looking for Steph Carpenter guitar tone:

Particularly on the Adrenaline album, does that tone come from his Seymour Duncan JB pickups, or does he use some particular distortion unit? thanks...

Can I replace one of my Ibanez GAX75’s pickups with an EMG-81?

I was wondering if I could replace my Ibanez GAX75’s Body pickup with an EMG-81, I know the EMG needs a battery access and I’m not sure I can adapt it to the GAX if anyone knows if it’s possible without damaging the body, I’d be grateful to know, Thanks.

Re: Can I replace one of my Ibanez GAX75’s pickups with an EMG-81?

you would have to install the volume pot provided with the pickup too, so if your guitar has other pickups, that might cause a problem, cause actives don't mix well with passives.
if the battery fits in the cavity, it's fine.

YES

YOU CAN ALSO POWER IT VIA AMP MOD AND SPECIAL CABLE

"ROOO": "Metal Zone" or "distortion"? another question...

Ok, thanks, but i'm not really sure about what is an overdrive or a fuzz pedal. My question is if the distortion DS1 pedal has enough gain...
The Overdrive pedal is a distortion with overdrive? i mean, i'd like to be able to pass from a clean sound to distortion. Can the overdrive or de fuzz do that or i have to use the amp's distortion? thanks

Re: "ROOO": "Metal Zone" or "distortion"? another question...

I think the metal zone is too much for zeppelin. If you want their sound. I would suggest you check into one of marshalls pedals. Perhaps a marshall Guv'ner II. That should be good enough. If you play more sixties rock get a fuzz pedal, like the US big muff. If you play more 70's, get the guvnor. Or if you only have $40 get the ds-1. I have one but it sounds too lo-fi for me. Its good for grunge and punk.

What kind of a guitar?

looking for some good music

Hi guys and gals, this might be ot but I am looking for some good gituar music. What I have in mind is long gituar freestyle that is like back in the 70's where the gituarist goes off and you totally trip out and get transported to another dimension. Stuff that you would typically hear only at concerts. Please let me know if you have any favorites that fit this description that I can get a hold of.

Thanks

Re: looking for some good music

the G3 album, a lot of good guitar on there

Re: looking for some good music

Some of my favorites are:
I wanna know if it's good to you-Funkadelic
Prince of the Sea-Lenny White
Tightrope-Steve Kahn
Sheik your Booty-Frank Zappa

Re: looking for some good music

I am his wife I know, I hear him all the time, what I don't hear is a guitarist that can touch his style. He has played for 35 years and finger picks a Gibson les paul recording for electric solo, and finger picks flamenco on a steel string ovation. He is very diverse so to put a finger on him is hard but he can mimic any of the best but chooses his own freestyle. So if you like to go on a guitar voyage! I have his permission to let you hear "Whales Cry, Oceans Flood" for critique from guitar lovers. If you like page, gilmore, santana, satriani, etc., you will like him!

Re: looking for some good music

But not into oldies like page and santanna.

Gibson wireing guide

Hi,
I've managed to rescue a Gibson guitar from a skip, problem is there is no wireing, still have the pickup volume etc. 2 pickups, 2 swithches and two volume controls, does anyone have a diagram so i refurbish this guitar.

Cheers

Re: Gibson wireing guide

NO DIAGRAM NEEDED
USE LOTS OF WIRE
RED WIRE IS GOOD
BLACK WIRE IS GROUND
OTHER WIRE IS MYSTERY
BE CAREFUL WHEN CUTTING MYSTERY WIRE, IT COULD GO OFF
WIRE EVERY FRET CAREFULLY TO PREVENT FRET BUZZ

Ibanez ge-10 EQ

I recently stumbled over an Ibanez ge-10 eq at a flea market, brought it home and it sounds great! Looks old, but other that that, its mint. Made in Japan., got it for $50 Canadian. Anyone have any comments about these pedals? Was this a good deal? How old are they?

New Taylor neck design

Does this new design make sense? Any downsides to owning a Taylor?

Re: New Taylor neck design

: : Does this new design make sense? Any downsides to owning a Taylor?

To answer your question, the new neck design makes alot of sense. If you're thinking of buying a Taylor, you can go to their website and order a video that shows you all about the new design, free of charge. They demonstrate how the new neck's headstock is about 3 times stronger. If a guitar is dropped, 9 times out of ten, the headstock will break. They show that it would break elsewhere if it's gonna because the new design is so strong. I owned a 614ce. I found NO downsides to the guitar at all. It plays beautifully and looks just as good. A definite 10 all the way!!

the value of a Goya bass...

Hi,
I have the possibility to buy a used Goya bass (4 strings). It's a copy of a Rickenbacker 4001 Fireglow (or something like that). How much should I pay for this. The guy wants around 300$ canadian. If it's in good shape, is that a good deal?
How is the quality of the pick ups on those copy? Will I have to change them to get good sound?
Anything you know about Goya bass will interest me so write me. I'll appreciate any information.
Thanks
Guy

GORGEOUS 1951 TELECASTER ON EBAY!!!!!!

Everyone has to check this out! I was just surfing through ebay, as usual, looking for hot new telecasters. I ran by this guitar and I've been showing it to everybody! This is the sweetest telecaster I have ever seen! Could it get any more perfect than this???!!! I sure hope I can snag it before anyone else does! Can someone help clear up my confusion as to what this guitar actually is? A 1951 telecaster in this good of condition doesn't come by that often like this! Check it out and see the beauty I've laid my eyes on!

Quest Atak 1 Guitar

Could anyone please give me some information on my guitar "Quest Atak 1" Serial #L300682. I am really having a hard time trying to find out what the value of my guitar is. Any infor would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

tuneomatic bridge

I recently bought an Epiphone Alleykat with a tuneomatic bridge. I like the bridge because it gives a lot of leeway to adjust the string height and intonation. However, after setting it up and playing for a few hours, it seems to gradually work its way down which creates string buzz, etc. I find this odd, because with the string tension after setup and tuning, the bridge adjusters seems firm and not prone to move. Has anyone else run into this dilemma? It could be easily solved by a drop of loctite after setup, but I was wondering if this would be a satisfactory solution. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. I plan to repace the metal saddles with graph tech saddles.

Re: tuneomatic bridge

A COMMON PROBLEM INDEED, THE STRING VIBRATIONS CAUSE TUNE-O-MATIC BRIDGES TO DO THAT, LOCKTITE ISN'T STRONG ENOUGH, I WOULD REPLACE IT WITH LOCKING TUNERS, THEY LOCK BETTER THAN LOCKTITE.
