Every single book out there will tell you. Cut your friggin nails. Make a choice 1.short nails 2. choose another instrument 3. buy a static cling clear pickguard that is removeable-(best idea). Scratches are what add character, part of reality (nothing lasts forever). It's a throw-away guitar anyhow (plastic back). Scratch it till it bleeds or has a Willie Nelson hole in it. What doesn't show wear? Sex parts show wear even if you spit shine em.

im with you Jorge, i think scratches add character to certain guitars, the only guitar i regulary polish is my Rickenbacker 360/V64, it a fireglow finish and its like glass, those ovations are too, he does need to cut those nails, never wear a jacket with a zip when playing as those zips can scratch the back of the guitar (although the ovations have plastic backs so thats the least of your worries). in short, if you love it then take care of it.

I'm looking to buy a Fender Mustang; Competition or otherwise. Vintage unimportant, as long as nothing's too broken and its in one piece. Reply to this message or email me if you are interested in selling one.
I'm looking to pay $100 - $200 Canadian, or whatever that comes to in American dollars.
Is $100 like $500 American in Canada? That's what you're looking at unless you scalp one at a yard sale from an unsuspecting seller. Mister those are worth quite a bit if vintage try buying a new copy and see what they sell for. A JagStang is $529 at Musician's Friend. Good luck. I ain't saying it can't be done but web surfers aren't that generous.

Hello people (and neil)
I have a Roland bc 30/2/10 amp, just like neil. amazing or what? I didn't think anyone had them. And.. i had a problem with amp buzz just like neil, except that my reply from guitarman was something along the lines of piss off you lazy bastard, stop clogging up the forum. Sorry-ive always wanted a good bitch at him. Those rolands do look luvlee tho.
ta ta (again) for now
I want to know what the best amp for under 600 dollars is. I want a good amp that has the largest range of tones in the price range. I as close to crystal clear cleans and house wrecking distortion. I want the warm clear ring and still have the deep thud of a nice palm mute... Suggestions?
I want to learn to play the guitar but when I start a new thing I always research everything first. My main question is: Is it easier to learn on an acoustic guitar or an electric guitar? or is there no difference? Another question that I have is: Are any of the video lessons that I have found on-line any good? If so which one is the best? Any info would be greatly appreciated.
I started on a fairly cheap acoustic and then moved to an electric (still fairly cheap) and I can catagorically say that electric is easier and your fingers will be extremely grateful. It's just a lot easier to keep the strings down. You can then buy an amp with acoustic modelling (like the Roland Cube 30, which is very good and nice and cheap) and make your electric sound like an acoustic if that's what you want (although not completely like an acoustic).
I've been playing for about 6 months and have both and still play both but in my opinion the electic is easier and offers more versitility and more instant gratification.
In the UK we have a TV channel dedicated to musicians and it has beginner, intermediate and advanced guitar shows on it that are very goood.
The biggest problem I have is with Theory. I still can't get my head around it but then I think I started a bit late (late 30's).

So,she asked the guitar dude,"Shouldn't he start on acoustic guitar?" The dude said,"WHY...I started on electric." I WAS BLESSED,man!

Hey Josh,
Electric and acoustic guitar are two quite different instruments. It isn't better to start with one of them. Just choose the instrument your feel most for. If that happens to be the electric guitar, as in my case, just start with that.
Hi,
I recently purchased a new laptop with win.xp operating system, and plenty of memory. It has a program called sonic stage installed on it. I am a complete novice with anything that has to do with music so bear with me on this. My husband finger picks a martin for leisure and is actually pretty good. I was wondering if there was a way to plug the jack he uses to hook to his amp. directly to the line in, or mic jack, to my lap so that we can record some of his music to a file and then burn it onto a dvd/cd. So the first question is what type of software if any is there for this type of application. Also, what type of converter would he need to hook to the end of his amp plug to make compatable to the jack on my laptop. I have read a few of the messages on this site that sound like they may be refering to the same type of question I am asking, but the answers are so technical I havent a clue to what it all means. Also what type of file format would you save the guitar recording to, so that it could be burned. Last but not least I saw a company on this site advertising a software program called "cake walk", would this be what I am looking for. I realize your answers will more than likely be over my head but if you give me a/b&c to follow I will have a starting point, and my husband can take it from there. Thanks so much for anyone who has the patience to reply.
