sent me $1.00 make the MINIMUM 200 postings, each with my name at #5 and only 5 persons respond to each of the original 5, that is another $25.00 for me, now those 25 each make 200 MINIMUM posts with my name at #4 and only 5 replies each, I will bring in an additional $125.00! Now, those 125 persons turn around and post the MINIMUM 200 with my name at #3 and only receive 5 replies each, I will make an additional $626.00! OK, now here is the fun part, each of those 625 persons post a MINIMUM 200 letters with my name at #2 and they each only receive 5 replies, that just made me $3,125.00!!! Those 3,125 persons will all deliver this message to 200 newsgroups with my name at #1 and if still ONLY 5 persons per 200 newsgroups react I will receive $15,625,00! With an original investment of only $6.00! AMAZING! When your name is no longer on the list, you just take the latest posting in the newsgroups, and send out another $6.00 to names on the list, putting your name at number 6 again. And start posting again. The thing to remember is: do you realize that thousands of people all over the world are joining the internet and reading these articles everyday?, JUST LIKE YOU are now!! So, can you afford $6.00 and see if it really works?? I think so… People have said, "what if the plan is played out and no one sends you the money? So what! What are the chances of that happening when there are tons of new honest users and new honest people who are joining the internet and newsgroups everyday and are willing to give it a try? Estimates are at 20,000 to 50,000 new users, every day, with thousands of those joining the actual internet!!! REMEMBER, PLAY FAIRLY AND HONESTLY AND THIS WILL WORK FOR YOU!!! GOOD LUCK to all and please play fairly and reap the huge rewards from this, which is tons of extra CASH. By the way, please DON’T try to deceive people by posting the messages with your name in the list and not sending the CASH to the rest of the people already on the list, you will NOT get any. This is the fairest and most honest way I have ever seen to share the wealth of the world without costing anything but our time!!! You also may want to buy mailing and e-mail lists for future cash. Make sure you print this article out RIGHT NOW! Also, try to keep a list of everyone that sends you CASH and always keep an eye on the newsgroups to make sure everyone is playing fairly. Remember, HONESTY IS THE BEST POLICY. IMPORTANT: If you’re not interested to my article, (don’t want instant cash?), please pass this message to anyone who wishes quick money. Thank you so much. ======================================= Responses: Re: Make Money Fast and Easy$$$ Alex 12:14:28 7/01/103 (0) Re: Make Money Fast and Easy$$$ clodhopper 15:14:49 6/03/103 (1) CHECK THIS OUT HERE 20:42:07 7/05/103 (0) Post A New Response: Name: E-Mail: Subject: Message: Link URL: Link Title: Image URL: Current Message Board | Help Responses: HEY MAKE MONEY HERE! Hi. Please reply to my hotmail. Who out there has the ability to fret strings 2,3 and 4, with finger 3, while finger 1 frets all, 2 frets prior to finger 3? IE d major 5th fret, E 7th fret, without muting string 1??? Do I have to break my finger at the joint and have it re set? Pros tell me, it doesn’t matter, well I think it does and want string 1 sounding. Help. Thanks.

2 more ideas I’d forgotten about: You might be able to play the 3-string barre with the finger tips of the middle and ring fingers. 1 finger plays 2 strings and the other plays the single. This depends on how wide your finger tips are. Idea 2: Lower string action and wide neck guitars. I play the widest necks I can find, just shy of a 2" classical. That’s just too wide even for me. Hmmmm, I never thought of breaking my finger and having it reset. Might work, dunno, talk to your doctor first. That seems to be a common problem. It depends on the length of the last 2 pieces of bone in your ring finger as to whether or not it’s a problem, and also on how far backward you can bend the last finger joint. I use my pinky finger for the 3-string barre on the "A forms." It took a long time for me to adapt, but after many years of playing, I can hardly imagine doing it any other way. Hope this helps. I have an ovation adamas and for a low-mid priced guitar think it sounds great, and I also like the ‘feel’ of a mid bowel sitting or standing… I don’t find it uncomfortable or hard to hold at all. But that is just my opinion… your best bet is to go and play as many as you can and buy the one that feels/sounds the best (or the best you can afford) to you. : I am interested in learning to play the guitar and was wondering what brand to invest in. Would like feedback from the pros who would know how to best get rollin on this new and exciting adventure. HEY, I WOULD STAY AWAY FROM OVATIONS. THE ROUND BACK MAKES THEM VERY HARD TO HOLD ON TO IN SITTING POSITION. THEY ARE HALF PLASTIC, AND THE TONE SUCKS(SUBJECTIVE). CHECK OUT THE NEW CORTS. THEY JUST PUT OUT A NICE LITTLE PARLOR SIZE ACOUSTIC THAT SOUNDS GREAT, PLAYS WELL, AND IS VERY PLEASING TO YHE EYE.—I THINK THEY LIST FOR AROUND $400, SO THAT MEANS YOU CAN BUY IT A LOT CHEAPER AT YOUR LOCAL CORT DEALER. I’M REAL CLOSE TO BUYING ONE MYSELF—HAVE FUN ON YOUR MUSICAL JOURNEY.

I HAVE A HANDMADE, MAPLE, ARTIST, SOLID BODY GUITAR. I WONDER HOW CAN I GET ARCHTOP JAZZ GUITAR TONE FROM AN ARTIST SOLID BODY? BY USING WHICH PICKUP FOR THE NECK?? (EMG-91 ?, SEYMOUR DUNCAN ?, OR WHAT???)
-
February 17, 2002 at 9:10 pm #91145AnonymousGuest
Some of the DiMarzio pickups can give a deadly jazz tone. I have only Duncan models on my guitar, so I can’t give you a specific model name. I f you want a further jazz tone, try this. Neck pickup, tone knob all the way down. On your amp, screw around with your equalization knobs so you have no treble or mids. Hope I helped

try a seymour duncan "holdsworth" if you can find one (i dont think they make them anymore)i have one and it is superb. it has 2 sets of screws and picks up the signal on both coils of the humbucker giving a fat warm tone. good luck

Okay after you stop laughing at me… I bought my son a Takamine guitar and a guitar strap for it, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to put it on. It is a gift and wanted it all together for his birthday. Thanks for any help…. PS… You can start laughing again.

February 18, 2002 at 9:10 pm #91260AnonymousGuest
Normally there are 2 studs on the guitar… one behind the bridge and one near the neck, and the ‘holes’ on the strap just go over them… the only other thing I can think of is that the guitar has ‘locking’ strap hardware on it and you don’t have the other ends and that is why you cant use a regular strap… if that is so just bring it to a shop and have them replaced, or get mating strap/locks. : Okay after you stop laughing at me… I bought my son a Takamine guitar and a guitar strap for it, but for the life of me I can’t figure out how to put it on. Well the re-issue ones are currently around £1000 so providing its in good condition i’d say around £1000. I’ve seen second hand ones around for about £700 but there not original there later re-isssues also you’ve got the case so yeh I’d say about £1000

I bought a Hofner Violin in 1974 for £50. The previous owner said he’d had it for some time, but as a 14 year old Macca maniac I wasn’t too bothered about its history and was just chuffed to own one! It has a serial number on the back of the headstock of 641. Any value guestimates – it’s in good nick and still used on stage.

Hi It depends very much on if it is actually from 1962 or slightly later. In general Hofner basses from 1962 and earlier are much more difficult to get, and thereby more valuable, than the later ones(1963 and onwards). If you send a detailed describtion of the bass, preferably with pics., I’ll revert back to you.

I think it’s pretty decent, but prefer my flextone(pod)… the one I tried was w/marshall head/stack. and even though I thought it was ‘decent’, I have the marshall for it’s ‘sound’, so would never use it with that setup. I prefer their modeling amps, like having everything in one package for messing around and they are great for recording. : Is there anybody that can tell me if this produkt of line6 the guitarport is any good.

I have a Line6 Flextone II (100 watt with 2-12" Eminence speakers). These amps kick ass! This little amp can crank some sound and offers the flexibility of modeling, and is especially useful using the matching Line6 Floorboard. I also have two Marshall amps, ones a Valuestate VS265 and the other is JCM600 head with a Vintage Marshall cabinet, and the Flextone can product the warmth and grind of a Marshall. You will need to spend some serious time playing around with the controls to really learn what the Flextone can do for you.

Yeah, I like my flextone too, especially for recording, and really like the midi control and pod/patchs… makes life much easier, but for gigs I still prefer marshalls and the ole blackcat. : I have a Line6 Flextone II (100 watt with 2-12" Eminence speakers). Hi there. I wan to modify my cabinet, divide it up in 2 x 4×10", so that I can use 2 amp on the same cabinet. Is anyone familiar with the Ampeg 8×10" cabinet, and how to open up such thing?

I’ve had a couple of 8×10 cabinets. Two or three SVTs and even a Marshall 8×10. With the SVTs there is no way to "open it up". You basically have to get at it from the front. That is, pull off the grill and get to the insides of the cabinet through the speaker holes. I bought an SVT that had three blown speakers and modified one half of it with one 15" speaker. That gave me a lot more bottom end with the highs that the 10”s offered. It was in crappy shape otherwise I would have left it alone. For you to swap over 4 of the 8 speakers, take the grill off, and simply disconnect the bottom or top four speakers so that you can rewire them with a second jack. Personally, I’d leave it alone and buy another cabinet. The SVT is worth more if it is in it’s normal configuration and not modified. Good luck. DALE

I actually took a circular saw and cut one in half about twenty years ago, I had to reseal one of the chambers, it was a pain in the ass, and was not worth the trouble, and never looked right, the two halfs were slightly different sizes because of the chambers. Ampeg makes 4 X 10 cabs now, other wise get another 8 X 10, be a man! haha. When you split them you also get two 8 ohm cabs instead of one 4 ohm cab, and one 8 X 10 sounds better than two 4 X 10’s IMHO, I’ve used them for almost thirty years and wouldn’t switch to anything else for big cabs. I use small ampeg cabs for small rooms with an SVT head (old tube one)

Hey, I’m supposed to play a song for my grandparents’ 50th anniversary party. Anyone have any suggestions for what I should play? I sing and play guitar — mostly chords and simple picking, although I probably have time to learn a more difficult pattern.

I have a set of guitars that my dad bought in germany while on tour in 1954. One is a solid body bass with two pickups spaced apart with the "diamond" logo, reinforced neck, and a bright red paint job. The six string is covered with red vinyle with a white bead around the edge.It has three pickups with the same diamond logo and the neck is not reinforced. It also has the tremelo bar. Anyone that can give me information about the model numers (they are not marked, nor are the pots),and the availability of replacement switches, and what the value might be, i would apreciate it. I play the bass daily, but the six string needs work thanx, russ

: I want to pant my bass surf green, how do I paint it, ans what kind of paint should i use….anything special? If your bass has even the slightest chance of being a desireable vintage instrument someday, leave it alone! The original finish, even if it’s beat up, will always be more valuable on a vintage guitar that any refinish no matter how well it’s done or by whom.

: I’ve been looking at this guitar in the German Music Store Cat. It looks great, has great hardware and can be purchased for 999 euro or approx. 1030 dollars. Only thing that has prevented me buying one is the fact it does not come equiped with locking tuners, which to me is a down point. Also, is the fact I wish to get a Boogie Triaxis preamp. Get this the euro is now equal to the dollar, a triaxis in the states retails at about 1600 dollars, therefore I should be able to get one with the european voltage setting sent to me from america for approx. 1800 euro. Last time I checked with a shop in Dublin I was quoted 3200 euro for the unit ( not one that they purchased from there supplier when the exchange rates were bad, but a unit that would have to be shipped in). I know music shops need to make profit but charging 3200 euro for a piece that should only cost say, 2200 euro is bloody crazy!!! Anyway I’m going to try to email Framus to see if they can supply a diablo custom with locking tuners. See ya!

I do understand why you did it, but !!!. I hope you also realise that , the swearing and profound sh** were not me, people who did not like (or dare to understand my humour) some of the things i said, fair enough, but in life as on this site, people do not agree, and if people emailed you geoff, saying, "i did not like his comments on the fender twin", and you got enough emails to complain, would you remove him ?, or her ?. no, i have a certain sense of humour, ok, it might not be to everyones taste, but i never meant to really offend anyone(those with half an idea would realise that). A bit of fun and a little sense of humour goes a long way geoff. love Bob. ps. and i probably shouldnt say this, you are crap !!!. pps. A little bit of humour was all that was needed on this site. Say no more. i will never post another message on this site, and if anybody would like a bit of humour over the internet, then email me at [email protected]

i just use a boss equalizer set to a V shape in the EFX loop of my marshall TSL 60…matches a rectifier -but gives me a few more options,in my opinion…but have you heard the latest slayer album?? proves you can still be heavy with a marshall sound–Dload the slayer song "new faith" and crank it—gotta be marshalls……

I am trying to tune an acoustic guitar with an electric tuner. I need to know what frequency to start on. There are eight frequencies on the tuner: 438, 439, 440, 441, 442, 443, 444 and 445. I am pretty sure it is either 438 or 440? (Is one for bass and one for acoustic?). Hope someone can help!

You need to buy some books and learn all you can. Learn to play the scales, learn all the scales and how to play them anywhere on the neck. Practice every day!
-
February 15, 2002 at 6:59 pm #91021AnonymousGuest
First you should go to local music library and find a "book for beginners" (with a cassette) (like "learn to play jazz with guitar in three days") You could also learn by taking your guitar and yourself next to radio, listen to the melody of your favourite song and try to play with the melody. That’s the way I learned play.

not much advise i can give, i’m suffering with the same plateau. learn notations to your favorite songs and listen and get inspiration from your favorite guitarists, try to imitate them. jam with other people too, you can learn cool stuff from other people.

i learnt guitar when i was about 8/9 yrs old, when i really "took off" was when i learnt Greensleeves by heart. i loved the tune and i could really put some feeling into the song, rather than just playing it using music and as you learn by heart, you will change parts to your liking: maybe only subtly, but its being creative. It may seem pretty obvious but you gotta take a real pride in your playing and the best way to improve is to play stuff you can get into. Ask your teacher to get you some "popular" music, i dunno, stairway or something, and learn that. Now youve got the basics down youre ready to learn stuff real properly! Good luck. G

I have an AVT150 and run through the Marshall 4×12 cab and it already has a thich punch and crunch without effects.Add an EQ and probably a compressor and I think you will get what you want.Plus the built in effects are awesome, its got a great chorus which would be great for playin Edward.

shit on toast or caviar and champaign?? the hughes and kettner warp 7 is one of the greatest amps ever built. you can get so much metal oink out of them its not funny. I have a mate who has teh avt150, and it sounds like crap, and has given him trouble from day 1. sure the drive on the warp 7 is a little metal, but get yourself a decent overdrive pedal or 2 and your laughing.

It seems to be a love/hate relationship with Boss. At one time the rock solid boss pedals where a hit, but now with companies accually caring what the musician wants, Boss is lagging terribly. I recently called Bossus about their RC-20 loop station. I had a very simple suggestion for the unit. They thanked me very very much for calling them and then really acted like they didn’t care what the musician end user wants in a unit. It seems they think the musician exsists to serve Boss rather than the other way around. I hope they wise up before they lose enough market share to go belly up. I am only a musician at this time. That is my income. That income is based on me making music. I need tools and Boss doesn’t listen.

Local dealers tell me they can’t provide a proper size ‘snap in’ arm in black or even silver. I have been advised that Fender ‘Elite’ series arms will fit but they are also unavailable. This guitar has a Floyd Rose style floating bridge, single hum bucking pick up, and locking strings with tuning at thr bridge. All hardware is black and the neck is rosewood. I too would like info on this guitaer and advice on whwere to get a proper tremeloe arm. — e mail [email protected] : I have a Jap Strat with a locking nut, hybrid tremelo & the plug lead on the edge of the body. I have a Strat copy but not sure of the make. On the headstock someone has painted over the original name with an attempt to mimmick the word "Fender" as it is written on an original but as I say this is an attempt. What I can’t understand is underneath the imitation Fender logo is the word "Stratocaster" in perfect print. This definately hasn’t been painted on. On a closer look there are traces of another word before the word "Stratocaster" but this has been removed. The only thing I can think of is it is a Squire. Would these have had "Stratocaster" written along the bottom of the headstock? It has a number on the chrome plate at the back of the neck "942457". I’ve had the neck off but this reveals nothing. Any help appreciated.

THAT SOUNDS LIKE WHATS GOING ON HERE. I’D HAVE TO BRUSH UP ON MY SERIAL #’S—BUT IT LOOKS LIKE A 94. WERE THERE ANY LETTERS IN FRONT OF THE SERIAL #? THE NECK PLATE COULD HAVE BEEN ADDED LATER—TRY CHECKING THE PICKUPS AND PICKUP CAVITIES FOR ANY CLUES TO THE MANUFACTURER AND YEAR. If you are fingerpicking guitar player and want to play banjo, try to fingerpick the TENOR banjo. With the regular bass-to-treble order of string (no misleading thin string on bass side) tenor banjo enables you to transfer fingerpicking patterns from and to guitar. On tenor banjo retuned to open G tuning DGdg you can play bluegrass, old-time, Travis picking and more. Look at http://www.geocities.com/patekstylebanjo with tabs and midi files.

I RECENTLY PURCHASED A CARLO ROBELLI HOLLOW BODY ELECTRIC USH-500HB. THE QUALITY OF THE FIT AND FINISH IS AMAZING CONSIDERING THE COST. THE ACTION IS SMOOTH AND, THE TONE IS SWEET. AS A GUITAR PLAYER AND COLLECTOR FOR NEARLY 40 YEARS,I CAN HONESTLY SAY THIS GUITAR IS AS NICE AS SOME OF MY GUITARS THAT COST A WHOLE LOT MORE.

Hey guys i have a carlo robelli f-cut 6 string electri acoustic it had a maroon colour very nice and a beautiful white stem like design on the body and on the fret board with a lil butterfly on it. Well besides all this the fret board of the guitar feels like none i have played before it just feels better than the lespaul i have. The dillema is that it fell and the neck is in two pieces from over the fret board right where the tunings knobs of the first and six string start…now whut shall i do i have searched and i cant find much help on it. Felt like stripping the fret board off it and getting a new neck but dont know where to remove the previous neck from as it seems like a single piece??? 🙁 need ideas please feel free to throw as much knowledge as u guys can on this issue.

Are you referring to the acoustic electric? If so I had one. I paid about 200 or so dollars I think. It was slightly smaller than normal. I would rate it a a low end acoustic, but fairly well built and would rate a 5 or 6 out of a 10 on the scale as far as amplified sound goes. Not bad for the price. I also played expensive acoustic/electric guitars and did not find them to be hugely better.

Hi, I just bought the 99.00 dollar robelli acoustic electric from sam ash. I love it. It sounds great. I played all the other guitars in the 200 dollar range and tried the 99.00 robelli last. it surprised me and of course I am always glad to get a bargain. my first acoustic/electric. i have been playing a 59 duosonic for a long time and it is going to take me a little time to get used to the heavy gauge strings, but this guitar is a great sounding guitar for the money. It’s a great knockaround guitar. jed

Hey guys, I have an Ibanez RG-550 and I was looking into getting a new pickup for the bridge position because the stock one just doesnt have enough vibrance. I was looking into buying a DiMarzio or a Duncan, you know, "the usual" for shredders. I just wanted to know if you guys could point me in the right direction cause I play metal mostly. I do lots of sweeps and harmonics and I like power and grit. Please tell me what you think I should throw in my guitar. Thanks very much guys!

February 11, 2002 at 8:03 am #90826AnonymousGuest
You would probably like the DiMarzio Evolution (DP159FW). This pickup uses the F-Spacing which is what you need for your Ibanez RG-550. I currently use this pickup and I like it very much. It is "HOT". If it’s too hot for you, just sink it down into the body more. I guess I should tell that when I wired the pickup using the normal DiMarzio wiring diagram, it was out of phase with the single pickup. So I had to reverse the "Hot" and "Ground" wire. : Hey guys, : I have an Ibanez RG-550 and I was looking into getting a new pickup for the bridge position because the stock one just doesnt have enough vibrance. When reading tabs, how do you know when to do a down stroke and an upstroke? Is there some sign I’m missing?
-
February 25, 2002 at 1:39 am #91560AnonymousGuest
Im also having trouble with strumming-when you see music with chords above how the hell do you know how to strumm them and therefore play the piece?
-
February 12, 2002 at 2:29 am #90861AnonymousGuest
yeah, it’s usually ^ for an upstroke and (i dont know where the hell the downward caret is) – but that would be a downstroke. they usually write it above the tab.

i HAVE A FENDER BULLIT. i LOVE IT. I have a fender mustang, a gibson s.g., yamaha strat and it is probably my favorite ou of all of them. I will be putting a s.d. hoto rails in the place of the bridge pickup for a hotter sound. Great guitar. I have no idea how much it is worth. Mine is a fender. The one’s that I have seen besides it are all sqeers. The neck is perfect for leads and has faster action than my gibson. It’s hotter than hell.

Hi I have a few questions I would like to ask someone where i can communicate interactively. If you have AIM and can help me with the following questions and possibly offer more in depth advice please add me on. I will be on all night tonight (2/8/02) and through the weekend just about all the time. For anyone else please just respond to this article… Quesions: -What is the best way to learn and play chords? -I was told on a guitar (at least bass) that all the E’s or F’s ect. sounded the same. Why on my Electric Guitar do they not (or did that only apply to bass) -I was using a chord book to play my chords and It showed three different ways to make the letter "C". Are these the only 3 ways and what is the difference between them? Or am I supposed to play them together? -Is there anymore advice you can offer me on learning too play?

I have what appears to be a Gibson Firebird V, only with a bolt on neck stamped Made in Japan. My question is Who made this?, and what exactly do I own? Everything but the bolt on neck and tuners (they are not straight through banjo type) seems to be Gibson or an awful good look alike. Any info is appreciated.

That’s a fucking shame! You should spread the word on these jerks and turn their name into LIMP DIZNICK(dick). As soon as someone tells you to play your unprotected songs, alarm bells should instantly go off!! Seems to me like "PIMP JIZNIK" is running out of ideas, why else would they purpetrate such a tremendous fraud?? It also seems like these arrogant junveniles are too cheap or too lazy to hire scouts to find new talent. This a grand example of how corrupt and devious the music bussiness rally is! So,watch your backs at all times!! P.S.I don’t own any Limp Bizkit shit anyway. Now I’m definatly not buying their stuff.

I have a budget of no more that $550-600..So please help me and suggest me guitar which can be the best Guitar for price and havin sound.

It looks like you need a Les Paul- style guitar. I don’t own one of these, but apparently the Fernandes Monterey and Fernandes Ravelle are by far superior to the Hamer you want. The Ravelle is your best best. It’s the closest looking to a les paul. Except the cutaway at the bottom ends sharply and droops down, and the controls are on the pickguard! I think that’s a design flaw, but hey, I’m just 10 years old. What should I know? hope i helped

: Have a wasburn electric, neck seems fine and just had a setup done and new strings put on. Any ideas. thank roverjimmy Assuming you’ve properly stretched out the new strings, and know enough to tune UP to pitch NOT DOWN to pitch, it could be caused by almost anything. Bridge problem, nut, machines, neck, ham-fisted technique. Maybe you should take it back to the tech who set it up and ask him. Especally if it stayed in tune before he did the setup for you. Keep us posted.

I have an original Burns Marvin Neck for sale, or I may consider buying a Burns Marvin Body, if you have one intact. The neck has been valued at £500. There was only 350 on these guitars made all these years ago. They were designed by Jim Burns and Hank Marvin, hence the name. Serious enquiries only please. I am looking for £300. No haggling.

k, i have two marshall 1960a cabs and they both rattle and i don’t know what to do with them. i took one apart and couldn’t find anything wrong twith it. the castors were off, the head was sitting on the floor and all the screws were tightened. are there any possible reasons for why there is a rattle in this cabinet. it only occurs with high bass (mostly palm muted) and at high volumes. Distortion covers it up. This isn’t a buzz. they rattle. also, it isn’t the growl like they are supposed to but rattle. i have two (like i said). One is in mint condition and the other has had it’s fair share of miles on the road. any help, suggestions?

The problem I have now is when I select the inner bridge humbucker and single coil split (position 4), I get a real flat twangy sound (no low tones at all). I’m asuming this is a phasing problem. I don’t want to make any changes to the Single coil. Can I just simply rotate the DiMarzio Humbucker 180 degrees or do I need to reverse the "hot" and "ground" wires?

I’m having the same problem (barely a sound in position 4) after replacing the original bridge humbucker with a Seymore Duncan Invader. I’m going to try reversing the green (ground) and the black (hot) wires from the new pickup. I’ll post a follow-up after I finish this afternoon.

I’ve got a Yamaki Deluxe. My aunt had it hanging on her wall with flowers in the sound hole and no tuning machines. I think it’s from the early 70’s. I fixed it up, but now the bridge is actually pulling right off the sound board. I bolted the bridge down, but i think she has guitar cancer. It still sounds great and plays excellent! I haven’t heard of anyone else having this problem and I’ll make mine last as long as possible.

Looking to buy a TRIAXIS. Can’t find any reviews. If I buy a TRIAXIS, will it keep it’s sound if I run it through my pair of QSC power amps or should I buy a MESA tube-power amp. Is the "tube" power amp overrated? $1,500 is alot of cash for an amp.

: Short of kickin’ out $300+ for a Power Brake, how can I make better use my DeVille’s power/sound without fryin’my ears? YOUR DEVILLE DOES’NT NEED A POWER BRAKE—THATS WHAT MASTER VOLUME IS FOR. IF IT’S FRYING YOUR EARS TO GET WHAT YOU THINK IS AN ACCEPTABLE SOUND AT AN ACCEPTABLE VOLUME, THEN YOU NEED AN AMP WITH LESS OUTPUT. BUT BEFORE YOU GO SHOPPING FOR A DIFFERENT AMP TRY DIALING UP A VOLUME THATS PLEASING TO YOUR EARS ON THE CLEAN CHANELL—THEN USE AN OVERDRIVE OR DISTORTION OR CLEAN VOLUME BOOST TO BRING OUT YOUR SOLOS. THE DEVILLES AND DELUXES ARE VERY LOUD AND STRIDENT SOUNDING AMPS FOR THEIR POWEWR RATING–BUT I HAVE PLAYED BOTH AMPS AT VERY SMALL VENUES—THE VOLUME KNOB ON YOUR GUITAR IS A VERY USEFAL TOOL AS WELL. GOOD LUCK!!

Hi, I have been wanting to upgrade to a new guitar but I’m not sure what to get. I’ve heard that Taylors and Washburns are pretty good but I’m still not sure which to get. I’m wanting to spend about from 200-500 dollars Could anyone give me some info on these two types of guitars?

$200 – $500? Better stick with the Washburn, unless you’re interested in the baby model taylor…
-

Taylors and Washburns are nice – but i suggest playing around with it first before just purchasing name brands. dont order via internet (you never know what you will get) so go to a music shop and try different brands. that way you can see which guitar best suits you – that’s the mistake i made!

I had a taylor big baby and put a l.r. baggs double shot pickup system in. and it sounded great but I ended up with about the same amount of money tied in it as an Ibanez Artwood would have costed. The artwood offers a real fishman pickup and a killer neck action for under $400 I forgot that it sounds better than some of the higher priced Washburns.

: : been wondering how to get that kewl sound that edge uses in songs like streets have no name. does it have to do with delay or sumthin? You coudn’t get that exact same sound, since the Edge uses gear (guitar pedals) that are not even on the market anymore, plus in songs like "Where the Streets have no name" (my favorite) he had like more than 5 audio technicians modulating his effects. Also in that song there are three different guitar sounds, two for rhythm and one for melody, they were recorder on separate tracks and then mixed as one. It would be very hard, almost impossible to create that exact sound, but you can come very, very close. I use a Boss DD-6 (Digital Delay) and set it to 400 ms (miliseconds). Then to that i add a mild distortion, and some reverb. I have had great fun with it, you can also use the same guitar effects to play "Pride, in the name of love". Hope this helps you 😀

I’ve been watching a lot of bands play guitar and I’m pretty new at playing the guitar (acoustic) and I watch them play chords that I’ve never ever seen before. So is there a difference with the chords? When I try those chords, it sounds terribly different..

well, electric players tend to use barre chords, or power chords, acoustic tend to use open, or first position chords

February 3, 2002 at 7:45 pm #90511AnonymousGuest
You’ve probably seen socalled barre chords. Most beginner guitar-books/teachers don’t start with these chords right away becausse it requires a bit of training to make these chords sound right. You probably have just learned open-chords. The difference is that with with barre-chords you just you’re index finger as a nut. This way you can play chords longer up the neck in the with the same fingerings as the open chords but in different keys, which makes the it very easy to transpose. You just have to larn the chord ones and you can play it in all the differnt keys. So if you know the open chords you really know a lot more chords than you think. I recomand you to start practising barre chords right away. : I’ve been watching a lot of bands play guitar and I’m pretty new at playing the guitar (acoustic) and I watch them play chords that I’ve never ever seen before. : what are the cords you use to tune a guitar? Mary, Don’t pay any attention to the obviously sarcastic answer. Aside from the tuner that somebody suggested, I’d recommend you buy a guitar pitch pipe. It will sound the 6 required tones for you to tune your guitar to by ear. Just listen carefully and match the note on the pipe. Learn to tune by ear in case you break, lose, or forget your electronic tuner.

You do not use cords to tune a guitar, get a small tuner at a music store, or go to the top string ,count down five frets, press and make the next string sound like that, or tune harmonically, its quite complex at first but with practice it becomes Quite EZ!!,get a book and read, its worth the time and effort!!

Do you mean buzz… cause the strings are supposed to vibrate, try raising the string a little first by adjusting the tremolo studs, it’ll affect more than the A string, but you don’t have much choice. : : is there any adjustments that can be made to a flod rose setup to stop a string from vibrating?. January 20, 2004 at 9:03 pm #120735AnonymousGuest
It’s very important that you know exactly where the string is buzzing. If it’s buzzing at the nut, you might have to take the nut off and shim it slightly, along the edge that borders the fingerboard. I did this to a guitar of mine last night, and it did a few things: Got rid of the buzz on my high E. Eliminated a vague rattling noise that I’d noticed in some of the other strings. Made the guitar slightly harder to play in the first few positions. Massively improved tone, sustain, and intonation on the entire guitar. Highly recommended where appropriate.

All tube power means just that, all tube design (4 preamp, 4 power EL34) not solid-state, I have one (TSL100) and think it’s one of the best heads out there, I usually use it with an old cab (w/celestian G12m Greenbacks), I would think the AVT412 should be fine with it, just ask the dealer to be sure. Even though the speakers will handle up to 200w, check out this head full out at 100w… w/2×12 it is loud and should be more than enough unless you play really large gigs… or are into real pain. : Can someone please explane what does the "100W all-tube power" mean….for expl – the TSL-100 Marshall head has this feature…and if i would like to get the Marshall AVT412a/b speakers for it would they work? the speakers take up to 200 wats, but the head – 100w, doe ist mean that i want be able to use the full power of the speakers??

February 22, 2002 at 3:27 pm #91417AnonymousGuest
: Which is better, Maple or Rosewood? Are they about the same? Help!? IT BASICALY IS A FEEL TYPE OF THING. DO YOU LIKE A LAQERED FEEL OR A SOFTER MORE WOODY FEEL? I WILL TELL YOU THAT A ROSEWOOD TOP IS MORE PRONE TO TEMP. & HUMIDITY CHANGES. IT WOULD BE WISE TO KEEP A HUMIDIFIER IN YOUR CASE WITH ROSEWOOD NECKS BECAUESE DRY AIR REEKS HAVOC—THE FINGERBOARD SHRINKS AND WILL CREATE A RISE AT ABOUT THE 12TH FRET TO THE 15TH FRET. THE OTHER CONSIDERATION IS TONE—MAPLE IS BRIGHTER—ROSEWOOD IS MORE DARKER. THIS, OF COURSE HAS A LOT TO DO WITH WHAT THE BODY IS MADE FROM. IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A SOMEWHAT BRIGHT TONE WITH A WOODY FEEL–TRY EBONY—HOPE THIS HELPS.

-
February 2, 2002 at 10:27 pm #109980AnonymousGuest
Normally you need a reference note to start tuning, there are many, you can even use a dialtone, if you have a ‘good ear’ you could do it by ear. Also as long as the guitar is in tune with itself (and kind of close to desired tuning) it will still sound ok, it’s when you play with other instruments that you will sound out of tune… but of course if you are playing with others you have a reference and tune the same. : please, i want to learn how to tune an electric guitar without neither an apparatus. thanks

Greetings, I have a Yamaki guitar and have been doing some research. This website: http://home.istar.ca/~pcarter/daion_guitars/daion_guitars.html somehow ties Yamaki in with Daion. I have information regarding Yamaki (and it’s many sub-brands: Folex, Forks, Hamox, Marchis, Canyon, Shinano, Grad Shinano, Chaki, Harptone, etc.). I’d be gald to share what I know. Send me an email @ [email protected]. Regards, Todd P.S. I have a Yamaki AY331S and it is the favorite guitar of all in my collection.

: Anyone know where I can find ANY info on this amps or on the old Hilgen company – does anybody else have one? be sure you keep that amp and don’t let anybody tell you that they want to take it and fix it for you. don’t let it out of your sight. i used to have an old hilgen bassa grande that i turned up all the way and played guitar through it. i have never been able to duplicate the sweet tone
